A delectable find in the city. Fairly close to the water, so perfect for hungry tourists like myself. Prices are reasonable and pastries are delicious. The first I visited around 9am on a Tuesday with 5 other people. My group tried all of the following: - a delectable raspberry, lychee, and rosewater danish for $3.50, which we liked so much we bought two more in the following days - the fennel and sausage philo dough pastry, which was also liked a lot and found to have a very generous portion of protein - the asparagus, brie, and prosciutto pastry which was also a great combinations of flavors, notable for not having an overwhelming amount of cheese - pain au chocolat which is flaky and filled with just the right amount of semi-dark chocolate. It's not too sweet, and goes perfect with a cup of joe. - toffee, apple, and vanilla danish which was the most plain offering they had. Nothing particularly special about it but it was good. - their amazing vanilla, orange, and caramelized doughnut, well worth their price of $4. Flavors change daily. I liked it so much I went back the next morning at 8:30am and was told doughnuts wouldn't be out till later. The same thing happened the next day around 8:45am. Finally I got the second to last doughnut (on my last day in Victoria) when I arrived at 3pm. This time the flavor was passionfruit and peach and was tasty, though not as good as the first one I tried. They also sell cronuts, little tarts, cookies, gluten free cookies, bread, and coffee. Crust has become a weekly pilgrimage for me. The best sourdough loaf ever. So on brand. The best croissants I can find anywhere... and that's just for starters...their counter overflows with tasty, crunchy treats. Whenever we travel to other major markets I search high and low for the best croissant. The last trip took me to Montreal and Hells Kitchen, NYC. Nothing touched the perfection of Crust's croissant! Delicious cookies and quiche! I recommend this place to others if you want some delicious baked goods. They did not have any outdoor tables, so we decided to go next door to sit outside and enjoy our coffee. Crust don't need my review... Holy pastry, Batman ! It is the bomb. The glory. The pinnacle. The flaky, crisp, nuanced, tart, creamy, fabulous, GOAT bakery. I remembered it from two previous pre-pandemic visits, and I will come back to Victoria again just to go here. It is out of this world. (I had the passionfruit slice, the blueberry dish, and a plain croissant. Excellent. Previously I have had sour cherry danish and the pear lychee rosewater danish and a lemon meringue tart. Every single one of them has been an 11 out of 10. As others have said, it's a take and go place, no room to eat there. Crust Bakery is such a cute little bakery that boasts an impressive array of fine danishes and coffee. The bakery has a wide variety of danishes, croissants, muffins, and sandwiches and some gluten free options as well. One shot of espresso came out to $1.26 USD and their raspberry, lychee, and rose water danish came out to $2.57 USD. We also tried the pear and almond tart which was the right amount of sweet and savory. Their seating is very limited with only 6 bar stools so it calls for a cramped space during peak times. On a chilly winter day in Victoria, I was craving some bakery treats. Luckily, Crust was only a short walk away! Before you even walk into the bakery, you'll be mesmerized by the dozens of baked goods in the store window. We stood outside for a good 5 minutes looking at all the options and trying to decide what we wanted to eat. Inside, there's additional items like cookies in large jars, and savory treats and sandwiches. We opted to try the fruit meringue tart, red velvet cookie sandwich, and gingersnap cookie. All were delicious, but I was particularly impressed with my tart! It had a passionfruit filling with large raspberries and toasted meringue on top. All for around $10! read more

Ok yum!!! We picked up lunch here while visiting the book store next door. Great location! I thought it was going to be sandwiches made to order but it's not. They just have a few different options of pre made sammys that you can get heated up on the press. They have LOTS of baked goods. Gluten free options are plenty too, if you require. We got the roast beef and the falafel wrap. The roast beef sandwich was the best!!! The bread it came in was crusty on the outside and soft inside. It was full of sliced beef and cheese. Our fave!!! We weren't super stoked on the falafel wrap - it was a bit bland when compared to the roast. We got a couple cookies as well - my 2 year old loved them. Just okay. We found this place on yelp and decided to