Too many businesses today have to hire worthless employees. Culver's is no different. The staff is rather meh... used my card to pay for 4 pints of Chocolate and the cashier never provided me my receipt. Never offered. While watching the person fill my pints, I watched as they left them filled with approximately a half inch below the top, when the correct procedure for Culver's is to fill the pint to the top, even a little higher than the top so that it is against the top of the inside of the lid. This is not the first time. The last 3 times I have purchased their pints of Chocolate I have not been given the Veteran's discount even though I have stated that I am a Veteran, or the pint has been shorted, or both. When I asked to have the 4 pints double bagged, There was a rather rude remark made that I could not hear clearly, so I simply said don't bother. Really? It is offensive to ask for double bagging so that the heavy product doesn't rip the bad? If you are THAT easily offended, then quit your job and stay home! The pints of Chocolate frozen custard are the only reason I go to Culver's, so I will not be returning to the Merrillville, Indiana store again. I guess I have to go to Clown Point to the Culver's on Summit and Broadway, which is a bit out of my way. Sorry, but I expect the staff to do their job. I went through the drive-through to order one scoop of chocolate ice cream with brownie pieces and Heath. The person taking my order, told me to repeat myself multiple times before just telling me to go to the next window. She had a slightly rude tone in that moment, but I thought nothing of it. When I got to the window, she asked me what I ordered and for the fifth time, I repeated my order. after paying, I pulled forward and eventually received my ice cream. It wasn't till I got back onto the main road that I realized that my ice cream was completely wrong. It was just one scoop of plain chocolate. I turned around and went back just so I could add the toppings. I chose to go inside, so they would be able to hear me better. When I got up to the register. The person who was at the register was the crew chief ( based on her nametag). I told her that I had asked for brownie pieces, and Heath, and she initially told me that I would have to put them in myself. I went to hand it back to her, and it was at that moment that she offered to remake it. The girl who took my order, was standing there, and having an attitude the whole time I was talking to the manager. She was cracking jokes, and making fun of me along with the other employee nearby. The manager had to beg them to eventually make the ice cream. after I finally got my ice cream, and was walking towards the doors, they thought I could no longer hear them, and they started making fun of me Even louder, as if I could not hear them. July 20th,2022 My daughter and I stopped in for lunch. We waited for our food for approximately 45 minutes. When the food arrived I was very disappointed to see that my Burger was completely burned. I ordered the basket but they only brought the burned Burger. When I asked about my fries the girl that delivered the food said she would be right back with them. I saw the same girl delivering to different tables. After approximately 10 minutes I went to the counter and had to stand in A-line of people that were returning their food. By the time I got back to my table with my fries my Burger was then cold. Also the temperature inside the restaurant felt like it was subzero. A traveling softball team was also dining at the same time. Most of them went to their vehicles to retrieve blankets and jackets. One of the children came back in and a snuggy. An elderly couple which was also dining the wife went outside to eat her lunch. They never lowered the temperature of the restaurant. It was the most miserable experience I've ever had inside of Culver's restaurant. I will never return to Merrillville Culver's. It was horrific!! read more

This establishment is clean and maintained nicely. The crew is friendly and gets my food to me in a timely manner. The food is tasty and fresh. (My butter burger and fries were spot on!) The portions are good. The frozen custard is delish! They have a different flavor of the day each day but you can also get chocolate or vanilla with various toppings to make your own "flavor of the day". Went to Culver's for the first time. We are locals to the area.The restaurant was clean, unlike some fast food places around us. The staff seemed knowledgeable about the menu and were able to answer all of our first timer questions. The staff was also very nice. Both the wife and I had their Double Bacon Deluxe burger. The taste was good, not epic, but good. It is definitely better then a McDonald's burger for sure. I'd have to say the closet place with a similar tasting burger is steak and shake. The reason I'm only giving a 4 star rating is because the burger was excessively greasy. I would recommend this restaurant to my friends. I was told by a friend that this place had the best fried chicken. He told me their fried chicken is far superior to KFC. I plan to try it on my next visit. read more

