My boyfriend and I went here three times during our one-month stay in Montmartre (actually we're still here and could hypothetically go again, but our days are numbered!). I am by no means a crepe expert, and haven't been to the more well-known creperies in Paris yet, but every crepe I've ordered here has been high quality and delicious, and to the best of my estimation, authentic. The savory crepes are all made with buckwheat (galettes, I believe), and the sweet ones are very delicate regular (wheat?) crepes. I've ordered a basic egg/cheese/ham/mushroom crepe, as well as the "provencale" (cheese, ham, and egg with a kind of tomato paste with herbs that tastes much better than I'm describing it--presumably a typical Provencale base). The salted butter/caramel crepe was fabulous for dessert. All of these crepes were super yummy, and I'm sure I'll miss having a creperie only a few minutes away when I'm back in California! Be sure to order cider as well! (Sorry about the typos on the French words, I'm lazy on my American keyboard!) I'm sure there are other equally good creperies and I can't advise on whether it's worth it to especially seek out Creperie Pen-Ty, but if you're in Montmartre, it's an excellent choice for a meal. The restaurant itself is cozy, the waitstaff are very friendly, and there is an English menu if you need one (though honestly if you know some French you're probably better off with the French one, I find that the English ones actually end up confusing me even more). One caveat: unless you've had it before or really know what you're doing, I seriously SERIOUSLY advise against choosing a crepe with Andouille or "chitterlings." Through a combination of forgetfulness, translation confusion, and probably a pinch of sheer stupidity, we ended up ordering one crepe with Andouille on our first visit. It's testament to how good the crepes are in general at Pen-Ty that we ended up coming back at all, because I have honestly never been more horrified by a food item. I don't blame the restaurant at all--we should've known better than to order it--but seriously an FYI, this is not a good place to be adventurous. (If you take this as a challenge and decide to try one, a) I refuse to take responsibility for your lost ~eight Euro; b) if you actually manage to eat it, send me a message and tell me how you managed to survive the smell, because I know people must eat it and like it, but I personally just can't even conceive of it). All in all, definitely give this place a try if you're in the area!

Great little place. I got there early and the food was wonderful. I had gone to Guerrisol and stopped by this little restaurant to refuel.

My favorite while in Paris!…read more After taking a walk from the tower, we (party of 3) ended up passing this restaurant. We stopped in to try a bite. Ill say the seating was tight even for such a small party. But well worth it. The food was beautifully fantastic. The crepes that were served (by choice) we hot and savory and if I could I might live off them. Will definitely be back when in Paris again.

ONE STAR DROP FOR POOR SERVICE. FOOD IS STILL SOLID 4 STARS!…read more Our initial experience was so memorable, we returned for a 2nd and final time before heading home to the U.S. We ordered the Paname, Bacon & Santiago galettes and only one of us ordered from specialty menu. The egg was perfectly cooked with the yolk perfectly runny. The ham reminded me of prosciutto, but not as salty and a bit thicker. Each galette was delicious and satisfying. We all shared the banana crepe (La Reunionnaise) for dessert. A satisfying ending to our meal. It was a bit busier on this visit and while we were seated promptly, it took a long time before we were able to order or receive any attention from our server--it appears that there was only 1 person handling all functions, other than cooking. The service was surprisingly different than our first experience. We saw a few guests leave due to lack of service however, we choose to stay because we wanted crepes for last dinner. The lack of service is the reason I had to drop a star despite our food tasting delicious.
