Only time you may have a slow day is when it's busy in there, since only so many people can be taken at a time. But if you go in on a slow time / day, the procedure is quick and you're out in about 45-50 min once you begin the procedure. This made me feel very uncomfortable and gave me the impression that I was already being stereotyped. Shortly after, she came back and told me that the position had already been filled by internal candidates. If that was the case, I don't understand why I was asked to come in for an interview in the first place. Overall, the experience felt very unprofessional and disappointing. I was genuinely interested in working with CSL Plasma and expected a more respectful and organized hiring process. In my opinion, if this is the way they treat candidates at this location, I really don't want to see how they treat donors. Find another place!

I have been donating plasma at OctaPharma in North Lauderdale for a long time, on and off. Some staff members are friendlier than others, but that's to be expected. However, nobody has ever been as rude, disrespectful, and immature as the person I encountered yesterday. This visit was was made extremely unpleasant by a new phlebotomist, Michael. From the moment he approached me, he had an attitude. When I politely requested a different phlebotomist who knows how to handle my difficult veins, he took it personally. He accused me of interfering with his ability to do his job and when I calmly responded that there was no need to be hostile, he continued being rude, saying that as long as I kept talking, he would keep talking, and finished with telling me to "stop running my mouth." At that point, I mumbled something to myself in Russian, a language he most certainly does not speak. He took offense, immediately stopped working on another donor, turned around and went to the office window to complain to the floor supervisor. Then he continued for quite a while to complain about me in to another phlebotomist who engaged with him. I did not hear what she said, but she certainly did not tell him to stop or that it was inappropriate. He also watched me intently every time I spoke with staff after that, as if it were any of his business. The supervising phlebotomist promised to address the situation. This kind of behavior from a phlebotomist who is entrusted with putting needles into people's arms brings the place down and makes it look as trashy as his behavior. I expect a professional in a medical facility to leave personal anger issues, poor attitude, and lack of self-control at the door--and certainly not direct them at donors.

I had a very nice technician Belinda who was very concerned about my comfort throughout the entire process. For those of you who've never given blood; the process is not that bad. These technicians really knowledgeable and skillful. So please thoughtfully consider giving blood. Update: After testing positive for COVID-19 antibodies, I went back and donated my plasma. I had no symptoms guys so please keep wearing your mask. Everyone at OneBlood was so nice throughout the entire procedure. Yes, it's long but it's for a great cause.

Yup, that's the old bloodletting routine that leaches and barbers once performed. It's the procedure in which red blood cells are removed from the body in a manner similar to donating blood. When red blood cells are taken out of the body, it lowers hemoglobin levels. So, the ultimate results are the same as with the barbers and leaches, but we now have some really skilled phlebotomists which is what lead me to OneBlood. OneBlood is not only used for phlebotomy but also for taking blood donations. It's really super clean, everything is so very orderly and the staff is not only super knowledgeable about what they are doing but friendly as well. I was really uptight about all this, but they put me at ease. First they gave me a simple blood test by pricking my finger in order to assure that the phlebotomy was necessary. In my case it was, but I shouldn't have been in fear. I assumed a comfortable seat on a couch like table where my arm was prepared for the bloodletting. To my astonishment I never felt the needle go into my arm and when the procedure was done, I had absolutely no bruises whatsoever. That to me was real testament as to how professional the people at OneBlood are as every time I normally have blood drawn, I end up with a horrid bruising along with a number of failed stab wounds.
