I have just had the very worst experience from Culvers in Homewood, IL 1. Visited the Homewood location around 6 pm 2. The wait to receive our food was horribly long 3. Upon receipt of the food both the fries and sandwiches were beyond cold 4. My lemonade was only water 5. Once home, I called the store ~ store manager, Rita is not only less than honest, but she has zero experience nor training in customer service 6. Upon revisiting the store on today ~ because Ms. Rita said that they would replace the order 7. This lady lies directly to my face and says that she told me that they would replace the sandwiches only ~ never once did she say that to me 8. I placed an $80 DRIVE THROUGH ORDER at 9:35pm on 1/13/23. My order was brought out 10-12 min later, and I took it home. I quickly discovered that I was missing the chicken tenders from both of their respective baskets and 3 corndogs were missing. I immediately tried calling the restaurant at 10:07pm, but there was no answer. Myself, one of my children, and my husband had to scrounge for dinner. I am a physician and had to be at work the following day 1/14/23 to work a 12 hr in house shift taking care of patients. I did not have an opportunity during that time to call the restaurant. As a result, I prsemtrd to the Homewood restaurant immediately after my shift. Please note I was still on call at the hospital. I explained the issue to the manager, and he informed me that payment could not be refunded but they could give coupons. Initially, he brought 2 coupons to compensatory for the missing chicken tenders and a 1 scoop Sunday coupon. I explained to him that iit was not fair or acceptable for him to under compensatory me for the food i paid for. He then disappeared again, and when he returned, he told me they had reviewed the footage from last night and they saw i was only missing 1 chicken tender order, not 2. I informed him that this was not correct. He insisted that he saw that a chicken tenderness order was placed in my bag. I proceeded to tell him, that he was now calling me a liar. I again explained what was missing from my order. He insisted that cameras showed him the truth, and as a result he would only compensatory me for 1 chicken tender and the 3 corndogs, with a coupon for the Sunday. I am beyond frustrated and angry. I work with the public everyday. I'm not a liar, but it was informed based on the way i was treated and spoken to. If the manager Mr. Fargo had taken the time to consider my complaint and review my order, he would have noticed that there was an order of pretzel bite included with a chicken tender basket. They are both packages in the same type of box. But no, the camera apparently was a better truth teller than the lying doctor. At the minimum, I'm owed an apology, and fair compensation. There was no acceptable customer service interaction 2 days in a row. I've lived in and served this community for 13+ years. I've spent thousands of dollar patronizing the Homewood location. I will not be back. My money and I don't feel welcome anywhere where we are made to feel like liars. read more

This Culver's is really hit or miss. When it's good, it's really good. But when it's bad....ugh. Half the time when I get a burger here, the meat is really thick, and not smashed down like I'm used to Culver's burgers being. And last time when I took a bite, the burger was very pink/reddish throughout. I ended up just throwing it away. A lot of the times, the bacon is soggy and I have to come home and crisp it in the microwave. And almost half the time, they put different toppings than what I ask for. The fries, cheese curds and custard are consistently good, I just wish I could say the same for the burgers. Service can be hit or miss too, some of the people working here are really nice. Others not so much. Overall, I prefer the burgers from Freddy's down the street - they're consistently good and they've NEVER once given me an incorrect order in all the times I've been there. Culver's is too expensive to be so inconsistent. I don't want to spend $15+ on a meal, and have to hope the food is going to be good that day. read more

They seem to be a lot better with health codes. I had another review that said "I love everything about Culvers except for their disregard for health codes. There are 2 girls with big frizzy un-done hair that DO NOT wear hair nets and bring food to customers and handle food. I just don't like hair in my food!" But in my last couple visits I haven't noticed that happening. But I've also been just going through the drive through and the employees who brought my order out to me didn't have hair nets on at all. (which they don't need since food is wrapped up by that point.) I loved that when I went through with my dog they asked if they could give him a treat and they gave me a dog treat for him. I love this place! We were only there for some after dinner dessert and the selections of sundaes and shakes would soon hit the spot. After ordering two sundaes and one shake to go we decided to have a seat at the table... 5min...10min...15min... how long does it take to fulfill an order on a slow rainy Thursday night after a hail storm? Moved from the sticky table to a booth... another 5minute went by then decided to stand by the food counter. Hmm... Sister decided to ask how our order was doing and well, the to-go ice cream master was casually having dinner the entire time. Anyways after realizing the order didn't appear on his monitor he whipped out or ice creams and kindly gave us a card for a free sundae on our next visit... with the quiet comment of "I've been giving these out all day." The food is passable all around. The burgers are alright for fast food. The ice cream is the same as what you can buy anywhere. What is baffling is the pricing. The value for the size of all the food is exceptionally poor. It creates a sort of expectation that you will be getting a gourmet burger, or a large one. Also, why do people think more than two dollars is ok for ONE SCOOP of ice cream? Who wouldn't just buy a carton of something better at the store for that which will feed six people? read more

