We're so sad that the Saturday Spring 2026 camp is over--and we're really hoping they offer a fall session! My 7-year-old is in a dual-language first grade class and has had some exposure to Spanish, but Cultural Bytes truly sparked his interest in wanting to learn more. My son has Autism Level 1 and does need some support, so at first I wasn't sure how it would go. We decided to try just one class, and after that very first day, he was already asking to go back. That says everything. We've loved it so much that we enrolled him for the entire summer program. While he's sad that the Saturday class has ended, he's excited to return in the summer. Señora Jackie is wonderful with the children, and the rest of the teachers are just as amazing. I especially appreciate that they fully immerse the kids by speaking only Spanish--it really makes a difference. Highly recommend! read more

My daughter spent two weeks during the summer at Cultural Bytes in Burbank for their Spanish program. She had a great time, was immersed in her target language for the summer, and was provided well rounded activities during her care. She was happy to attend and made friends that she looked forward to seeing each day. The Program Director, Jackie Amaya-Garcia was very involved with the program and would even welcome students in the morning during drop off. This place is a scam. I'm a teacher and I could tell this camp was a glorified babysitting service right away sadly. I found out they also offer kids' incentives for their parents' positive reviews. So sleazy. This explains all the 5 star ratings. : ( FYI, my son went to this camp during the summer of 2019. I'm writing this because our son usually came home not very thrilled with this place even though he had a few friends who were also attending. This year he loves the Glendale camps and even his school camp so much more. So many days my son came home with drawings done on paper towels from the hand towel dispenser. How hard is it to buy a ream of paper with the prices they're charging? Really. While our son attend, I showed a photo of Sra. Jackie I found on her website and asked our child if he knew her. Our son said, "No one sees her a lot." There are many things wrong with this babysitting service/camp. I recommend you don't find out for yourself. On a positive note, many of the young adults working there were decent people. I believe it was the management where this camp fails miserably. read more

We have been doing the Spanish classes on Zoom this Summer and because we have enjoyed them so much, we just keep continuing classes. My kid has learned so much. My son just started taking 1-1 Mandarin classes and even though I was so nervous about how it would go, he loves it! He really likes the way the teacher doesn't speak English, but provides other cues for him to know what she is saying. He felt like the 30 min class was so quick and has asked to do the 60 min even! After class, without prompting, he went and made flashcards so he would remember what he learned. Looking forward to also trying Spanish classes which is why we first started, but my son is hooked on Mandarin for the moment! read more

Cultural Bytes Spanish Summer Camp really is a 5-star experience...Señora Jackie's vision, talent, and intelligence are evident when you speak to her on the phone or meet her in person, but equally impressive is the team of teachers and other staff she brings together for this camp. Srta Camila, Srta Manuela, Srta Elisa, and Srta Johanna showed our daughter so much love during her six weeks there! They were patient, caring, and communicative. Our daughter is interjecting Spanish into her everyday speech, which is awesome. The program is the right mix of academic and fun...I think it's awesome that they have water day on Fridays (because it is summer vacation after all.) You know it's a fun experience when your child constantly asks "it is Fall yet ? I want to go to Spanish Saturday's with my friends!" Our daughter thoroughly enjoyed her first IN PERSON Spanish Saturday program last Spring and cannot wait to return this Fall. The total immersion approach is something she is familiar with; she attends school locally in a fully immersed French program. Down the road, she is required to pick up a second language and this is a fun way for her to prepare. This is the first year our boys(ages 6&9) attended Cultural Bytes. They attended the entire 6 weeks and initially were not looking forward to a full immersion Spanish Language camp. That being said, after the first week they came home excited to return to camp the next day. During the weekend, they ask if the weekend was almost over, and ask when will they return to Spanish camp. Fridays are optional but our boys insisted on attending Fridays as well. They really had a blast, and are speaking some Spanish and singing songs in Spanish around the house. Señora Jackie (the director) is very organized which we really appreciate. She is also very enthusiastic, caring, and you can tell she is very passionate about the children. Not only their learning, but their overall well being. The counselors are also very nice, caring and always enthusiastic to see the kids. Our boys love Manuela and they always have wonderful things about their other counselors and how much fun they are. They offer a variety of activities that engage all the children no matter their interest. We are so grateful for our experience with Cultural Bytes and will definitely return next summer. read more

