I have been ordering food at Cuginis for over 15 years, however last Wednesday I order a sub for lunch that was absolutely not edible. Everything was burnt and there were various items on my sub that I did not ask for that were then poked out. I waited 45 minutes just waiting for my basic sub to be completed. I got home tried to eat the sub and just broke down and cried. Ugh. I wanted to take it back but I waited so long for my food that at that point I gave up. read more

When in yesterday with a friend to watch the game and get some food. I was very impressed with the great service and beer knowledge . Hands down best wings I've had in Montgomery county in traditional buffalo NY fashion the wings allow you to do the twist and pull and keep all the meat together. Pizza is great also! read more

Cugini's is a nice restaurant. It is very comfortable and the cheese pizza was amazing and really cheesy. (Amazingly cheesy) I also LOVE the appetizers. I would definitely come again :) read more

We saw the restaurant on tv and decided to try it out. We drove over an hour from Va to MD to try their food. It was absolutely amazing. I had the steak and cheese sub, kids had spaghetti, daughter had the chicken sandwich and hubby had the wings. Everything was delicious. Service was very friendly and attentive. We will visit again. read more

I have been there maybe ten times in the past two years. The only reason I kept going back was because until two weeks ago I thought they had the best gyro around (I don't think much of anything else I have tried here). The service has always been terrible and the staff surly, despite the highly anticipated change in management. Last month I called to place an order and the girl on the phone didn't know what a chicken parm was (it's on the menu). I repeated my order three times, she put me on hold, and then never actually managed to get the sides I ordered onto the ticket. She said 20 minutes, I showed up 20 minutes later, and still had to wait 15+ minutes. The last time I went in there two weeks ago, the girl behind the counter saw me walk in then she took a lengthy phone call while I waited. I have run the front desk of a busy business, and I would always deal with the person in front of me rather than take a call (she could've asked the other person to hold). The place was empty and I could see my food waiting in the window. When she got off the phone, she asked for my name, I told her my name but said "but the guy who took my order never asked my name, I just ordered the gyro up there." She insisted on looking up my order in the computer by my name, again I told her I never gave it, and she mumbled something about "sometimes it comes up" despite the fact that she couldn't find my name in the computer. Then she asked for my name again and she read to me all the names in the computer; she seemed annoyed. I again told her what I ordered and finally she went to the window, looked at the ticket, and said "gyro?" As I said before, the gyro used to be great, exactly as a textbook gyro should be. This last time, the meat was cubed (rather than strips) and dry, no pepperoncini, greasy bread, and clumsily put together. The straw that broke the camel's back on never returning was that I could see directly into the kitchen through the open door, and saw the guy who was preparing take out meals, wearing gloves, shoving food into his mouth! read more

This place is the worst Italian wanna be place in Maryland. They're food is all frozen and tasteless and the women up front couldn't have been more surley and unfriendly. I will never eat there again and neither should you.. read more

Good spot to meet up with the fellow locals. Not a huge fan of the menu, but I will say the old bay wings are good. It's also hard to get a drink at the bar if you're not close with some of the bartenders. Hayley is great and does a good job of helping customers when she's bartending. Would definitely recommend going in to the restaurant as opposed to ordering over the phone for takeout. read more

We really want this place to do well. I would love to have a local watering hole that has great pizza and beer. The food is not made with love. The sandwiches and salads are nothing special. The pizza is not great either. We ordered a month back and never got our order. I can echo the other reviewers who complained about the person on the phone. She needs to be trained or removed. This is a restaurant that you would see on Restaurant Impossible. The owner needs some tough love or the place is going to close. read more

After reading these reviews I am beginning to wonder if most people even know what good or even just decent food is. I took my daughter and her friend to get some lunch today and even the girls thought that the food was barely edible. I ordered the chicken Parmesan baked ziti which consisted of penne pasta in a flavorless, had to be from a can, sauce and clearly frozen breaded chicken that was dry. My daughter ordered a personal pepperoni pizza and again the sauce was downright gross and flavorless. Her friend ordered meat ravioli that was drenched in a flavorless sauce, clearly from a can. Even the bread that came with our pasta dishes was not properly toasted and drenched in butter. read more

With the exception of Pizza Hut's pan pizza, Cugini's has my favorite pizza - when they make it right. Occasionally you get a bad apple working there that doesn't stick to protocol, but 9 out of 10 times, the pizza is fantastic for my taste. Not too expensive if you get the free pizza special on Monday nights. Nice, fancy bar, party room and football on TV. read more

