I used to love coming here for Flautas and Chile Chicken enchiladas but something has changed. Service is still good though. I've lived here for over a year now and visit almost weekly. My last two visits are most likely my last visit. The food used to be perfectly seasoned but not anymore. It is now like a hospital cafeteria. I feel they know this though. We came here on a work trip for a very early breakfast. Walking in around 0605, we found the place to already have some customers. Our attentive waitress took our orders and brought out a plate of store bought chips with house made green salsa. I had the enchiladas montadas plate - an assembly of three cheese enchiladas topped with eggs made to order, flanked by refried beans and rice. The enchiladas had also been covered in a bright red sauce. Everything was hot, fresh and tasty. Our waitress then brought out the most delicious red salsa - a red-orange concoction of spice and flavor that hit me like a lightning bolt. Amazing! All of our food was delicious and all of our plates were picked clean. I can't wait to come back in a few days for more. I am not even a breakfast person and I can't stop thinking about how good it was here. read more

This place has always been my go to spot to eat before I head to the airport (nearby) to fly back to San Francisco. No matter the time of day, it's always a hoppin spot with non stop lines through the drive thru and a full dining room. Over the years the consistency has dwindled and this last time, the changes were very obvious. My cup was so dirty with things floating inside, the chips were not fresh or made in house, but rather store bought. And the food, although good, didnt have the authenticity I've always found this place to have. The service is always stellar! The menu has something for everyone and they offer full menu all day. The prices are incredible for what you get. Maybe they've had a change of ownership or management recently, but I do wish they'd go back to what was great before. This is a hole in the wall local Mexican but not your run of the mills Taquerias more in terms of the food. Their Caldo de res is fantastic made of fresh ingredients such as large carrots and zucchinis, and large chunks of beef. Their lunch specials is always under $10, so a great value. The service is impeccable fast and efficient. The place is Fabuloso clean! The restaurant is colorful, inviting and a tribute to Cuauhtemotzín, or Guatémoc, who was the Aztec ruler of Tenochtitlan, making him the last Aztec Emperor.The name Cuauhtemōc means "one who has descended like an eagle". So like the Eagle this place is a great dive offering tremendous value and a fantastic Caldo. The only issue is that someone slash my tire in the parking. This was a very busy place on a Monday a 9. The drive thru was very popular and there was a stream of folks impatient with the car line who would walk in and line up. So don't get a seat between the door and the cashier in the a.m. unless you want someone standing over your seat for most of your meal. The waitress was pretty good, though not attentive. The place was clean and ready for a crowd. Fortunately, it wasn't packed. Might get that way at lunch. It started off with a small bowl of chips and salsa. Nothing special, but it was a breakfast surprise. I ordered the Chilaquiles in red sauce. It tasted ok, but wasn't the best I've had. It was a very big soupy, cheesy pile of everything stewed together. If that's your thing, you'll love it. Wish I tried something else. read more

Ok so realize that the ambiance is that of a casual "hole-in-the-wall" BUT this place gave us a great lunch. We were in a rush and called ahead to see if it was possible to get in and out in 30 minutes. They had a "yes" attitude do we went! We each ordered the large Chicken Caldo and it was wonderful. Flavorful large pieces of zucchini and carrots simmered alongside cabbage and large pieces of boneless chicken chunks in a homemade broth. A really filling large bowl was $10, served with spicy salsa, homemade corn tortillas, and slices of lime. The food is really good service was fast , not a big place but the food makes up for that.

So my husband and I were out and about doing errands and we decided to check this place out. They have a drive thru but we decided to eat in. Very clean, friendly staff and were seated right away. Our waitress was super friendly and made the experience much more enjoyable. We told her this was the first time going there and what she recommended. She said all the platos Mexicano were really good and the shrimp tacos. My husband ended up ordering a limonada with the Chile relleno and I got an Horchata with the shrimp tacos. His plate came with flour tortillas which were so delicious and our waitress let us know the rellenos were actually just finished so they were hot off the stove. They weren't greasy and looked like they were pan fried vs deep. My husband seriously liked them and ate both the rellenos that came with the order. My shrimp tacos were amazing! It came with 3 tacos, rice and fries. The tortillas were really good and each taco had 2 med/large shrimp inside. They were lightly fried so they had a good crunch to them with every bite. They put a sauce on top which had a small kick but was more mellow and savory than spicy. The fries are homemade but done very well. So far some of the best shrimp tacos I've had! I also really enjoyed the horchata which was sweet (my husband said it was super sweet but it was perfect for me.) but it helped me enjoy the salsa that came with our meal which was spicier than I thought. All in all, my husband and I enjoyed our food and can't wait to try more from their menu but I will admit, we weren't the biggest fans of the rice. It just was too overpowering with seasoning. But it wasn't such a huge deal that we still feel the place deserves 5 stars and is probably gonna be a new favorite of mine. read more

Every time I go to the EP area this is my breakfast stop. It's right off Montana among the car dealerships close to the hotels I stay at. This is a pretty simple review to make. All the food here is good, I've never had bad service from anyone working here, and since the locals love the place you know it must have something going on. My go to is their breakfast burrito, The Mustang. Papas, frijoles, jamon and a couple of over easy huevos make you a breakfast burrito that will get you going. Chips and salsa are complimentary (the salsa def has some kick to it). For $5.84 I get this big ass burrito and a nice size glass of jamaica (refillable). You just can't beat the value here. If you're in the EP swing in and give them a shot, you won't regret it. read more

Needed something to get day 2 of our El Paso trip started and settled here. Nice place with bright colors all around. I ordered the Migas and Bobbie chorizo and eggs. Mine came with refried beans and Bobbies with beans and hashbrowns. The Migas is scrambled eggs with chorizo, tortilla chips and avocado with sour cream on top. Bobbies chorizo and eggs was done the normal way with scrambled eggs mixed with mexican chorizo. Both of our chorizos had a great flavor and a good mix of chorizo to eggs. My tortilla chips were mixed into the chorizo/egg mixture very well with some crunch still there. About the only down side was the avocado was a bit under ripe. Not surprising this time of year though. Overall a nice breakfast. read more

I was eyeing the enchiladas montadas (enchiladas with eggs on top), I'm a visual person so once I saw the plate I liked I ordered it. Soon after the plate arrived full of food. Such a cute little restaurant! Parking can be a mess during lunch hour since the space is so little and the drive thru line runs through the parking spots. Our waitress provided us with great customer service and the food was delicious. The complimentary chips and salsa are very good! Our chips were still warm and tasted freshly made! (Salsa was a little too spicy for me) The hubs ordered the carne milanesa plate which included a small salad, beans, rice, and tortillas. I had the chicken flautas plate and my plate included 6 flautas, rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream, and also a small salad. How was it? The food tasted amazing! Homemade cooking and everything had such great flavor! Prices are very reasonable and the portions are big!
