I walked in a little past 1pm, having studied the chalkboard outside with a delightful-sounding selection of spring specials. As I'm ordering, the barista and I alike see another group walk in. And another. And another-- I'm not seeing anyone else in the rather small physical establishment, and as a former barista am beginning to sweat a bit for this Greenroom employee and all of the orders he is about to have to deal with, seemingly by himself (cue the cheerful chime announcing more customers, and more customers). As I wait for my order, grateful to be the first in this long line, I sit to casually read a book and take my opportunity to observe my fellow patrons of this fine little spot. I hear the barista asking customers if they're okay with waiting, and he begins to ask customers if they're okay with waiting a minute for their orders. I'm content, as I have no urgent arrangements, and the now plastic-gloved barista comes up to me, informing me that they have no lime to garnish the avocado toast I've ordered and asking if that was okay. I assert as much and he returns to the line; I think to myself that he could have saved the time and not told me and I wouldn't have known the difference, but I'm pleased with his attention to detail. I get my to-go box of avocado toast with an egg and am pleased to open it and try a bite. I feel that it could have done with red pepper flakes (my favorite), but the everything bagel seasoning added a nice texture and the overall flavor profile was delightfully savory. As for my drink, which came later, it was the Good Riddance: a vanilla cold brew with lime pie cold foam (which lived up to the name tremendously). It also had what I believe to be graham cracker or pie crust crumbles on the top that were delightful! The drink was delicious and perfect for the spring weather. I sit upstairs as I always do, but specifically on the patio where I can see all of MidCity and the surrounding businesses. There's nonintrusive and enjoyable music presumably coming from the Camp itself? After an hour or so of enjoying my spoils, I return to the counter below to see if the barista is still there now that the rush is over. He is now accompanied by another coworker, blessedly, and I learn that his name is Caleb. We chat for a few moments and I introduce myself before leaving, but not before taking another picture of all the event calendars for the week and month. Now I'm positively fueled for my afternoon and grateful for the relaxed atmosphere. (Thanks for reading this far if you did, and shoutout again to Caleb for doing his job tremendously! He informed me that he enjoys a good rush of customers, and I replied that I would have cried to have been in the situation that he handled with great poise and dedication. The great service alongside the excellent product left me wanting to return quickly!)

Once we made it in, we found a friendly staff, a small sitting area, and coffee options with house made syrup. I went with my standard iced vanilla latte and enjoyed it! I would love to come back and explore more of what The Camp has to offer.

Update time, this was for in-person and not Door Dash…read more So, the pangs for sweets hit and L'Etoile was closed. What's a girl to do?! Drive to Bridge Street and hit up La Macaron, of course. There's a lot packed into this small shop: chocolates, sweets, gelato, even macaron shaped pillows. We went with the basics. First, they have Lavazza coffee (score!). My caramel latte was delightful. Better half got one of their frozen coffee drinks and said it was delicious. Both drinks were sweet, but not to the point we were in a sugar coma. We also scored 6 macarons (don't judge) and a macaron cake. The macaron cake hit it out of the park--rose lychee for the win! The addition of fresh raspberries really balanced the sweetness, and this was an absolutely stellar dish. The assorted macarons were all delightful, though the basil/white chocolate was my favorite. The real winner was the service, kindly dishing out ample sweets to a crowd. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their job and was super helpful in helping us navigate all of the offerings. Packaging was sweet, simple, and a bit luxurious. Prices were a little high as others have mentioned, but I didn't find them off putting considering the products were lovely and not your usual sweet shop fare. Five star winner in my book.

Being from New Orleans, I know a thing or two about beignets. What they are calling beignets? More resembles a sugared donut (where's the powdered sugar?!?). There's a place in town that makes outstanding beignets (FYI). The flavors of the items were solid. However, I couldn't get past the texture of the undercooked macarons. Kind of disappointing. The one at Four Mile Post had perfect macarons. I was expecting the same quality at this one. The two young ladies working were quick and friendly. I didn't give a lower rating because of them and the flavors.

There are a lot of big name Coffee Shops that are running solely on Brand Recognition and people keep the seats warm in those establishments, but if you don't try this amazing Shoppe, you will be doing yourself a great disservice. I do have one cautionary advisory though........ everything on the menu should come with a Surgeon General's Warning Label that reads, " WARNING!!!! Consuming any one of these beverages will turn you into an Addict! You will crave these beverages at the most inconvenient time (like when this business is closed for the day, when you are away on a business trip or when you wake up in the middle of the night looking for a tasty treat). The Owners cannot be held responsible for your obsession, but they promise to provide immediate relief for your cravings. Disclaimer: Relief is provided during normal operating business hours only (unless you happen to personally know the Owners, to which you may be able to Sweet Talk them into making you a tasty beverage after hours by appointment only). Dang it! Now I want a Wilberry Smoothie and I think Gathering Grounds is closed right now (sad face and growling stomach).