venture over to it in the morning that our cruise ship was in Victoria. We got an egg and bacon tart which they heated up. I also got a danish. The egg and bacon quiche tart was less than mediocre. The crust was soggy and not crispy and it lacked flavor. The danish on the other hand was crisp and just the right amount of sweet. How have I never reviewed this place? Every time someone tells me they are going to Victoria this is the first item on the list of places to go. Everything there is heaven but I (and many others) will tell you that the Cronuts are an actual gift from god (whichever one it is that you believe in.) Flakey and soft with the right amount of custard and sweetness! Its the perfect treat for any day of the week. You have to hurry though because they sell out fast! The bakery is small and well located with a large glass window showcasing all the artfully and lovingly designed treats. Do yourself (or your office mates) a favour and dip into crust before work to lighten up everyone's day. You won't regret it! read more

Mostly, this is a place we stop for a coffee and snack to take down to the inner harbor to eat. There is a small bar with about 6 stools if you can't wait to eat.... Went here for the cronuts and was extra happy to see soooo many more delicious pastries on display! We knew the cronuts sell out fast so we tried to come early and reserved a few for a later pick up. The lady who helped us was very kind. When ww returned to grab the cronuts, we decided to have some coffee too. My latte was great and complemented the cronuts... which were so insanely good!!! They had Salted Caramel available today too and the caramel was gooey, sweet and oh so yummy. We enjoyed our treats very much that we ensured we had some extras to bring back home. Ordered their version of a Black Forest Birthday cake and the entire experience exceeded expectations, from the prompt and friendly reply to the inquiry I sent, to the easy pickup (on a Sunday!), to the cake itself. The cake was beautiful, with tidy icing topped by a mound of chocolate curls dusted with powdered cherry for a pop of red. The cake itself had moist chocolate cake filled with sweet whipped cream and loads of tart cherries, and the outside had a perfect layer of dark chocolate mousse. We all agreed it was the best Black Forest style cake we'd ever had, and one friend was insistent that the mousse icing was the best icing he's ever had, hands down. I'm gushing a bit because the folks at Crust deserve it. I grabbed three sweet and three savory pastries: blueberry danish, almond croissant, and muffin of the day(pineapple-mango-almond muffin), bacon-spinach quiche, pork sausage roll, and beef rosemary pot pie. The muffin has interesting combination of ingredients which turns out very balanced and kids like it. The danish and almond croissant are crispy and with right amount of sweetness. I am surprised that I can still taste the flavor of blueberries, not just sugar like most of the danishes. The almond croissant is even more impressive which I wish I could have it every morning! I had a chocolate pecan bourbon tart, I probably would have preferred it without the chocolate, and instead liked to have little heavier handed distribution of pecan. The passion fruit curd was very skimpy - the tart crust was not filled, more like a smear across the crust. The crust was tough & too sweet. The merengue was a small dallop. Very disappointing for the price. Service wasn't good. There were 2 gals working there but 1 was in the back when I arrived. The other gal was chatting excessively with a couple (he was a local & she was from Vegas - yes, we could all overhear the conversation) who ordered 1 item. She chatted on & on with them while another couple & myself (that's 3 people) waited & waited. When it was my turn she barely said thank you & didn't bother to provide a napkin & fork (I had to wait for a few more minutes to get those because she ignored me while serving others) nor even a bag to carry the box in. Everyone else left with their items in a bag. Hmmm, wonder if it is because I was the only non-blonde & tanner than the other patrons... Every time we visit Victoria from Port Angeles we immediately head to Crust upon getting off the ferry. I dream about their GF carrot cranberry muffin and have gotten to the point where I compare all other GF (and non) carrot cakes and cream cheese frostings to the one at Crust because it is that absolutely dangerously D*** delicious. I was put off only by the fact that my "nuttella croisant" had a tiny basting of nuttella and inside was a chocolate mouse which was delicious but not what I expected. Happy with it all the same.
