This was sent back and having waited a few minutes it came back out, (I think a second piece of the same slab of lasagne ), which I cut through the centre again for this to also Not be hot enough so again was sent back, I waited a further 10 minutes by which time my partner had all but finished his meal for mine to come out piping hot. The salad I had originally put on my plate was shoved on a side plate with some of the meat from the original lasagne so was not edible. Due to the portion size of my partners dish he was still hungry so ordered a second portion of the pork. Whilst sitting the table next to us had there food brought out and I happened to notice the difference in portion size, surprisingly they were italian and us British ! As a kitchen Manager none of this is OK, and I am now sat here after the meal really concerned I will have a terrible stomach in the next few hours from the under heated Pork mince ! When spoken to about the issues they seemed to find the portion sizing funny and no amendment to our bill, just a ' free' bottle of his house wine, great for someone that does Not drink and is only here for few days with limited baggage allowance. I've got a mixed experience with this place…read more Ordered two of their popular dishes - the traditional tordello (filled pasta with meat) and the truffle pasta. The tordello was nice. Full of flavour, quite unique, the skin texture was not too thin, not too thick. The truffle pasta was disappointing though. Nothing wrong with it, but at 25 euros, it was a pricey dish compared to what you can get elsewhere in Lucca. I get the feel that this place is popular due to its reputation. But its trying to charge high end prices (for example 3.50 euro cover charge, which is what most higher end places charge) but you're not really getting amazing dishes consistently. I'd suggest just walking by and looking through the window where you can see how the tordello is home-made. Then head elsewhere (eg Ristorante Giglio was amazing) for food.

My elder daughter found this when we planned a day trip to the leaning tower of Pisa. There were a bunch of locals and some tourists at lunch time. The lady who took our order was very cheerful and took pains to explain the Italian-only menu. We ordered some prosecco and they proceeded to cool it in a bucket, while they served the appetizers: The shrimp was crispy and you can eat the skin, sauce was delicious. My grilled Seafood platter was an incredible value, I had salmon, squid, a large prawn, skate and some branzino, with some vegetables. The branzino filet (they call it sea bass) with olives was also quite tasty, as well as the gnocchi in pesto. The only one we didn't like so much was the sliced steak, which was just okay (still, not bad for . I guess here one should order seafood. The gentlemen proprietor offered us the digestif Amaro, which had a very interesting taste and really rounded out the meal. Definitely recommended for lunch or dinner.

The portion wasn't big, it was the first course (primo piatto). I ate 2/3 of the spaghetti and found a hair inside (5 cm long grey hair). It was the first time ever I found hair in a meal in the restaurant. Quietly I reported this to an older woman who smiled, told me it's nothing, that it's just something they put in the food and threw the hair away. I simply just couldn't eat it anymore because it was a hair. Sadly, didn't make a photo. I approached to the counter where two men were releasing invoices. I got printed invoice from a man who directed me to another to pay. I was going to pay with a credit card. I mentioned the hair again to this other while I was going to tap the card on the machine. The other man started to shout as soon as he heard, said I don't need to pay shouting and sent me away in a rude manner. I was upset by this behaviour, took a walk, came back, the shouting man was there alone. I gave him 6 euros for the wine. He took it and completely lost his temper! Shouting that I don't know what the real food is, that I eat only industrial food, that it wasn't a hair but a piece of celery (il sedano) etc. I stood there trying to explain that my intentions were not to have free lunch but he was shouting more and more. So I left. I cook and I never put celery in this meal. I asked in several restaurants in Florence if they put celery in the spaghetti al pomodoro. All of the chefs were very surprised by my question and all of them said NO. No celery in this recipe.
