I emailed back and forth with owners Robert and Angela to narrow down specifics, and they were helpful and prompt with each response. I received email reminders leading up to our move, and a phone call the morning of our move when the truck was 15 minutes out. Robert and Robert (or Rob and Bert!) arrived right on time and ready to work. They did a quick walk-thru of the space with us, where we identified which items were going where (we had to stop at a storage unit before the home we were moving into). After that, they packaged all of our items with care, and safely loaded everything onto the truck! It took around four hours to complete our move, and at around $800 total, it was well worth the price. The two Roberts were friendly, professional, and fast while still moving larger pieces carefully. We would definitely hire A&R Moving Solutions again, and highly recommend them to anyone in need of moving services in Greater Nashville.

This time, moving the same amount of belongings (just from a 1st floor to a 3rd floor, across town), everything fell apart. I paid for 3 movers plus a full kitchen pack. The crew arrived without packing supplies and said they didn't know packing was part of the job. They also didn't know the destination had stairs. From there, it derailed. Despite paying for three men, one walked off and another sat in the truck for over an hour, leaving me and a single crew member to pack and stage a majority of the load. Meanwhile, the driver spent about 90 minutes of his shift meandering around looking busy while complaining to the crew -- in front of me, in my own home -- about how this "wasn't what he was told," repeating things like "who books a packing job in the afternoon." When I finally told him not to worry about the stairs since I'd move everything to a first-floor storage unit instead, he got defensive, asked if I was saying he wasn't working, grabbed his toolbox, said he didn't have to work for me, and stormed out -- leaving me, a single woman, in a tense standoff with three strangers in my kitchen. I manage properties for a large multifamily company and will not be recommending this mover to residents, friends, or in any move-in materials. I've done six cross-country moves and countless local ones -- I know how this works, and this was by far the worst experience I've had. I ended up hiring a second company because I no longer trusted this crew on the stairs. The cherry on top was when payment time arrived and they tried to charge me for a fourth crew member when I didn't authorize that, had no clue they were even sending another person--and yet tried to charge me for that! Frankly, I should've only been charged for a two person crew when in reality I barely had that! So disappointing in every way, especially the final billing. It was a little upsetting to see how much work was left, and we were too exhausted to do it. I started calling professional movers to see if there was any chance we could get someone out immediately. i was lucky to call Move-It-Moving. Tremaine said he could be there with a crew in 20 minutes. The job involved moving everything up a flight of stairs (they were in a basement apartment) and the uHaul wasn't very close to the apartment door. It was quite a lot of work, and to make it even more complicated, it was pouring rain. Tremaine came right over, and within 90 minutes, had the entire 15 foot U-Haul packed front to back, top to bottom. They saved the day! Everything was packed with care, and arrived safely in Chicago. As a realtor, I didn't even have a company I could recommend to my clients, however on my recent personal move I received a postcard from This Side Up - a relative new comer to the area and decided to give them a try after meeting their area manager Jacob. They turned up promptly, managed to get their vehicle up my driveway (no other company had been able to do this) without causing damage and the crew worked diligently all day with humor and the utmost care. They even reassembled my daughters bed better than the original bed company. A couple of items were left off the truck since I had under estimated the amount of boxes I would have. Rather than cram them on and risk damaging items, they came back the next day at no additional charge. They also disconnected and reconnected my washer and dryer as part of the service. I would definitely use them again and look forward to referring them to my clients.

Cost was also a big plus. cons: really the only con was speed. These are not the movers you imagine who look like the Hulk and just move non stop. If you need the move to happen as quickly as humanly possible maybe this isn't a great choice, but the reality is the rate was so low and there was no trip charge for me so the cost was still in my expected range.
