Details follow: 1) We agreed to remove the fallen portions of 3 trees for $8000. 2) They offered a cash discount, and gave us an invoice for $7000. 3) After the 2nd visit, they left half of the yard covered in trunks and debris and expressed disinterest in coming back for various reasons. 4) They offered another discount for delaying the job "until Fall," or they would keep the price the same and come back sooner to finish it. The new total was $6500, and we hold on to $1000 until the job is done, so we paid $5500 at their office. 4) Later they changed the deal, and said they were offering a discount to NOT finish the job at all ($6500), or else they were going to put off finishing our job "until the next season" (ie. 1-2 months out...). 6) They blamed my wife for being 'frustrated' as the reason these miscommunications occurred, not knowing that they were on speaker phone and I heard what they said and offered myself, and she was always friendly. They claim the delay in finishing the job is because they're "too busy with emergencies" (...until the next season...) 7) Then they demanded we pay the remaining $1000. We kept our word. They removed about 2 trees, and our yard is still covered in debris, entire tree trunks, and they left having done maybe 2/3 to 3/4 of the job if I'm being generous. Our yard is torn up badly with entire solid dirt patches, estimated ~200 square feet in addition to smaller patches throughout as a result of their tools, tractors, and methods, which we unfortunately signed away in our contract (we upheld our end...).

Don't commit to a tree service without comparing a quote from ATS!…read more We have 7 large oak trees in our yard that needed pruning. Did the usual --asked our neighbors, compared ratings on Yelp-- and ended up with three wildly different quotes. The Arborist with Arundel Tree came across as the most genuine, told us what needed to be done and what could wait. On top of that, their pricing seemed very competitive. Day of the job, the team arrived early with shiny new equipment, did a thorough pre-job confirmation and got to work. After the post-job walk-around, they mulched every branch and left the yard better than they found it. Highly recommended start to finish. My only gripe is the 3% markup on credit card payment... (At least let me earn those points!)

Ballard cleans up all debris and sweeps driveways clean after all the work is done. Ballard gives you a definitive estimate of the cost weeks before the job begins. I keep records of the costs and I have compared it to others. They are very reasonable for the type of work done. I had one "drive by" individual who asked if I needed to take a tree down that had been hit lightning. When I asked the salesperson what his price to remove was, I was given a cost that was 3 times more than what Ballard had given me. So, I think Ballard is in a good price range for what they do. Finally, safety is important. I don't think you want anyone falling from a tree on your property. It can ruin everyones day. Don't use day laborers, amateurs, or 2 person group unless the are removing shrubs only. Get Ballard and know that no one will get hurt. Allen B

I read the reviews on Springwood Gardens and saw they were mixed, but I decided to take a chance…read moreand see how things went. I have to say that working with Mr. Gibbs and Springwood Gardens turned out to be a good experience. He came for a look at the property, gave me an estimate and made some observations as to what more needed to be done, suggesting that a failing tree be removed, and offering to include it in the price he quoted me for the original job, which was to cut back the many ornamental grasses that line portions of my property and to prune a line of shrubs. A day or so later the trimming and pruning job was done. It took just a few hours and the cuttings were hauled off and everything cleaned up just as promised. Took a week and a half or so for the second part of the job to be taken care of, which was the tree removal. It wasn't a big priority, so the wait was not an inconvenience. That day both Mr. Gibbs and his team were present for the job, and I was impressed with how quickly and efficiently the work was done. In addition to those jobs, the owner offered three extra services that he included in the agreed-upon price that added additional value to my purchase. He had some left over mulch from another job that he offered me. It was enough to refresh one bed. And while the crew was there he asked my permission to have them do two other jobs--prune the shrubs in my front bed, and clean up the leaves in the front yard. I said yes, of course, and all the jobs were done to perfection. So, essentially, he killed two birds with one stone: he kept everybody on his team busy with useful jobs and made sure that he gave me added value. That's what a good businessman does, and I find it commendable. This initial experience has left me open do to doing more business with Springwood in the future. In terms of pricing, they aren't the lowest priced landscape business around, but neither are they the most expensive. I know because earlier in the season I got two quotes from two other businesses. One was outlandishly high, the other offered me a quote that required I buy a package deal that included jobs I didn't want done. Regardless of my appeals, the estimator would not budge off their bottom line, which was too high based on the work I wanted done. I was baffled at their level of inflexibility. I won't be calling them back. Mr. Gibbs, on the other hand, was flexible and helpful in working out what needed doing, and went above and beyond to make sure everything happened right.

I was so upset today that I had to pay another company to remove the weed! it was ridiculous! He did this last November! He removed the ground cover and gravel that I had laid back in 2022! It sickens me that he took advantage of me in this way. He took the wooden edging, a flower box and killed a hosta plant that I had for many years. He even took the pot that I had it in! I never asked him to do any of this. I only wanted an estimate of what I needed done. How dare him to start working and discarded all the work I had done years previously! I don't know how much a Creep Myrtle cost, but that is dead too. I should have sued him at the time. Don't know if I can still bring a lawsuit?