Never had an issue with food quality at culver's. However, service is starting to slip and one of the most apparent franchises it's slipping at is the Merrilville, IN franchise. On my last visit I had a fairly large order (4 kids meals, 2 adult meals, 1 add'l burger). I didn't check the bag. I got home. 1 adult meal missing, add'l burger missing. I call them up and ask them to refund it since I didn't want to drive back. Manager on the phone says no problem. I wait a week for the refund before I call back because I figure they're busy, it happens. I get on the phone with a manager who says he can't refund something he has no idea about from 8 days ago. It's not policy. I don't know - I guess I assumed too much: 1. that the employees would be able to fill an order correctly - that I wouldn't have to check up on them. 2. that they would make it right and return the money they charged for the goods they did not provide. The lesson I have learned is that I will not be back at this Culver's again, and that Mr. Culver needs to step it up on the quality of customer service, particularly at this branch. read more

We always enjoy our local Culver's in Libertyville IL., so we were confident the Merrillville Culver's would be nice. The custard cone we got was dripping down the employee's hand as she handed it to me, and got all over my hand. When I showed this to the Manager, as unacceptable, he was was rude, and asked if we wanted our coupons back. Not an apology, and offer to fix the problem. We stopped here earlier today while driving from Chicago to Indianapolis. This was only my 2nd or 3rd time at any Culver's. Both my husband and I ordered a fried cod sandwich basket. Pros: Restaurant was immaculate. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Food was delivered quickly and pleasantly. Delicious fries. Cons: The sandwich had absolutely no flavor other than lettuce - none. It looked beautiful though! I asked my husband how his tasted. He,too, said it was strange in that it had zero flavor, tasted like water. There was no extra tarter sauce available and neither one of us felt like going up to the counter. Total waste of calories! McDonald's fillet of fish is tastier, believe it or not. If I could I would give 0 stars. My family and I have been coming to this location for years. We have not had a problem, and if we did it was fixed, until today! Manager Rich has no customer service skills at all. He can't even turn around to address customers when they are talking to him! Went to the crown point location where they messed up all three of my orders. Asked for 8 pc buffalo got 8 pc regular tenders. Asked for no mayo on deluxe got mayo. Asked for a double got a single sourdough melt. To top it all off being wrong it was cold! I called the girl sent me not only the 3 baskets they messed up but three more. Great. So I go get three baskets a week later upgraded to concrete mixers. Everything was completely fine! Went to do the same for the other three and was told I couldn't upgrade. We all see how good a Whopper or a Big Mac looks in an ad, but then when you actually buy one, it's pretty sad, right? There's always a piece of cheese hanging half off the bun, or it's usually covered in way too much of *one* topping (like mayo) and not enough of another (like pickles). Horrible idea for the worst meal I've ever had-trying Culvers for the first time. Ordered a kids grilled cheese meal with fries and a root beer. First of all the grilled cheese sandwich tasted like cardboard. Next, the fries didn't have any salt on them whatsoever. Finally, the root beer tasted great, but my cup was leaking...everywhere. I decided to order flavor of the day...turtle ice cream( vanilla ice cream, pecans, bits of chocolate and swirls of caramel...at least that was the picture). I received it and never found one bit of chocolate or swirl of caramel! Plus it took me two tries for them to get it right! A lot of workers standing around talking with very little, if any, adult supervision! Decided to try another Culver's on way home to see comparison. Make this the 33rd Culver's I've been too. Nevertheless when my good lad and I pulled up we saw that something wasn't quite right. As we made the left turn into the lot we saw a horrific scene. Twisted metal, shattered glass, red liquid everywhere, the sight we witnessed was truly unimaginable. Despite the unfathomable scene we witnessed we still were served almost immediately. All while a man was being airlifted to a hospital right outside. As we sat and enjoyed our meal to the delightful tunes that Culver's had playing, I knew that we had made the right decision in going there. Uses burglary tools and wants to take a picture of my card for payment. Called from Southlake Mall, a pretty huge landmark-right down the road and the person on the phone did not know where it was. I had a reputable local locksmith that showed up in a company vehicle the last time this happened. Paid about half for the service. I would not recommend this lockout service to anyone, ever. My kids and I love Culvers!! It's food that's of high quality delivered in a restaurant setting, but with fast food convenience. The kids meals come with ice cream that you can get right away or save the token for a treat another time.