I felt like I was greeted with fear and trepidation. I'm short, I drive a grandma type of car, (white). I was listening to Living on the Edge with Chip Ingram, and that wasn't even loud; but yet the young man, who was bigger than I seemed anything but warm and fuzzy. He wasn't happy to see me - Oh! I'm sorry. Did I interrupt something?... Perhaps, it was my questions, (I was ordering for my sister who wasn't with me and I needed options). It was just before lunch and the rush had not gotten there and/or forgot to come so ... Yes, they pay you to answer my questions. This all being said, my order was given to me quickly, delivered by a more matured woman, with a smile, who called me "honey". The fries, for my sister were not "fresh", (Yes, I tasted them on the drive to her house - I had to make sure they were okay - they were just, okay). My cod fillet, no tartar, was a bit steamed, so had lost some of it's crunch. More vents in the box would have eliminated this little problem, (however, during colder months, I think less venting would aid in keeping the food warm). Sister enjoyed her meal and I mine. It was just nice sharing an impromptu meal with sister dear. Although, this particular Culver's could have done a bit more, I was not dependent upon them to make my time special. read more

Being that I eat at Culver's far more than I should, I've had pretty much all of the possible experiences at this particular location. The food is pretty straight forward: burgers, sides, soups, and a handful of chicken and seafood dinners. I usually go for either the chicken sandwiches or a burger, though lately I've been thinking of going more towards chicken. The service here is excellent, almost all of the time. There's only one employee that I find to be particularly unfriendly, though usually he doesn't handle the actual customer interaction, so that's okay. Everyone else is great, helpful, friendly, and just generally welcoming, which is nice. The only reason this restaurant isn't rated a bit higher is the inconsistency of the food. When the burger is perfect, it's a bit moist with great flavor. More often than not, though, it oozes with grease, drips everywhere, and every bite just tastes like greasiness rather than burger. I'm not a chef, so I have no idea how to fix that, but whatever it is, it's something they need to do. Nobody wants their burgers dripping in so much grease that everything around is saturated with it. The soups also tend to be a little inconsistent, as sometimes they're thicker and more hearty, and others they're a bit too watery. Luckily, the chicken is more consistent. I haven't had a crispy chicken sandwich, grilled chicken sandwich, or chicken tenders that weren't quite good, so I would advise anyone that visits this location to stick with those choices. On the whole, I enjoy Culver's and the atmosphere, I just wish they could have a little more attention to detail when it comes to the burger quality. read more

My husband and I eat out A LOT! Culvers has always been kind of a "special" treat because it is pricey. I always get the fish meal and with hope in my heart pray they get it right. Once...just once..... I digress... My husband ordered me a double burger (decided to be a fast food rebel) and he got a double patty melt. I wanted only mayo, lettuce and onion. Well, now...I didn't find the onion until my last 3-4 bites. 2 teeny tiny rings were hiding under the grossly brown, greasy lettuce. (My fault, I forgot to ask for FRESH produce.) Mine was a combo meal. Again, my fault. I assumed that COMBO meant sandwich, drink and FRIES...obviously I was mistaken because there were no fries. I mean, how can that be the crews fault? It's not like they had a receipt to go by with FRIES in capitol red letters. I guess that would explain why my husband got a single patty melt instead of the double he was happily charged for. His chili was stone cold. Now, having been a fast food manager for MANY years I understand that everyone has a bad night and I am sure this was everyone in the crews bad night all in the same day. A while back I had visited this location due to the sign on their board that said cones are on sale. We pull up to the drive through microphone and the lady on the other side automatically has an attitude and acts like she can't hear us! So personally I was offended because if you hate your job it should not be taken out on the customers you should represent the company you work for! We repeatedly asked "are your cones on sale?" And the teenager refused to listen we asked about 5 times and then just decided to pull off as we pull of the young child is laughing in the window! As with any Culvers this place is a great food choice for fast food. The place is clean. The service is fast and friendly and the food, no matter what you order is delicious. After ordering via drive-thru, I got the feeling there was a misunderstanding with my order. That was confirmed once they brought it out to me. I haven't been to the Homewood Culver's since 2015. Since Lassen's kitchen is out of commission, I stopped and got a burger and fries and a salad on my way to trivia. The burger and fries were good but I ended up throwing away about a quarter of the lettuce in the salad (slimy and brown). No big deal. But while I was waiting for my change, I saw this guy emerge from the kitchen. He may have been the manager because he was the one who brought singles to the kid at the window. Well, this guy---manager or not---- had the messiest, dirtiest looking dreadlocks hanging all over the place. I thought there was some kind of health department rule about hair being covered. This guys hair didn't appear to have seen shampoo for months. So, that did it for me. No one will get me to come back to the Homewood Culver's ever again! read more

I love this place. I don't come for the employees; I come for their FANTASTIC ice cream and burgers! I'm always very satisfied whenever I come through. I tried Culvers for the first time last week mafter passing several of them over the years. I ordered the shaved prime rib sandwich and I have to say that it was awesome. As we four were finishing a light dinner before a casual night at the theatre, I pulled out of my mouth a 6-inch light-brown hair, nearly gagging up my grilled chicken salad. I was angry, and walked to the counter, and asked to speak to the manager. Marcus Davis walked over. Holding up the full length of the hair I'll almost swallowed, I told him that as I took the last bite of my salad, the hair that I was holding came with it, all FIVE inches. He didn't apologize. Instead, he asked me if I'd like a free sundae. When I declined to accept more food, free or not, from Culver's -- that's my second and last time eating there -- he started to harass me. "Pretty convenient that the hair was in your last bite of salad," he said. I asked him if he had a card, and waited for him to get me one. He gave me $5+ change back, two business cards, neither of which was his, and never, ever any apology for serving a meal with a hair. The district manager/owner/operator will get a call about this.