He absolutely loves this camp, the kids, and his teachers. I know he's learning bc he's mentally and physically drained at the end of each day. My daughter is currently enrolled in the Summer program. This is completing our first full year with Cultural Bytes. We've done the Fall and Spring Saturday immersions, the Winter camp and now the summer camp. Even though my daughter can be shy and gets a little nervous she has managed to leave that at the door when she goes in to meet her teachers. The teachers are absolutely fantastic. They have tons of energy, they are happy and they truly seem to enjoy their jobs. My daughter loves them and I am grateful. After the winter program, which was shorter, I was surprised to have her teach me some Spanish songs that she learned. Now with the summer program, I have noticed she is coming out of her shell even more and teaching me words in Spanish on her own. Miss Jackie's approach is to not badger your kid for info on what their day was like/ what did they learn/ etc and your kiddo will show you and this has totally happened with my daughter. I've been able to speak some Spanish at home here and there and instead of getting upset with me (which she used to do when I was trying to teach her on my own) she will respond to me or even sing along if I'm singing a song. I'm really happy with Cultural Bytes. I know that ultimately, it is the teachers that can make or break any camp or school and all of the teachers are just fantastic. It's obvious that Miss Jackie takes much consideration with her staff and they seem to be happy as well because I have been seeing the same faces since we started with Cultural Bytes. read more

This program is incredible! My daughter is currently enrolled in the French Camp. The immersion program seemed a little scary to her (and us!), but she has excelled. After one week she is more at ease in French than ever before. Despite having taken classes for two years (for only an hour a week) at another school, she never felt comfortable to use her French. Cultural Bytes has given her context for the language as well as support while she is learning and trying. She now asks to speak in French at home and is excited to share what she is learning. The teachers and Madame Jackie are incredible. They are very supportive and make sure that the kids enjoy the learning process. I was very impressed the first day watching Madame Jackie interact with the students. She has so much empathy and compassion for the challenges of learning a new language. My daughter was instantly at ease. I also really appreciate the diversity of the staff. The two French teachers are from Martinique and Madame Jackie is Colombian. As someone with a mixed-race daughter, I'm glad she can see so many women who look like her family members! All in all, this is a wonderful place. Cultural Bytes has been a great experience for our family and it's only our first week!! Coming from a non-Spanish speaking household I was concerned with how my children's would adjust and ability to communicate with the teachers and peers, but the staff are so very caring and attentive. The teachers provide such a great balance of nurturing and academics which allows my children to thrive. I love how the staff are always there for me and willing to answer any questions I have. Cultural Bytes is a local treasure for parents who want to ease their children into dual immersion programs. This summer, we enrolled our daughter in their total immersion Spanish Summer Camp and she loved it! Having never exposed her to Spanish before, we hoped that summer camp would help her get familiar with the language so that it wouldn't be such a shock when Kindergarten started for her. Not only did our daughter get comfortable with hearing Spanish around her, she starting speaking several words back to us by the time camp was over. With school being online right now, I'm so, so glad that we participated in camp and are now continuing with 1:1 tutoring until school opens back up again Cultural Bytes' teachers are kind, caring, and encouraging. Our niece is visiting us from Mexico and we wanted her to learn new things. A friend of ours referred us to Cultural Bytes as a great ways to interact, learn and interact with kids. Since she knew Spanish and not English, we thought that she might have difficulties learning. We were so wrong! When we picked her up and not only was she excited, but she was NAMING THINGS IN FRENCH! The next day, she was up early and ready to go learn with her new friends. My review is for the online classes. The group zoom class is engaging and fun, and my daughter enjoys them. It's hard to find a more advanced level of Spanish Immersion format class at a price point lower than a one on one tutoring session. This class keeps her speaking and listening 100% in Spanish. I also love that it is in drop in format, so I can plug in their classes as it fits my schedule. This would be great for any #spanishimmersion student to counter the summer slide! read more

