The process is kind of slow, but they warn you of that and ask if you have time to actually do so before you start anything :) for first timers it'd take about 2-4 hours, for previous donors it takes much less time. You're also allowed to stop the process at any given time and they let you leave without any questions ! You get the payment as soon as your done and they're very thorough with explaining the protocols, warnings, and so on beforehand. They also make sure that you're actually able to donate - though that in itself takes a few hours. The staff is all very nice and understanding - the actual donation took 46 minutes for me. I started to panic a little (this was my first time doing anything with blood and needles), and they gave me different things to use as a stress ball and ice packs. They also slowed the process down when they saw how overwhelmed I was. Overall it was not a bad experience at all for me, I'd just make sure to keep a few hours of your day open for it and be prepared for a bit of waiting around :) read more

CSL Plasma - CSL Plasma entrance - Blood & Plasma Donation Centers Near Me - Wyoming, Michigan

CSL Plasma is the Walmart of Plasma donation centers. Personally, I was a donor there starting in 2018 and I experienced every negative thing a person could encounter from the get go. There new donor process took over 4 hours. I remember the day I joined and how inefficient the process was. For one, you cannot schedule appointments. Walk in's only. There questionnaire system "kiosk" was unreliable ( always seemed like one of the machines was down so that lead to increased wait times. Once you're finally done with that get ready to stand in long lines just to get your vitals checked, weight taken, finger poked checking your protein levels, etc. then back to standing in line forever until you finally get out on the donation floor. Most of the phlebotomist employees didn't show any type of urgency to make the process move quicker. They aren't engaging & welcoming when you're sat down and they're getting ready to poke you and start your long awaited donation. Not to mention over half of the employees who do stick you do it poorly, causing unnecessary discomfort and bleeding. I even witnessed on 2 occasions a woman and a man attempt to cut in line in front of people who had been waiting there just as long! Disgusting. They pay the least of any other available donation centers in the Grand Rapids and surrounding areas. So just do yourself a favor and avoid CSL when you can make a much better choice and donate with Biolife! They pay more than any other plasma donation center, have more locations, you can actually make appointments that fit your schedule ( you'll run into busy times there too but it's much more manageable and always more efficient) They are cleaner, larger centers. It's honestly like comparing apples to oranges. And if CSL was the Apple it's rotten to the core. Meijer vs Walmart (IYKYK lol) It's the difference of a family owned & operated business against a larger, corporate business which brings in all kinds of unwanted people (mostly referring to theft) I've personally witnessed on many occasions as a former employee! So keep in mind the saying that goes, "you get what you pay for" because that fits CSL like a glove. They are a last resort and totally not worth ANYONE'S time. read more

I went to donate today and everything seem to be going ok for once until I was finished donating and a staff member I think her name was Mary she had to take my needle out and left a piece of tape on my arm so when she pulled the needle the tape grabbed my hair and she wasn't nice about it and then she wrapped me too tight. that wasn't worse then a time before when the tall red head he/she/him. pulled my needle out fast and aggressive and blood went everywhere on my arm and the seat. some staff do a great job but there are a few bad apples read more

I had the most horrible experience here I will never be coming back. I went over two hours before they closed as a first time donor and no one was at the front desk to help me. I stood there awkwardly for a long time and no one approached me or told me what to do. Eventually, a security officer told me that they were not taking first time donors since they were busy. I have been hearing radio adds that you can make as much as 1000 dollars in your first month. I went to the wyoming location, sat there for almost 2 hours and then was told that that location did not do that. I tried to find a location that did in the state of michigan and I could not. This sounds like a bait and switch tactic that they use to get you in the door, make you wait for ever and then tell you that they do not participate in this, but by then, you have waited so long, you decide to go through with it anyways. I have filed a fraud report with the ftc and am also going to do so with the state attorney general. read more

