We brought our two-year-old son in for his second haircut, first haircut at Cubby Cuts. Our son was crying and moving around the entire time (as toddlers do), but the stylist remained incredibly calm, patient, and precise throughout the whole process. He did an amazing job working with our son's curly hair, and the final result looked fantastic. We really appreciated how gentle and professional he was, even under challenging circumstances. We'll definitely be coming back and recommending this place to our friends! read more

We arrived 30 mins early for our appt on a Sunday afternoon. They were able to accommodate us but we should have showed up at our appt time. They only serve one family at a time which I think was helpful for our son. He was able to sit in his own chair this time. They had a show on that kept his attention the whole time. Mike was patient and helpful. Our son was so happy with the whole experience he high fived Mike and said he wants to come back. So thankful for this place. Definitely recommended and will come back. read more

Gave my boy a literal mullet. And no, I didn't ask for it. He just cut the front super short and left the back entirely long without blending it in. As a stylist they should know better and advise. read more

If you are wondering if this kid's salon is worth the price, it is. The fastest haircut my son has ever gotten (15 minutes flat) AND the highest quality. A perfect cut. The salon is fun - everything you would want for kids - whimsy, lots of tvs playing kid's shows, fun vehicle chairs. read more

If you're looking for a place to get your child's haircut then you've come to the right place!! I've been going to Cubby Cuts for my kids haircut for the past few years and it's always a great experience. Yes it is more costly then other places but you definitely get your moneys worth. You get personalized attention and care for your child's hair experience. Booking through their app is super simple and convenient. There's plenty of parking! You arrive and you feel like you have the whole place to yourself, which you do! It's personalized care as you are the only client in the room. We've always had the pleasure to be with Mike and he is absolutely fabulous! So patient, kind and attentive, everything needed to cut your child's hair. He's also very good at his job and knows what styles are good for your kids. My kids always leave Cubby Cuts looking SO fine!!! Highly recommend this place for your child's next hair cut!! read more

Very cute ambience for kids and the hairstylist was amazing! He was so great with kids and managing their hair. Also gave us a bunch of tips on styling our kid's hair, very nice overall. The place looks like a toy wonderland, our kid was totally calm and happy! Definitely recommend! read more

Mike is a GEM. He runs the best kids salon in the bay. He is patient and calm with my 4 year old who's autistic. He cries a lot but Mike handles it well and uses words of encouragement to try to calm him. We've been coming to Mike for about 2 years now. We've tried to use others when he's booked but it never works out. His space is clean and is kid friendly. Plan ahead because he's a busy guy! read more

I'm so sad I didn't come here for my sons first haircut where he was SO traumatized by their poor actions. ANYWAY ;) THIS PLACE IS AMAZING. It's clean, it's "appealing" to kids, and overall a great place. The sir who cut my sons hair while he screamed his butt off was so patient, kind and SO quick lol he wasn't phased by my sons tears and managed an AMAZING haircut and SO quickly (thoroughly impressed by his speed!!)! Definitely our new spot, thank you!! read more

Mike was great! We came in very nervous since our last experience wasn't successful. Mike was very welcoming and provided a calm atmosphere environment for our son. We love how it was a 1 on 1 session and there were no other individuals around, as us parents know, haircuts can be very overstimulating to all. 10/10 recommend and he even gave me a tip on my new haircut! Definitely will be back and found our go-to guy! read more

I took my daughter here for her first haircut on 4/2 after the rave reviews I read and even traveled from east bay. However, it's taken me nearly two weeks to finally post my experience because of how our appointment went and I will definitely not be returning. 10/10 do not recommend. This is how it went - 1. Our appointment was at 10AM and despite receiving several reminders to ensure that we are timely, the stylist himself was late to arrive and open. 2. The stylist did not introduce himself to our daughter and despite all the prep I did, she was still very nervous because he didn't make any effort to connect with her. At a certain point, I let him know that if he made the slightest effort to engage, it may help with the situation. He tried but it was not helpful at that point. 3. The pictures speak for themselves - I asked for one length cut but this is what we got. Choppy and completely uneven. For the fear of taking off more length, I now need to wait for it to grow out before correcting this mess. read more

We had attempted our baby's very first haircut around 6 months - it took us forever since we had NO idea what we were doing...he freaked out so bad and cried like a hot mess! We decided that we would go to a professional for his next haircut and see what difference it makes. I found this place near where we lived and decided to drop-in - we got super lucky as there was ONE open spot right after we got in. Mike was super awesome and finished the haircut in record time - the toy car that my son sat in definitely helped distract him for a good 45 seconds before he realized what was going on. He cried, of course, but not nearly as bad as when we did the haircut at home. Thanks to Mike, my son looked great in his new hairdo for weeks to come! read more

Mike did a great job for a toddler's first haircut. Booking the appointment online was easy and I got a quick confirmation. We arrived shortly before our appointment time and only had to wait a couple minutes before we could go in. The space is set up to be very kid friendly with toys, cool chairs, and videos playing. Mike spent time asking us what we wanted from the haircut and if we wanted to save any hair (first cut). Unfortunately the toddler was not happy sitting in the awesome kid's chair, so he sat on my lap. Mike worked around wiggles and nervous tears, but still did a fabulous job. I definitely recommend it and we'll be going back in the future. Note: Mike was already wearing a mask when we arrived, which is great. One less thing to ask someone to do these days. read more

