The wedding between Mitchell and Krystal was fantastic and everyone enjoyed their reception at the Crystal Palace , Mount Prospect, Illinois. This was the typical Assyrian reception with hummus, pita bread , samosas, followed by a salad. Red and White Wine was present at every table. The music was middle eastern as was the food. Meat kabobs and Chicken kabobs served with white rice. The food was very tasty , especially the Samosas. The Crystal Palace is adorned with Crystal Chandeliers throughout the banquet hall, hence it's name , Crystal Palace. There was an open bar , dancing , good food , music and a wonderful time was had by all as two families join together as one. The father - daughter dance was emotional. So too was the mother & son dance. Family and friends tossed money on the couple as they enjoyed their first dance as Man & Wife. The room was really nice as were the staff, but the food was just awful and I'm pretty sure I got food poisoning from it. The scoop of ice cream with chocolate sauce on top was *solid* rock hard and tasted like it had been sitting uncovered in the freezer for weeks . I took one small bite of the frosting of a brownie they were offering and the taste was even slightly worse than the ice cream. Overall I think food quality is a very important piece of the banquet experience, so I do not recommend. read more

I was introduced to Crystal Banquets because of a Baby Shower held there. First of all, it's tricky to find this place bec it's located behind a prominent strip mall (on the south west corner of Elmhurst & Golf). My suggestion is to head towards the Dominick's & you will notice the signs that lead you towards the back of the mall. There is ample parking. In reference to the decor; it is not contemporary & not gaudy --- which is a good thing. They have these gorgeous ceiling sections that have a celestial painting & it's accented with an elegant chandelier. Not sure when the new owners / managers took over but they offer a middle eastern menu. For the Baby Shower, we had Bismati rice, beef kabobs, ground chicken kabobs & biryani (rice with saffron, cubed potatoes, cut green beans, peas & great spices). And they were all so good. My only suggestion would be for the server to ask the patrons (guests) if they prefer their beef cooked differently than well done. See, I prefer my kabobs medium done. The server we had was so attentive & took care of our concerns "with a smile." When we first got the caraf of coffee, it was warm. So when we asked for hotter coffee, she was able to bring another caraf quickly. My mom, sister & I were impressed. read more

We came here for a larger banquet (probably 250 or so) very recently and after having the same lunch for years at another (now closed) spot, I have to say that Crystal Palace really impressed. The chair coverings were a nice touch and the tables were set-up so as not to be too close to each other. It helped that our table was not 100% full, because they were tables of 12. The food was good- you can only do so much with chicken breast, but I thought the bread was excellent, the salad was better than average and the soup was also yummy. The vegetables on the entree were fresh and not over-cooked. Servers were attentive and the bartender was fantastic! Good job Crystal Palace! read more

Recently attended an event here it was a cluster from the very beginning. Dinner was supposed to be served at 7:10pm didn't start getting served until 7:30m. The chicken comes out and it is cold and dry and smothered in congealed cheese sauce. Then it just got worse, 22 kids (ages 2-6) were supposed to have chicken nuggets and fries. They weren't served until 830pm because the establishment had a misunderstanding of when the kid's food was supposed to be served. There's 22 kids running around starving while the adults are eating dinner. Didn't someone stop to think when they saw all these kids running around with no food at their tables. Some parents were able to share their meals with the kids. Not all kids will eat dry chicken smothered in congealed cheese sauce with mushrooms. Most kids ages 2-6 definitely prefer chicken nuggets and fries. Then we find out that we were not served the correct meal. The bathrooms kept running out of toilet paper and paper towels. Don't do it, do not have your special occasion reception here. It was a complete disaster. The servers were very friendly and only doing what they were told to do. They even put up with the starving kids running around for an hour and a half while their chicken nuggets and fries were being made. We could have used DoorDash to get food faster. read more

