Iron Castle Construction Company - Attic build-out

Iron Castle Construction Company

We couldn't be happier with our new porch--what a transformation! Iron Castle Construction's skill…read moreand professionalism are as impressive as the outcome itself. Owner Ken Schubert worked creatively with us and our design, streamlining materials and construction methods to capture the look we wanted at a price we felt good about. He took extra care in construction, picture-framing the decking, a detail I wish I'd thought to ask for and was overjoyed that he included. From inspiration photo to finished product, Iron Castle turned our lackluster, sagging brick porch into a wide, welcoming, beautiful entry. We're excited to tackle future projects together and recommend Iron Castle to everyone we know.

I honestly feel a bit bad leaving a 3-star review here because everyone I interacted with at Iron…read moreCastle Construction was genuinely kind, respectful, and responsible. On top of that, the quality of their work is fantastic. Among other great things about their work, they did a beautiful job matching the existing wood molding in our home with the new construction they did on our bathroom. Price-wise, they were right in the middle of the road compared to the other estimates I received. Where things fell short for me was communication. I know contractor-client dynamics can be tricky, but as the project progressed, it became increasingly unclear what the actual timeline or next steps were. The project ran longer than the original estimate, and I was never given updated, reliable estimates for completion. (Part of this was due to scheduling inspectors which had nothing to do with Iron Castle, but even factoring in the inspection wait time, the project went beyond the initial estimate.) Toward the end, communication broke down and workers would show up on days without prior notice, even after I explicitly asked to be kept in the loop on scheduling. That was stressful because we had our work to take care of. Big picture: Iron Castle does high-quality, beautiful work, and they are good people. But while I love the finished product, the process of getting there was not what I would have expected.

I appreciate your response but you fail to mention that 3rd Generation "caused" the damage and is…read morenot owning up to that fact. To add further insult, you offer to make repairs only if I agree to pay for the damages 3rd Generation caused. Bond was denied but that doesn't negate the warranty for poor workmanship and trying to pass the cost on to me the customer to get it fixed. The fact remains to this day, there is a failed inspection due to the negligence and the permit remains open for which 3rd Generation has been cited by the city of University Hts.

Mike, Rick, Josh, Derek, and all those involved in inspecting preparing the scope of work, quoting the job and ensuring that everything was easy and went smoothly and as planned are truly remarkable people who looked out for our best interest. You guys were there every step of the way and walked us confidently through each stage of the process. Your professionalism was unsurpassed. The crew showed up when they said they would and worked steadily until the job was completed. Their speed and thoroughness of the tear-off and reinstallation was beyond our expectation, and they even cleaned up after themselves. Thank you so much 3rd Generation for our beautiful new roof. We would highly recommend you to anyone and everyone who is interested in quality work being done in a timely and skilled manner, at a fair price. Sincerely Scott & Melissa Young

1 Star - Cautionary Experience Regarding Sales Practices and Contract Terms…read more I am sharing my documented experience to help other consumers make informed decisions. Contract Documentation: On February 26, 2026, I signed a contract for a door and insulation installation. The contract I received appeared to omit required completion-date information in the "Notice of Cancellation" section, raising concerns for me about the completeness of the contract disclosures. Missed Installation and Scheduling Issues: Installation was scheduled for March 19, 2026, but no one arrived as agreed. When I contacted the company, I was informed of scheduling changes I had not received notice of. I explained that I could not accommodate the proposed rescheduled dates due to a previously scheduled medical procedure. Sales Pressure and Unannounced Visit: On March 19, 2026, despite explaining that the proposed installation date did not work for me, I was pressured by the salesperson for approximately 10 additional minutes to accept the rescheduled date. I ultimately had to end the call because of a prior work engagement. A few hours later, the salesperson appeared at my home without a confirmed appointment. Cancellation and Further Unannounced Visit: On March 20, 2026, I contacted the company to cancel the contract. On March 21, 2026, the salesperson called me and continued pressuring me to allow the installation to proceed. He asked whether he could come to my home to discuss the matter. I explicitly told him no, yet he showed up at my property anyway. I found this conduct unacceptable, particularly after I had communicated my decision to cancel and declined his request to visit. Resolution: The company declined to refund my payment. I submitted a formal dispute to my credit card issuer and filed complaints with state regulatory authorities. After reviewing my dispute and supporting documentation, my credit card issuer resolved the matter in my favor and made the credit permanent. Based on my experience, I encourage homeowners to carefully review contract terms, cancellation notices, and required disclosures before signing a home improvement agreement. Keep copies of all paperwork and communications, document scheduling issues, and make sure you understand your cancellation rights before committing.
