I have donated here more than 10 times now even though I live more than 8 miles away just because the experience is so comfortable in comparison to the limited space on the bus. I bring my own headphones with an aux cable to watch Netflix while donating. Estrella in particular is incredible at getting the needle in with no pain. I work at a hospital and we're always short on platelets (they barely last a week in storage) so please donate!

Weird since I walked in to an empty facility. Check-in was pretty straightforward, and since I was donating platelets for a relative, they asked for other info that I was able to get over the phone. The apherisis equipment was an updated version from what I was used to (one arm instead of two) and the procedure took quite a while - about 2 1/2 hours. Entertainment options were pretty good and it was nice to get a T shirt at the end.

Recently I accompanied a friend to go to OneBlood to donate his blood. When we got there, the place…read morehad just opened for the day, and a nice lady with dark long hair and glasses greeted us. She told my friend to sign in and wait while they get set up. Another lady, who only spoke Spanish, told my friend to go in one of the little offices. In there, she asked my friend questions about his personal information. Then his old record from The Red Cross popped up showing that the last time he donated was almost 20 years ago. Wow! We did not know that OneBlood's systems are connected with Red Cross' database. After gathering and verifying his information, she told him to go to one of the beds at the back and help himself to juices and snacks. There, a young lady started setting up for the blood donation. Earlier, I had spoken to the first lady sharing my friend's last blood donation experience that the employee had done a horrible job. She assured us that the staff is professional and well experienced. However, when the young lady inserted the needle into my friend's arm, she had trouble and I saw his face in pain. I looked around to see if the first lady was around. Then the young lady called for her assistance. She came over, adjusted the needle/tubes and then we saw blood starting to flow. She got a blue Gatorade for my friend to drink since it's recommended to hydrate while donating blood. And then she proceeded with putting an ice pack behind my friend's upper back area to stay cool. Note: Ask for the first lady to get your blood donation done because she knew what she was doing. I never got her name but she was really nice and friendly, spoke really good English and Spanish. She gave us free shirts and offered us snacks afterwards. The Yelp page states By Appointments only, but that isn't necessary. We walked in and the staff was able to help us right away.

Very disappointed with my experience at Midtown Women's Center, especially regarding billing and…read moretransparency. Before my appointment, I called twice specifically to ask about the cost and was told the out-of-pocket cost would be approximately $150-$200. I also asked again on the day of my appointment and was told my insurance would cover 100% of the service. I was extremely surprised to later receive a $339.68 bill after insurance. I understand that insurance billing can be complicated, but this is exactly why I made the effort to call twice beforehand. Florida Statute §395.301 addresses healthcare price transparency and requires covered facilities to provide timely and accurate financial information and good-faith estimates for scheduled services. Florida Statute §395.301 I have already contacted the billing department, but was told there was nothing they could do. I then contacted the Women's Center directly, and unfortunately, the staff member hung up on me. I found that extremely unprofessional and disappointing. My request is simple: please review my bill and allow me to pay the lower self-pay price I was quoted, rather than the $339.68 patient responsibility. At the very least, I deserve a clear explanation of why I was quoted $150-$200 and ultimately billed significantly more after insurance. As for the actual care, the mammogram and ultrasound staff were professional, but the overall experience could have been much warmer. A little more kindness and reassurance during these procedures would make a big difference. I hope the center takes this feedback seriously and improves both its billing transparency and customer service.