I've been to several occasions here for weddings, bridal showers, baby showers, etc. A few things that I like if not love about this place - the lighting, it was ambient and really set the atmosphere; the food, couldn't believe how delicious the family style dishes were, the cleanliness, it just smells fresh in there. You can tell they are clean freaks (and I love it), there are a few things I would personally change, but that is because I may not know the business very well and what might accommodate a variety people/cultures like they do. So far, I've been to a Bulgarian New Years Eve party there, Polish wedding for my friend, a few middle eastern baby/bridal showers and Pakistani wedding. Was impressed. read more

I recently attended a wedding in June and was honestly amazed and very pleased. Everything from the beginning to the end of the night was great! The first thing that I noticed (and is so important since we women walk in sky high heels) was the valet service right in front of the entrance. These things matter! The lobby of the banquet is GORGEOUS! Beautiful and bright and ideal for taking pictures. The inside of the banquet followed the same theme. Beautiful light fixtures, higher ceilings, and also a very CLEAN banquet, which is very important. The appetizers were to die for. They had these mini sandwiches that were a lamb kabob with a yogurt dressing on top that was EXCELLENT! The spinach pies were phenomenal as well! Excellent appetizers! Dinner was served in a very timely manner as well, at this wedding. The filet was cooked perfectly and was HOT and the chicken tasted like REAL CHICKEN and not banquet chicken. This was THE BEST food I had ever had in a banquet! The bartenders were extremely friendly and made delicious drinks. Nothing was watered down, which is a frequent occurrence at other banquets. The drinks were made just right! Interestingly, I am getting married in a few months and have pretty much made my decision to have my wedding here! I even spoke to the owners after the wedding I attended and they were SO WARM AND FRIENDLY and knew exactly how to treat a potential customer! I had both my engagement party and wedding at Crystal Palace Banquets. I want to start off by saying that the banquet is absolutely stunning. It is open, clean, and bright. The chandeliers are beautiful and the insets in the ceilings are unique. I had 440 people attend my wedding and there was more than enough space to dance and socialize. The lobby is spacious and there are many different spots to hang out. They have comfortable sectionals and seating for those guests who want to sit and socialize in the lobby. The dinner my husband and I chose for our guests was delicious! My guests were very impressed with the food and the wait staff. The food came out in a timely manner and everything was cooked to perfection. You can tell that Crystal Palace really puts a lot of love and care into their food. I've been to many weddings in different banquets and the food here is wonderful. You can't even compare it to other banquets. The owners and manager are all very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. Anita (the manager) helped us through every step of the way. She knew tons of vendors and made calls to help accommodate our needs. I rarely write reviews unless it's amazing and this banquet hall is amazing! I've been to many weddings here and the food is phenomenal! This led me to catering from here and, again, the food was phenomenal! Everyone raved about the food at our party! We had hummus, rice, dolma (w/meat), chicken tikka and kefta kabobs (beef) and grilled veggies.. all of our guests loved it and most had seconds. I attended an event here for the first time a while ago. This place has been intensely advertised on Polish tv and radio, so I was looking forward to seeing it. The first strike is the location. You might as well just circle around Golf/Elmhurst Rd for hours before you find it. So I'll help you. Pick any entrance into the shopping center, drive all the way to the end toward Chase, turn right, and there you go. Right there, where it shouldn't be. The second strike is definitely the food. My god, everything was bad. Even the strawberries. The other people at my table had the same thoughts. Okay, I know that banquet hall food isn't the best in general, but even when I ruin dinner it tastes better than this. Third strike is the alcohol. My husband ordered two same exact drinks from the same exact bartender at the same exact time and they tasted completely different. I'm giving back one star for the ambiance and the decor. Bad experience with a recent reception. You pay thousands of dollars. You work with the hall to agree on the menu. The day of the reception you have 22 kids aren't fed for an hour and a half after adults are fed. You try to find someone to help you you can't. And no one that is working can help you. They are nice but can't help you. Then you look at the plated meal that your are served and it doesn't align with what you ordered. And you try to reach out to them for two days and no one responds back. After you send 15 text messages on the night of your event to the individual handling your occasion. You're not allowed to enjoy your event for several hours because you don't have kids that are fed and the food you have isn't what you ordered. Talk about a memorable event. Will never forget this place. Will never recommend this place. won't come to this place if someone mentions that they're having event at this place. Just never ever coming back.q read more

