For another, the RI Blood Center seems to be affiliated with CT now, and they have stepped up the donor recognition since the merger. All Season donors (those of us who give once a season) can register for an annual gift. While I appreciate the recognition (and the way to casually advertise blood donation in the wind), I give regularly because it's the easiest possible way to save up to 3 lives with each donation. It's the best way I know to give back. Try it!

The receptionist is friendly and efficient, and the waiting area is comfortable with cushioned chairs and a tv. There are usually snacks and water bottles on the check in counter. All of the staff I've encountered here have been friendly, polite, and very competent. I always make an appointment and have never had to wait all that long after my scheduled time. The donation area is also clean and comfortable, and I've never felt more than a needle prick of pain while donating here, the staff are just awesome at what they do. They take great care to make sure you are comfortable and feeling ok throughout the donation process. The rest area for after you finish donating is really nice as well, and it's stocked with cold drinks, an awesome coffee & hot cocoa machine, and packaged sweet and salty snacks. I always go for the Lorna Doones. Definitely recommend this location - It's my favorite place to give blood and platelets in RI.

They keep asking me to leave a review so here it is. If you get someone good the process is great,…read morebut if you get someone who is inexperienced and pushed through the "training" this is what happens. Once the needle went in I said that didn't feel right. The technician started tapping my arm looking for the needle. He started the machine and walked away. Now there only two possible scenarios and both are not good. One, he knew he skewered my vein and left because he didn't want to deal with it. Or two, he wasn't trained enough to know how to do a "stick" and the higher ups left him to figure it out on his own. Either way the Donor loses. It felt like a ballon was inflating under my skin and was painful. Switched to the other arm to get my blood back and that vein was punctured as well. I was told "it happens. and I can't come back for two months." It happens when you don't have someone trained properly, if at all. And what happens when you let this person do sticks? You get a bunch of us with double hematomas and told we can't come back for months. Which leaves us telling everyone we can what happened and posting the reviews you asked for. You need to fix how you train because this "in house" training where there is no accountability and no actual courses taken on how to stick a vein is not working. You also have people setting up the machines while we are sitting in chairs that are not set up and waiting over 20 minutes. That does not make sense. There are some great people there and I hope they read this line where you know how much I appreciated you and I always tried to let you know. I also want to refer to one of the other reviews that mentioned about a staffer flirting. They are right. It was very obvious. And don't respond with the generic "please contact us for so we can look into this matter further" crap. You NEVER answer the phones. I left multiple messages on the generic mailbox and the nurses mailbox as I was told to and never once did I get a call back. Well you finally got me to leave a review BioLife, I hope it serves you better than you serve your customers.

Easy and plentiful parking, friendly staff, comfortable seating (both in the waiting room and donation area), private interviewing space, flat screen televisions, and tasty snacks. I usually make my appointments online but you can call the center directly as well. There are usually a number of available appointments to accommodate my busy schedule so it never feels like a chore to roll through. Every interaction I have with the staff here is a pleasant one.... from the person who calls to remind me I'm eligible to donate, to the person at the front desk, to the folks actually drawing your blood (which is saying something considering they're sticking you with a needle!). I never feel pressured into donating and they are very sincere in showing their appreciation for my time and contribution. I especially like the text messages I receive at varying points in time post-donation letting me know my blood is on it's way to someone in need! The whole process takes little time. The interview and pre-assessment are quick and simple. The donation itself is complete in 10-15 minutes. They are very skilled at accessing your veins quickly and with as little pain as possible. The snacks in the recovery area are my favorite part! I usually go for some water and an Otis Spunkmeyer cookie but the Oreos, Fig Newtons, Multi-grain chips, and pretzels are always tempting. Consider donating at this location! I have been to blood drives and other donation centers but this is the place I'm always drawn to. If it's on or near your usual route try stopping in! There are always people in need and it feels great to be able to help in this small way.

I had one of the most frustrating and disappointing experiences I've ever had with a plasma…read moredonation center. I live in Framingham and had to travel all the way to Worcester to donate at BioLife Plasma, believing everything was fine. I created an account, scheduled my donation, and followed all the steps required -- and nowhere on the website or app does it state that people who take PrEP (a medication that prevents HIV infection) are not allowed to donate. Because of this, I lost a full day of work, arrived late to my job, and spent over two hours waiting at the donation center, only to be told at the end that I couldn't donate simply because I take a medication that keeps me healthy and prevents disease. It's absolutely unacceptable that this crucial information is not clearly disclosed during the registration process. This lack of transparency caused me to waste my time, money, and energy -- all of which could have been easily avoided if the system had been upfront about it. On top of that, I was told I would need to "stop taking the medication for three months" just to be eligible to donate, which is completely unreasonable. PrEP is a preventive medication that promotes health and safety; no one should be asked to stop taking it to donate plasma. I strongly urge BioLife to review its communication and registration policies and to add a clear notice about donor eligibility for those taking PrEP, before people create an account or schedule a donation. This was a waste of time, money, and energy -- and it could easily happen to others if nothing changes.

My last donation was…read morenot pleasant, not to mention I had to go twice a week in order to get a small amount of money. I came in and informed Sandra that I had been to the other place. I told her that before I started there, I wanted to finish the month out at the other place. I have to admit only having to go there every few months and getting one lump sum sounded great and my veins got to rest. I also felt the staff was not as skilled at taking the plasma. I was told okay and told to make an appointment for the end of the next month. I came back and was told to come back a month later, now mind you I had not been to the other place since the month before. So, it had been a month since I had given plasma. The lady, Sandra came over and said that I was not a good candidate as my veins were not strong enough. Firstly, Sandra lied, I told her I was going to finish the last month at the other center, than wait a month and come there. I did that. She lied and said she told me to wait two months. She did not. I also did not appreciate her trying to tell me that I was probably not allowed to go back to the other place, which is not true. Like I told Sandra, I didn't have a good experience there. The people were not good at putting the needle in. I thought that was part of the reason why the vein in my left arm was not good. But to have some person who does not know me, try to label me is not cool. This is money I use for bills and food and for my son, yes one son. Her attitude and probably stereotyping me is not cool. How about getting to know the person?