I give 4 stars for the wonderful, always rotating craft beer selection... And the old bay wings. Cugini's serves far from authentic Italian food. Their pizza and "Italian" dishes are exactly what you'd expect, and the atmosphere in the restaurant part is stark. However, if you want really unique craft beer on tap, it's well worth a stop in. I come back time and time again for the great beer and wings. Highly recommend for the bar! read more

Went in for pizza, was told it would be 45 min wait so got subs instead because they would be fast and paid double. 42 minutes later we got our food 3 minutes faster than what we actually wanted which was pizza. It tasted like something from worse than 711. Never coming here again ruined my entire night. read more

If it weren't for the slow service, this would have been a 5-star review. The place was packed on a Saturday night while Markoff's Haunted Forest was open. That being said, the service was still lacking. On to the food: my steak & cheese was fabulous. I had considered a 12", but, was happy I didn't because the 6" was filling. I had an order of fries that were hot and tasty too. I would go back, because the Mediterranean pizza looked fabulous! read more

Delicious food, great service and fun atmosphere. Highly recommend to anyone wanting good food and an easy going place. Also a craft beer mecca. read more

We always go to Cuginis for steak and cheese sandwiches and cold beer after golf at Poolesville. Best steak and cheese in the area. Great service from Tina. read more

The cook has definitely improved. Service is always great - Maria and Paris are DYNAMIC. You must try the pizza, the crust is delicious and the vegetables are FRESH. The bar has a great selection of premium beer and wine. Danny is the best bartender in Poolesville. This is one of our favorite spots in town. read more

Food here is ok. Nothing special. Cheese bread is the hidden gem. The great thing about Cugini's is the beer selection. Constantly changing and generally some real good choices. The staff is always friendly. Overall a good small town joint. read more

I love cuginis! My family gets carry out here all the time. The owner is very nice and the staff is super friendly!!

This is a great little pizza place for the family! I ordered a calzone. My Italian side comes out and I can get picky with my calzones.. so I will say this one was not amazing, but it was pretty good! I ate it all :-) Overall, this is a pretty laid back place and there isn't a lot of seating, but for a bite to eat after a soccer game or carry out for the family, I think it is perfect! Oh, note to the parents.. They do serve beer and a couple cocktails! read more

The food here is pretty decent. We live locally so come here often as it's one of only good options in Poolesville. Love the Old Bay wings, ask for them extra crispy and they are delish. The real star of Cugini's is their bar and beer selection. Tons of craft brews on draft. A constantly rotating selection of pretty local beers as well as from afar. If you're a beer fan you won't be disappointed. They also frequently host a "tap takeover" with several brewers coming in to show off their latest creations. Great time for an evening with friends. read more

What a great place to chomp thru a Greek salad and terrific pizza in the middle of the week! They assembled a fine salad with very generous portions and not too much feta. The pizza was succulent and chewy, with just the right amount of crisp on the crust. Best of all, we were in no hurry, and we sat talking for two hours without being disturbed. We very much appreciate the friendly atmosphere and first rate food. Thanks, Cugini's, for a relaxed and delightful afternoon. read more

Great pizza! Little on the expensive side but the sauce is tasty and they use fresh ingredients and toppings. I have also tried the ice cream. Jellato good too! :) read more

The new owner changed the menu at least 3 months ago. I've tried to order one of the new dishes (Buffalo Chicken Dip) at least 6 times. Each time being told, that they don't have it. Additionally, the prices are inflated and the person who answers the phone is clueless! read more

Pizza here was not bad for Poolesville, MD I guess. After an afternoon of Christmas tree shopping, this place was close by and seemed the easiest option for dinner. The pizza sauce was a bit sweet for my taste, the cheese was a bit heavy, and the crust not crispy enough, but as Yelper Pritha R of Brooklyn once wrote me, "The thing is, even bad pizza is pretty good, isn't it? Like that crap whisky that you bolt down after a terrible day: bad pizza is better than no pizza. It get's the job done." I'm sorry but I really can't add to that bit of wisdom. Plus Cugini's had Peroni on draft and friendly, patient people helping us non-regulars. Two large pies and some salads were perfect for our party of six. When you're with family recounting tales of Thanksgiving over a pitcher and a few slices, all is right with the world I guess. Should I ever find myself back here, I'd definitely treat myself to one of their many gelatos, one of which they cheerfully let me sample. read more