I was at Crystal Palace for a couple of events in the recent past and was impressed by the ambiance and the beauty of the place, which is fittingly named a Palace, but also by the way it is ran. Sam, who I believe is the owner, runs the place in the style of the stern captain of a cruise ship and has his staff attend to the customers needs quickly and on the spot. I attended a wedding at Crystal Palace in June 2012. This banquet in Mount Prospect seems to be under new ownership than the old Crystal Palace people might remember in Park Ridge. In my years of going to weddings, I probably had the best time at this wedding. During cocktail hour, there was a nice martini bar and delicious appetizers in the lobby of the hall. There was also a photo booth where people were taking pictures with props which I've never seen before at a wedding. Once the lobby started filling up, they opened the doors and we walked into a gorgeous hall. There was a lot of people at this wedding, but everybody fit comfortably. The bar in the banquet hall is excellent, with pretty much every liquor available you can think of. The bartenders were very nice and the staff is very helpful overall. After a few drinks, it was time for the dinner. This is what makes this hall better than any particular hall in the suburbs. Their food is EXCELLENT. We had Chicken Marsala and Filet Mignon as our dish. The Filet Mignon was probably the best steak I've had at any banquet, and I am not exaggerating. Overall, I really loved this banquet hall. I hope I am invited there to more weddings in the future. read more

Definitely recommend having your event at Crystal Palace. Anita is wonderful and very helpful when it comes to coordinating and planning. I had my wedding here in 2010 and I had falln in love with it. I felt like a princes the food was great, the staff are super kind and helpful nothing was missing or wrong at the wedding, everyone of my cousins got married here since our wedding because it was so beautiful and clean. We had 450 people and everyone was pleased and comfortable , to be honest about the location I'm not from Chicago and nothing is easy to find in Chicago when it comes to locations so that was not my problem .... I was here for my cousin's wedding on 8/12/12. The place looked nice on the inside but outside, not so much. There was no where outside that had a good background to take pictures, no garden, no nothing. The staff were okay. The food was brought out too quick, if that makes sense. It was as if they were in a rush to get us out of there. I'm a vegan so I can't really rate the food. My niece said the meat was dry. The fruit didn't appear that fresh. The bread was really good, I was so hungry so maybe that was the reason. The bartender was awesome!!! read more

They knew exactly how to deal with any last minute changes and additions to our guest count. I never had to worry we would not have enough food for everyone. First i want to say what a wonderful planner they have. Anita is her name and she was able to help me dress this place up and make it exactly how i wanted it (even though i had no clue what i wanted) . When we showed up that night i was floored! This place looked amazing! Better then i had pictured it in my mind! My friends, family and co-workers could not stop raving about how good the food was, and I was amazed to see how helpful they were to work with my budget... If I could do my wedding all over again I wouldn't change a thing!!!! I know there are so many places to choose from out there but I would highly recommend checking this place out!!!! read more

Literally the worst place to have a wedding or any event there because the guy that is the owner is a complete ***hole, he is so rude to the vendors such as the deocration peopel that you hire to set up your wedding, DJ. They may seem nice in the front, but truly they are ridiculously mean and they throw away all of your wedding cake in fact ive seen them take so much food into their own cars at night, when its only for the wedding guests.... not worth it. I got married in May of 2011. I want to start of by saying that this banquet hall is beautiful and personnel is awesome they helped was with everything and the food was absolutely the best. Everyone of my guest just kept telling was that everything was stunning for food the personnel just everything. Anita, which gave us all the information we needed to say YES to this banquet she was such a big help. One of my guest liked it so much she had arranged her own event there because they simply fell in love with the place. All I have to say is that its beautiful, spacious, personnel is great, the food is great, and the price for all that WOW cant beat that.
