They are definitely 5 STARS. The reception ladies were also excellent, Norma was great, told me my Surgeon was the best, and she was genuinely excited for me. Jonathan was my nurse prior to the operation. Even before he took me to the bed, he kept checking on me on the waiting area. He made sure I was ok, and at least 4 times, gave me an update and kept me informed and at ease. This was my first surgery ever, and I cannot thank God enough for putting me in the hands of these professionals. Jonathan helped me so much, until the last second. He is kind, caring, and a very good/professional nurse. The anesthesiologist came to talk to me and answered all my questions. The staff kept calling my friend who is caring for me, and kept her informed every step of the way. As far as my Surgeon, Dr. Shuster, words cannot describe how amazing, wonderful, excellent he is. From my first visit to the operation, he gave me his undivided attention, and made me feel so safe. I also want to mention Bianca, who is an OR nurse, who said she would take good care of me, and was very warm and friendly. I woke up and the nurse from the recovery room, Lori Neena, took such great care of me. She game me ice and some crackers, made sure to call my contact, game me my bag and phone, kept offering me drinks or food, and made sure I wasn't in pain. She kept me so comfortable and warm and safe. Her level of professionalism and even removing my IV, was amazing. I am so happy that the above professionals worked on me. Thank God and thanks to MHS.

They were kind, attentive, and compassionate throughout my stay. Unfortunately, my experience with other members of the hospital staff was completely different. My biggest concern began when I felt that the doctor was not listening to me as a patient or taking seriously what I was physically experiencing with my illness. I know my body, and I was trying to communicate that something was not right. After speaking with a social worker and continuing to advocate for myself, the doctor finally ordered an additional test to determine whether there was another issue that could explain what I was experiencing. While I was waiting for this test and for the doctor to determine a plan that would allow me to safely go home with something to help control my headaches, I had an extremely upsetting interaction with a social worker named Maria. Her approach made me feel as though the hospital bill was more important than my health, my well-being, and what I was physically going through. The first time Maria entered my room, she did not properly introduce herself or explain what department she was from. I had to ask one of the nurses for her name. When she came back to my room a second time, she finally identified herself, but her attitude and the way she addressed me were very unprofessional. During our first interaction, she asked whether I was staying or leaving. I attempted to explain that the doctor's plan was to find something I could safely go home on that would help control my headaches and that I was still planning to leave that same day. Before I could finish explaining the plan of care, she rudely interrupted me and began discussing the possibility of me being responsible for the bill if I stayed. I explained that I had already spoken with another caseworker who had gone over the situation with me, so I understood what could happen financially. Her response to me was essentially, "If you want to pay the bill, that's fine with me." I found this response extremely insensitive and inappropriate, especially considering that I was a patient who was still sick, in pain, and waiting for additional testing. The interaction became even more upsetting when she made another comment about me paying the bill as she walked out of my room. Shortly afterward, someone came into my room and handed me paperwork regarding the bill. At that point, I was so frustrated and upset by how the entire situation had been handled that I threw the paperwork away. My concern is not simply about receiving a bill. I understand that hospitals have financial policies and procedures that must be followed. My issue is with the lack of compassion, professionalism, and respect shown when communicating those policies to a patient who is actively dealing with a medical issue. There is a time, place, and appropriate way to discuss financial responsibility without making a patient feel as though money matters more than whether they are medically stable or feeling better. It is very sad when a patient leaves a hospital feeling as though the priority was whether the bill would be paid rather than whether the treatment they received actually helped them. Patients come to hospitals because they are sick, scared, in pain, and looking for help. They deserve to be heard by their doctors and treated with dignity and compassion by every member of the hospital staff. Again, I truly appreciate the nurses who cared for me. They were wonderful. However, the lack of communication from the doctor and, especially, the dismissive and insensitive interaction I experienced with Maria significantly affected my overall hospital experience. No patient should be made to feel that their financial responsibility is more important than their physical well-being while they are still actively receiving care.

Let's be honest, no one really looks forward to getting a mammogram, but Jet made the whole experience much easier than I expected. She explained everything as we went along, was very gentle and patient, and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. I never felt rushed or uneasy. Her warm personality and caring attitude really made a difference. Thank you, Jet, for making an appointment I was a little nervous about feel so easy and comfortable. Definitely recommend making an appointment online as the last couple times I've gone, there have been quite a few people in the waiting area and appts go before walk ins. Pro tip - avoid dairy for 2 days prior to donating to help ensure your iron levels are good. They are open 7 days a week. You can donate whole blood and platelets (not sure if they are still doing plasma and double red cell). Did you know only 2% of the population donates blood? Did you know one donation helps 3 people? Did you know when you donate, you get a free wellness check (bp, iron count, cholesterol - if you donate), usually some type of gift (shirt, blanket, cups, etc), and usually a $20 gift card voucher to pick a place of your choice. Have you made your appt yet? What are you waiting for? They are currently running a challenge that if you donate more consistently in a certain time frame, you actually get more money with each visit. Anyhow back to the location at hand. Their drink fridge is always full and snack tray is usually fully stocked with a variety of yummy snacks. They have a couple tvs usually showing random stuff without volume and music on one playing so keep that in mind if you want to bring a book or something to pass the time. If you are healthy, please consider paying a visit to these lovely folks and saving a life or three.

The place is super clean and organized, workers are friendly, and overall they have a very efficient system in place. This center is located inside a large Publix plaza, so access is easy with lots of parking available right across from the center. You can make an appointment ahead of time or they also take walk-ins. If you are looking for a blood donation center, I suggest you give this one a try.