Really nice local joint. I had the cheese steak for lunch and was really good. Not crowded at all. Should've been way more crowded. But it is Poolesville. So..... anyway. Check them out. You won't be disappointed. read more

I was eating my pizza, I had 2 slices sitting on the plate and I was watching tv. I look at my biggest slice and see a COOKED COCKAROACH on my pizza and that's why from now on my family will get Kristophers pizza. I USED TO loved getting pizza from cuginis too, UNTIL THEY GAVE MY A TOPPING I DIDNT ASK FOR read more

Great place if you have unlimited time. Interesting collection of eclectic local beers. If you are in a hurry to eat, however, stay away. You can starve waiting to be served... read more

Friendly service and good pizza/subs for a small town joint. You won't confuse it with gourmet pizza...but it is definitely the best pizza option within 20 miles if you ever find yourself hungry in Poolesville. read more

This place is awesome! If you like great craft beer and great pizza you have to try this place! I've been meaning to try Cugini's for about a year; I did today via white's ferry from Leesburg. Daniel who tends bar is a craft beer aficionado; pizza was some of the best I've had in the area! Can't wait to go back! read more

Depends on who's working but not bad. There's nothing too special about the food but they do have a good selection of beer.

We've lived nearby for the past ten years and have ordered carry out and have eaten in many times and usually the food is fairly good. But I was very disappointed today when I ordered 8 Italian subs (half size). Since this order was really 4 large subs cut in half, I think the person who took my order should have told me that, and charged me for four full ones, saving me about 10 dollars. I paid the $49.95 that I was charged, and when I was handed the bag, I told the cashier that it would have been nice if I'd been told that since all the subs were the same and it was just a matter of wrapping them separately, and Cugini's could have charged me 10 dollars less. She said "sorry about that". That was it. read more

Service has been dreadful for years, the food is mediocre (and they often run out of basics like eggplant) and it's a kind of unattractive creepy place. Closed on Memorial Day? There's an example of how they put their customers first. If it wasn't pretty much the only pizza place in town, there's no way they'd still be in business. I would say they don't think they have to try since they have a captive audience. read more

This place isn't worth the trip. Food is ok but nothing special; as in all the ingredients are there but it's not flavorful. Service is ok - not overly friendly but gets the job done. Very expensive for what it is. read more

I ordered pizza and Philly cheese steak. The Pizza was the worst pizza I have ever had. The Philly chesse steak was only bread and no meat or cheese what so ever. I don't know why they call it a cheese steak with no meat or cheese. I have never before had worse food and the lady in front (Maybe the owner) was not very frendly. I don't think I will ever come back again. read more

The food is pretty good, the service is friendly, they are kid friendly and you don't have to wait for a table. They are a better value than anything else around. You'd pay a 1/3 more for the same thing in Kentlands. What is very nice is the beer selection. They do have some Nascar beer if that's what you're into, bot they also have a solid selection on draft and in the bottle at reasonable prices. read more

Yummie awesome pizza. The crust is divine...the sauce isn't always consistent, sometimes too sweet. But overall really satisfying.

I was debating between giving Cugini's 3 stars or 4 stars. In reality I would give it a 3.5, but I eventually gave it 4 stars just because the food is delicious. The only food I have tried is the pizza, the cheesy bread, and the curly fries (the plain ones and the ones with cheese). The main reason I keep coming back to this restaurant is because of the cheesy bread. A large cheesy bread is about the same size as a medium pizza, but less expensive, therefore I reccommend visitors order that. The pizza is good as well and so are the curly fries. Not as good as the cheesy bread, but still good. The reason I was going to give Cugini's a lower rate was because of the workers and their customer service. For one thing, I once tried to order over the phone, but everytime the line would go straight to a message. I assumed it was because there were other people calling, so I waited about 5 minutes. Once again, the phone was not working. After calling again 3 times, I eventually decided to go over the actual restaurant. I was not the only one wondering why the phone was not working. Other people waiting for their order were complaining they had to come to the actual restaurant because Cugini's phones were not working. Turns out the phone was off the hook. Not only that, but while I was there, I witness the main woman who works there being rude to the students. A girl- a paying customer- asked the woman a question, and the woman with a very rude and curt tone answered back, but when an adult walked in and asked a question as well, the woman's demeanor immediately changed and she answered the question, but not begrudgingly as she had done with the girl. Overall, though their food is great, their workers and customer service are deeply lacking. read more