Never again will I donate plasma for these people. The other day I went in for my 4th donation and the blood testing came back fine so they sent me on my way to the donor floor. After the associate painfully wiggled a needle in my arm for 3 minutes they finally got some bloodflow. Moments later my flow slowed down and so an associate says "ope just gotta pull the needle out a little bit" which led to leakage of blood around the needle. I informed mentioned associate about this and she says "ope that just came out when I adjusted the needle". She wiped it up and more blood continued to come out. At that point they recommended I switched arms Bc of now much they'd already messed with my other one and at that point I said I'd like to go home. She goes "that's what you wanna do?" And Im like yes this doesn't feel right and my arm hurts. So she grabs a Gatorade and hands it to me and disappears. I'm sent on my way. Later that evening after I'd forgotten about it, I develop a lightly painful sensation in my heart area which is just sketchy of course. I wait it out and just hydrate and so the next day it's still there. I am freaking out at this point considering going to the ER (I'm 24 never had heart issues before) but I'm like man I don't wanna pay for an ER visit because this was clearly a result of the botched donation. So I call CSL and inform to be what sounded like someone's teenage son working the front desk. I inform him and he says "it's most likely because of anxiety, but I'd still go to the ER. Lemme put you on HOLD and ask my manager." I held for 8 minutes. Then an associate picks up the phone and tells me to HOLD AGAIN. Held again for another 3 minutes. After explaining to the "manager" what was going on she advised that I have to pay for the ER visit myself and that nothing was done wrong. Then..... This is what is crazy: she tells me SHE RECOMMENDS THAT INSTEAD OF THE ER, I GO IN AND THEY'LL EVALUATE ME RATHER THAN THE TRAINED PROFESSIONALS IN AN ER DEPT. she literally said this and I confirmed that THEY DO RECORD ALL OF THEIR PHONE CALLS. I would like that recording so I can share it with the world so none of my friends and family ever step foot in this travesty of a "clinic". read more

I visited this center a couple weeks ago, and as I was waiting in line for the staff to check me in, take vitals, etc., I noticed the 3 associates were not changing their gloves between clients. One associate was sliding her gloved fingers across a blood sample tube for the client in front of me and was not going to change her gloves when I sat down for my check-in. I had to ask her kindly to change her gloves. This is a serious health risk and completely unacceptable. I filed a complaint with CSL on their website; however, I wanted others to be aware if they choose to use their services. I honestly will not be returning. read more

I donated plasma starting in December of 2019 as a new donor, there are set "bonus" amounts scheduled to be received by each new donor which I was made aware of at the time of the initial donation, I was also given a flyer that outlined the payment schedule for the new donor schedule. Prior to the completion of my new donor phase the payments being offered to new donors changed and I was notified of this after my donation when the amount I was paid for my donation was different than what it should have been according to the new donor flyer I was given @ my initial visit, at this point I really had no choice in the matter as I had already made my donation. I was given a new card at this time indicating the 2nd new donor schedule that I was to reference to obtain my payment information. I called on 4/6/20 to inquire about the donation process with the social distancing and to verify that this was my 8th and final donation as a new donor for which I would be compensated $100 to be told by the staff member as well as the site manager if I recall correctly her name was Jennifer that I was not eligible to receive the $100 payment specified on the card I was given with the updated new donor amount as the 8 donations were to be completed with in 45 days I did let her know that this stipulation was not indicated on either of the flyers I have and this was never communicated to me. She was unable or unwilling to explore any option of compromise or adhering to what the documents received by CSL stated or failed to state. She told me that me" spreading the donations out defeated the purpose of my plasma being collected" this statement I did not understand as I was under the impression that whatever plasma I donated would be a welcomed tool to the creation of medications vital to individuals in need her communication made me feel very devalued as a donor and created doubt as to whether or not I could continue to donate at CSL and trust the documents I receive when donating at this facility. I was more than willing to compromise in this situation but was not given the option and ended the conversation feeling like my plasma donation was less than appreciated.
