I have a very old AC unit that's in the attic and I wasn't very optimistic but after about an hour of working on it Alex got it working again by replacing a fan and installing a new thermostat that was compatible with new part. After he was done for the day, I found no mess anywhere he had worked at in the house! After installation, he would tell me what regular maintenance is needed to keep my system running. I learned from reading many articles knowledge is the key to correctly sized and properly installed HVAC systems. Undersized or oversized systems will just leave you uncomfortable and paying higher utility Bills. Armed with knowledge I called local contractors for bids, and received estimates from 5k-12k and the furnace sizes ranged from 58k-120k Btu. In doing calculations using popular DIY sites I had come up with 65,000 Btu Heat and 30,000 Btu (2.5ton) cooling. Derek (Owner not some sales guy) quoted me on an 80,000 Btu 2 Stage Carrier Furnace so in low heat mode it's perfect for maintaining temperature but after setting the temperature down at night the High Heat Mode Brings my house back up to temperature quickly in the morning. Other Contractors were quoting Goodman and Comfort Air products for the same or even more money. The Day of the install Derek and Nathan showed up on time and got right to work removing the old furnace and oil tank. A conversation with Nathan revealed he was a High School Student in a Vocational HVAC program working for Derek. I was amazed at his attention to detail and professionalism being so young, his passion for what he is doing really showed with his nice neat bends of the tubing to the AC Unit. Several Hours later I had Heat, and it was so quiet, simply amazing how quickly it was able to heat this old house up. Derek went over the system with me and completely cleaned up, the only evidence he was here is the new equipment. Long story short, My Oil Burner failed…read moreprematurely (10 years old, Heater Core Rotted) and it was determined that it had to be ripped out and replaced. This Weil McLean Boiler was originally installed by Dorsey. The "Heater Core" Cast Iron Casing was made in China. Caveat Emptor, stay away from Chinese manufactured products. I solicited three quotes for a new Boiler and two were in the $7,000.00 range. Jim Dorsey's quote was in @ $1500.00. Though my Boiler was no longer in warranty, Jim worked out a deal with Weil McLean and got me a replacement unit for free. The $1500.00 quote was for labor only. In Jim's opinion, a Boiler should last for 30 Years. Jim went way beyond the call of duty and took care of business in a timely fashion. Also, he has a great crew of people working for him. All are very professional and really care about customer service.
