I agree with Scott. I went there based upon online reviews and had a certain level of expectation. I was met with nothing more than "stim" and massage. Now, if I wasn't post op and just needed a massage, I would come here. If you are looking for actual physical therapy this place is not it. I went to OPTM and it was like night and day. I also agree with Scott in regards to the billing. The billing person (Debbie?) completely screwed up my billing. She would send me bills claiming my insurance was billed and it wasn't. She also did not adjust my bill for the contracted rate and my insurance company actually had to contact her to explain that you can't do that. This is billing 101! I really don't understand how these people can call themselves a physical therapy office. More like a massage office. read more

Today was my first visit with Dr. Shiraishi, between him and his staff, it was such a pleasant experience! I recently broke my arm, and had the cast removed only 2 days ago; needless to say, I was eager to begin therapy. I found Dr. Shiraishi through my insurance network, and positive Yelp reviews, and made the decision to make the appointment. His staff was able to schedule me within 2 days of my initial phone call. The office is easy to find, across the street from Valley Fair, clean and cozy. Diane at the front desk was quick to help and kind with my initial paperwork, and saw me into a room immediately upon completion. Virtually NO wait time at all. My first round of therapy with Dr. Shiraishi was simple with only massaging the areas needing attention, muscle stimulation and ice; but the swelling I was experiencing had subsided, my range of motion slightly improved and I can now type much more comfortably than just before my appointment. If you are looking for a kind therapist who is interested in your full recovery, you will find it here. Dr. Shiraishi spent a good amount of time with me, answered all of my questions, and was very personable. He was easy to converse with, which is important to me being that I will be spending an hour or so with him 2-3x a week for the next 6 weeks. If you are looking for state of the art equipment and Class A facilities, you may want to move on to the next. DS may not have that - but I am much more interested in recovery and care than polish and shine. The facilities were clean and comfortable with functional equipment, which is everything i need for my own recovery! The staff is very nice and friendly, but... Diane is the only knowledgeable PT in the office and those patients that are treated by her are probably in good hands. However, I was mainly treated by other staff members, and the treatment was 5-10 min massage followed by 10-15 min of electrical stimulation and some half-heartedly observed exercises. All in all, there was no improvement. The office feels very crammed and does not leave a good impression. read more

Both my husband and I have been receiving therapy services from DS Therapy over the last few months and we have been so pleased with our treatments. For me specifically, Dr. Craig Shiraishi has given me back hope that I can run marathons again after breaking my ankle in January. Week after week of therapy sessions has conditioned me back to a pain-free and strengthened walk and even some jogging. I have a long way to go but the foundation has been paved and I know with the help of Craig, Diane and the rest of the DS staff I am confident I have a other 26.2 in my future. Everyone is so friendly and thoughtful and they all genuinely care about our recovery. It feels like we are part of a family when we get our treatments there. Awhile back I hurt my shoulder while snowboarding, being stubborn as I am I thought nothing of it until a year passed and I was still in pain. I was then referred to DS Physical Therapy by my Dr. to rehabilitate my shoulder. I remember walking in with no comprehension of how this recovery process will work as I have never been injured to this degree. My first session was with "Craig", he assessed my injury and gave me a general outline of what the next few months will look like. I asked several questions that were answered clearly and all in the interest of my recovery. As the weeks went by I came in for my sessions and was worked on by "Craig" or "Diane", both operated with a very high level of detail. I could not help but notice their quality of service was consistent as I watched them interact with other patients. 2 assistants: "Yen" made scheduling a breeze with my inconsistent schedule; Melissa helped me do my pre-work for my sessions, super pleasant and fun to talk to. Fast forward 6 months I am now back in the gym lifting weights as I did prior to my accident. Physical Therapy may not be the most exciting thing to do, but going to DS made the experience much more enjoyable. If your hurt, go get help, but why not enjoy the help you receive! read more