My 9yo son has been taking Spanish classes once a week with his friend through Zoom (during covid) and it's been so fun and great. He's been proud of himself that after a few lessons he could point to parts of his face and name them in Spanish. Today my 12yo daughter had her first 1-1 French lesson and absolutely loved it. We have been touring/trialing Spanish immersion classes for my 4.5 year old and Cultural Bytes stood out in so many ways. 1) My daughter LOVED it! This is the most important part. If they are enjoying themselves they will learn more. Out of all the programs we tried this is the only one she asked to come back to. 2) Options- they offer summer camp/winter camp and Saturday classes. Other programs that I looked into are only 1 hour classes and/or offer only summer camp. We are not a spanish speaking household so she needs more than just an hour to really help her learn/maintain the language. 3) Immersion- It May seem intimidating to us as adults, but it's the best way to learn! Some programs translate or speak in english/Spanish and it doesn't force their brains to do the work. 4) Age appropriate- The divide the kiddos into age appropriate groups to ensue they are at the right level, and they are offering a toddler camp this year and I am looking forward to my 2.5 yr old being able to attend too! Our son recently attended the Demo class during the winter session [2.5 hours]. My husband and I are interested in the summer camp program and we figured this would be a great way to meet Sra. Jackie and some of the teachers and see if he liked the program, the school grounds, etc. We were very impressed with the attention that Sra Jackie gave to us when I called to ask a few questions. She answered everything thoughtfully and really took her time to talk to me about the school and its goals. When I dropped my son off at the demo class, Sra Jackie spoke with my husband and me for an hour, never rushing us. She is very passionate about the work she does and the programs that she has created. She is also very well-traveled and speaks several languages. When we picked our son up from camp, he told me he loved it! They change activities every 30 minutes which keeps the kids engaged and interested. Cultural Bytes is a warm and safe environment for learning multiple languages! We started out in person with just our son about a year ago and then added our younger daughter shortly thereafter. We were saddened like most when covid shut down in-person learning. Not surprisingly Jackie had the virtual learning program up and running shortly after the quarantine began. We were skeptical about learning a language virtually but were sent the most amazing instructor in Andres! Like many of the teachers he is enthusiastic and really really good with kids. Cultural Bytes provided online tutoring to my daughter this semester. She was having trouble keeping up in her Spanish Immersion program at school. We tried some other tutors and companies and nothing really worked until we found these guys. They provide a great service with a lot of fun and games that keep my daughter engaged and happy. Props to cultural bytes. My daughter absolutely loves the total immersion French classes. She had show personal interest in learning French and we were having difficulty finding in person classes that followed appropriate COVID guidelines--luckily we found this program. Now with little home intervention she has a basic knowledge of French in just a few months. She is always excited to attend and comes home happy, inquisitive and excited for the next week. We feel so lucky to have found this magical place. Our daughter started Spanish immersion kindergarten in GUSD during Covid and did the whole school year online. We were looking for a Summer program that would truly immerse her in the language and culture in ways she missed-out on during distance learning. From the first visit to the Spanish Camp, we knew it was exactly what we were looking for!! Our boys felt very comfortable with the other students and by the end of the visit, they were asking when they would be coming back! I was so sad when we were stuck in quarantine and not able to do Spanish class on Saturdays. Decided to give one on one online lessons a try. I was worried he wouldn't be into it but since it's so intimate my kid is learning a lot in just a 30min lesson. And they make it fun. They have even helped adapt curriculum to him and given us a chance to try our different teachers to see who was the best fit. They are very accommodating and quickly pivot as needed as we are all learning how to do things virtually. Only issues is that sometimes the zoom doesn't start on time and both teacher and student are waiting for the meeting to start separately even though they are both on but it's not connecting. Really a zoom issue and not the programs. Fortunately they use the class start time once they actually connect to get your full paid time. read more

My daughter who is 8 and my son 6 joined the Spanish Camp in Hacienda Heights. They went in knowing somewhat Spanish and came out 4 weeks later having conversations in Spanish, they love singing in Spanish and watching cartoons in Spanish. The teachers and Señora Jackie are loving, caring and awesome! My kids love them! I recommend this program 100% it sets the foundation for speaking Spanish in children. read more

My son attended the winter camp (7 days) and he loved it! We had never been to Cultural Bytes before. He was actually sad when it was over because he got attached to the staff and friends he made. Senora Jackie is very nice and so is the staff that taught the classes. My son got motivated to utilize the language more (he understands most, but he is not used to talking since he doesn't have a lot of people to practice with (basically just me) with some prompting. I would definitely recommend the program to anyone. Cons: 1) As a working mother that is off when school is out, it is hard for me to send my son to an all-day camp because then I feel I am missing out. 2) Program is a bit pricey in comparison to other programs around although the staff was really nice so if you don't mind then it is all good, 3) Driving from Sylmar to Glendale, having to drive twice due to the last day activity being in the middle of the day was a bit of a convenience, but still I am happy my son was happy.