Took my 15month old son for his first haircut and had such a great experience! We booked an appointment online which was great since we were able to work around my son's nap and snack routine. The facility is catered to children. There's lots of fun stuff to keep my son entertained as we waited for our turn. Come time for our turn, my son was safely buckled into one of the fun chairs and my request was granted to make the first cut. Note that only 1 parent is allowed in the cutting area at a time. The complete haircut took less than 15 minutes and turned out great! Pretty impressive given it took me more than 15 minutes to even attempt a single snip at home and even then, I couldn't do it. Skip the potential traumatic experience of trying to cut your toddler's hair and check out Cubby Cuts! read more

Took my daughter here for her first haircut today. She's almost 2 and in the midst of serious stranger danger, so we prepped by watching haircut videos and talking about how a stranger was going to touch her hair and give her a haircut. We fully expected she would flip out and we'd have to leave. But instead, we were shocked to have such an excellent experience. She had fun playing with the toys for ten minutes before her appointment. Then she met Mike and checked out all of the cool Elmo decorations in the salon area. She sat in the car hair station and let Mike do his thing. He asked us a lot of questions about what we wanted, and was very quick and skilled with her. At one point, he could tells she was getting wiggly and he grabbed her an Elmo book to get her to stay still. Overall, my daughter had a very fun and not at all traumatic first haircut. She even gave Mike a high five when we were done. Much better than expected and glad we were recommended this place. :) read more

Very grateful to have found such a kid paradise so close to home! Mike took care of my 30 month old Afro haircut perfectly! Also got an appointment very easily on a Sunday afternoon! My son is asking when we are coming back because of the great car and train chairs and the friendliness of Mike! Last but not least the fact that the whole place was to ourselves and that each customer has to wait for their appointment is a great service to prevent the spreading of all the seasonal diseases! Again Thanks! read more

I have a 2 year old who HATES to have his hair touched. Even washing his hair is a struggle for me, so, although I cut the hair of my older child, he was a no-go. I needed a professional and I turned to Cubby Cuts. I walked in for our first appointment and explained the situation. No worries. My job was to basically hold my kid down while his hair was cut. 3 minutes! It was done and looked better than anything I could have managed myself. $25 for a kid's haircut is at the upper end of what I'm willing to pay. But they save me from an afternoon of misery so for me, it's completely worth it. read more

Super professional. My son went here for his first haircut. We assumed it would be a nightmare. However the hairdresser just put him in the chair, and started cutting the hair. Highly recommend! Super cute atmosphere for little ones. Was nervous to have my 14 month old get her hair cut because she is very wiggly, but they did a great job putting her at ease. Took my 2 year old son to Cubby Cuts today and it was a fantastic experience. My son felt very comfortable and no crying. His first experience getting his hair cut by a professional a few months prior today was not a good experience cause my son was screaming bloody murder but that was not the case today. He liked sitting on the Wiggles Car and watching TV. The stylist was very polite and was great with my son. He did a fantastic job on his hair. We will for sure be back again for his next haircut. Update: been here two more times since the first time I brought my son. They are still amazing with my son by being really good with him. My little guy does not normally sit still for long but he will for them while they are cutting his hair. They do a fantastic job on his hair cut as well. I highly recommend them for children's hair cuts. read more

This is our go to place for my daughter's hair cut. This place is THE place for kids haircut. There are small tv units with Disney shows going on that draws kids attention. The chairs are in shape of train, tractor, cars and trucks and the kids get to chose what chair they want to use. The stylist here is very good with kids and very calm. He maintains 100 mask on during the whole procedure and we have always enjoyed coming here. My daughter loves this place. Appointments are taken only online. read more

Highly recommend! My son won't even let us touch his hair, so when it comes to cutting we put it off for two years until a friend recommended this place. Hi. I've been coming here for over a year but my son has only gotten a couple hair cuts in that span. Let me tell you, Mike has been awesome with my autistic son. My son hates the hairs coming down on his body so I can't and he won't let me cut his hair because of this even with the gown on. Mike does it quick and efficient for working with an autistic child. I highly recommend this place especially for parents who have kids with disabilities. read more

We recently took our son here for a haircut.. We've had bad experiences at a couple other places where the people don't listen to what we have asked for them to do with our sons hair. I came in and told Mike exactly what we wanted and he did exactly that. We loved the haircut.. It is a little pricey for us, but the good old saying you get what you pay for is true. It was worth the money and we will be back! read more

Let me start this by saying that my 3 year old son has autism and other special needs, so while a lot of kids dislike haircuts he's usually a level beyond. His meltdown at another kids hair salon required two hair stylists to complete the cut (and I think we were about to get kicked out). Needless to say, haircuts are usually a stressful and sad experience for both of us. I hate to see him unhappy, but he was way overdue for a cut. I warned the staff at Cubby Cuts about this ahead of time, and they reassured me it would be no problem. I've heard that before, so I had my doubts - but we gave it a try and made an appointment for this afternoon. Right off the bat, my son loved the play area, and I appreciated that the kids are pretty much fenced in so I could let him roam. Eventually the time came to start the haircut. After a brief discussion, Mike took charge and cut and clipped away. The whole process was super quick (maybe 10 minutes if that), and the haircut looked great. Amazingly, my son didn't scream or cry AT ALL. This literally hasn't happened since his first haircut almost three years ago! I know every kid is different, but for us, Mike was just what we needed. Kudos for his confidence and speed, and mostly for his willingness to work with kids with special needs. As other special needs parents know, people who can work well with our kids are a godsend. Thanks Mike - we'll be back! read more
