His price was very reasonable. When Max and Mike came to change the floors, they unfortunately found mold and tiles with asbestos as well as water damage throughout our downstairs. Our kitchen, living room, bathroom, water heater closet, and fourth bedroom needed to be gutted. Max was a wizard with our homeowners insurance. He helped us deal with them every step of the way to make sure we got every dollar we could for them. We ended up changing the layout of our kitchen and adding a peninsula, moving our stackable laundry from the kitchen to the garage, expanding our bathroom, putting a tankless water heater on the back of our house, and repiping. The "beam" holding up our first floor were actually two 2x6's held together with drywall screws. Max installed a gorgeous beam that isn't an earthquake nightmare waiting to happen. Max gave us great advice and coordinated each contractor to come on a seamless schedule. He gave continual updates and was on site almost daily. Every time I added or changed something, Max gave me advice or suggested something better. When the stucco guys ended up finding mold on the front of our house, Max opened the wall in our third bedroom and found old, horrifying termite damage. What could have been one of the worst days of our lives, ended up being just an annoying blip. Our home is so gorgeous now. Our neighbors would come by just to marvel at house beautiful it is. Project manager Josef was excellent in bringing in his partners (designers, foreman, etc.) to ensure from the design to finish we were collaborating and satisfied with the end result. For the garage, we had it drywalled (no insulation), installation of a attic ladder (bought from Home Depot) to make use of a pre-built storage area, updated garage door and exterior lighting. Front yard included adding extra pavement to be able to park two cars on the driveway (we have the pre WW II one car driveway) but looks like a part of the front yard design, installation of artificial grass (YAY), redo of the front porch to include redoing the porch ceiling with a bare wood look, and installation of a pathway to the front steps. We had 3 home improvement projects in the last couple of years (including this project) and WTG Builders was the best in terms of responsiveness, communication, and setting expectations. Perhaps I'm more wiser too about projects but I appreciated Project Manager Josef's communication and updates and the various trade teams were fantastic. I had a rough vision in mind for fitting a lot into a relatively small space, but wanted to see the options rendered so I could better make the big layout and design decisions. Alexis was very patient and super helpful in mocking up each iteration until we locked in the final design. Once it was time to actually break ground, Gil, Oren, Uriel, and the rest of the team were really responsive and always available by text. Unlike previous contractors we've worked with, they usually gave us an idea of what was happening the next day/week and who to expect onsite. The first ~70% of the project went really smoothly and far exceeded my expectations. Demo, framing, rough plumbing, and electrical all largely went without a hitch. We ran into some problems towards the end around communication, timeline, and subcontractor oversight -- which led to more delays when someone punctured our new in-wall toilet tank and flooded both the bathroom and bedroom. We know every construction job runs into challenges so we weren't bent out of shape by it, and we did appreciate that GHB took full responsibility for fixing the issues. By and large we were really impressed by most of their subcontractors, especially the very professional and considerate plumbing, electrical, and tiling teams!
