Yes, Chris is a nice guy. But he lacks some of the basic necessities for running his own shop. If you know exactly what you need or already have the part, by all means he could be your guy. But for customers who don't know cars and are relying on a mechanic to help them (like me) then go to someone else. I need a catalytic converter replaced. He quoted me far below anyone else and so I called him first. Who doesn't need to save money? He asked me what part needed replacing but I told him I wasn't sure. He ordered a part and put it in but it was the wrong part. My fault was not knowing more about catalytic converters and I should have insisted he look at the car himself first. He should have done a test or diagnosed the car himself before replacing a completely unnecessary part. He told me he vividly remembers me telling him which part to replace so I'm out hundreds of dollars for a part that does nothing to help me pass smog. If I told a surgeon that my stomach hurt would they just cut me open without diagnosing the issue themselves? He will tell you he's not out here to get over on his customers. But actions speak louder than words. My quoted price changed 3 times. There's no invoicing to speak of so I don't even know what part was put on my car. And now I have to go to a shop to get the right part replaced anyway. I should have realized it was a huge red flag to be quoted a HUGE amount lower than any one else sending me quotes for the catalytic converter. Either he didn't know what part was going in to begin with or he was trying to deceive me. Either way, the trust is gone and I would not go back. Good luck. read more

Agreed on a date/time to drop off vehicle, provided me with an invoice detailing everything to be done on the car. Chris, man this dude is a mechanical angel! I initially thought I had an issue with my upper tube for my coolant. Chris gave me a flat rate and even went to buy the part himself out of pocket. After he got to my house(Yes! He is mobile!) he change the tube out due to the tub being damaged, he found out it was actually the thermostat that was giving me issues. After fixing that for me(for the same rate he quoted,) my car worked fine! I only needed to get the car to be able to work enough so I could trade it in Saturday, Chris hooked it up for me so I made sure to pay him extra because honestly good work is rare these days especially in LA.