When you evaluate the quality of treatment the main point is either it helps or not. I had severe pain in my shoulders for a month, I could not sleep at nights even with pain killers. Additionally, I suffered from carpal tunnel syndrome in my right hand. I had pain on my upper back. Treatment that provided GRAIG helped me so much! In three weeks shoulders were fine. Now, I need some more procedures for carpal tunnel syndrome, even though I could work at computer after a month. His massage technique is unique because he knows anatomy and has extensive experience what muscles and ligaments are not in a good shape. He feels what is going on at exact moment. Deep tissue massage is the best way to ease the muscle pain and stiffness. Since I can compare my previous treatment of the onset of muscle problems; I am sure that GRAIG is a highly qualified person. Let me argue that it was not only massage as some other customers claim, I got manual therapy on my spine and hand, Ultra Sound and Electric impulses treatment, combined with hot and cold compresses, as well as exercises. First visit is expensive because of timely evaluation of your condition and I consider it fair. All staff is very friendly and express sincere kindness and understanding. This is the place to go if you really want to get better after an accident or injury. The therapists are awesome and will always listen to any complaints, questions, or even whines! They all really care that you get better in a proper way. The charges here are so low compared to other facilities that I almost feel guilty for receiving the great treatment! Whiplash. It sucks. It's been almost two years since my car accident, and I received regular treatment post accident. Recently, upon return from a long trip, I suddenly got stiff again. I was unable to move my neck, like the "muscle memory" of my accident came back. I went back to DS, Kaiser and regular massage. Young got me moving again. She is super strong. I have been seen by many people, no one compares. My situation is unique, I go to DS in addition to my PT at Kaiser. Kaiser PT isn't much. They meet with you for a couple minutes, tell you to do a couple exercises, then make you wait 2-4 weeks to be seen again. They are very hands off. With Young, I explain the exercises I do, she goes over what she would like to add or give me ideas on slight alterations to the exercises. Young is very hands on. When I go too long between visits, I feel the tightness return. I go to massages in addition to all this. Overall, I am always looking forward to the pain relief that Young brings me. Even if I am sore after, and need to ice, I can feel a greater range of movement after treatment with her, and my headaches subside. Until her, I was depressed that my neck, shoulders, back and headaches would be a lifelong problem. She has proven that it can be managed, and for some time - I had been fine. I hope to return to that state soon. I am a little scared to post this, because I don't want Young to book up more than she already does. But at the same time, if anyone else is as miserable as I was, I want to share that there is help out there, her name is Young. read more

But they have the gall to double charge for my 1st visit, and wouldn't take it off when I complained. So if you go, read your bill very carefully. read more

Well yesterday was my last visit for my neck pain that lasted for years, going to various pt's, chiropractors, and massage's. And guess what....Kenny took all the pain away in 6 weeks. Massage, stem, heat/ice, movement, that is what a great pt does. Like I said before, between Kenny and Craig, they do things a little different, but it all works. They got me walking 2 years ago after major surgery on my femur, and got me to be able to look side to side when I drive....and no more pain !!!! Thank you Kenny!!!!! I would recommend this place to everyone. The staff is great! The pt's are great! The parking is not great, but you can park on the side street. I would walk a mile (now that I can) to get to this place. This place has an atmosphere of family/professionalism. My family and friends know where to go when they get their surgery or need pt. for any reason. I just can't say how HAPPY I am with Kenny for taking care of my neck, and Craig and Kenny for taking care of my femur. I think this place is absolutely wonderful. It is small as stated below but makes for a homey atmosphere. Everyone there makes you feel like family. I went to DS Physical Therapy to get my wrist, hand, and arm moving again after having surgery on a broken wrist and being in a cast for about a month and a half. I started out with no strength, movement or torque whatsoever, so I was scared to death. But I went in 2-3 times a week for almost an hour each time, sometimes a bit more than an hour, as instructed. That included: warmups with various pieces of equipment and very light hand weights, those musical Chinese medicine balls or marbles that you roll around in your hands, Diane's or Sarah's massage and gradual pressure to break up the stiffness caused by scar tissue, and 15 minutes or so ice pack treatment and electronic pulsation after Diane (the owner) or Sarah (whenever Diane was unavailable) was done with me. Both physical therapists talk to you the entire time, asking you questions, telling you what they're doing, telling you what you should do yourself when you're not actually in their office, and they take measurements for range of motion (and strength - yes, they can calculate that too!) from time to time so that both you and they can see what your progress is. I'm telling you, I was a new person a couple of months later when my PT was over. Those two ladies have two completely different techniques, but together they got me moving again! And I got about 90% of my strength back! Of course I did what they told me to in between visits (the various stretches), so that helped too. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and personable, they're a great team. Great treatment and results. The only ding is for the parking situation. I tried this place cause it is close to my house and would accept my insurance. Already when I pulled into the parking lot I questioned myself how this tiny house could have enough space for a full service physical therapy rehabilitation. As soon as I walked through the door I could tell that from the minimalistic workout equipment they had cramped into the back of the what else served as the reception and waiting room. Once I was asked into the back I was seated in a small room that had two massage tables separated by curtains and get this the kitchen. So while I was going through my initial exam the person on the other side got to listen in to our entire conversation explaining my health condition. The initial exam was concluded with a message, which was not the greatest I ever had. The physical therapist was wearing latex gloves. That was the first for me. But while I tried to relax and try to let myself go I was horribly irritated by employees heating their food and the associated smell of it in the kitchen right next to me only separated by the curtain. Needless to say I never went back to this place. Now I am with More Physical Therapy , they have private therapy rooms without microwaves and all the workout equipment one could wish for a speedy recovery. read more

i am again disappointed in the service! i was billed twice for my visits and when i tried to resolve the issue, i could never talk to the billing dept.(debi) .i went there and still she was not there and i got not a bit of help.not only did i get bad treatment for my injury,i can't even speak to the person i need to .this is why i am so frustrated with this clinic! read more
