Their pastry is really good,it looks fancy ,and looks sweet and yummy,most of the north American pastry are pretty sweet ,and I am not a big fan of too sweet stuff,but all the cakes and tarts there just look so good,so I decide to just try some of them ,and now i regret I don't get more to share with my family because all the pastry i bought were so good ,not too sweet,it's just perfect,I especially love their fruit tart,you can taste the fresh egg,with a delightful fruity taste. The fruit tastes like it's just picked up off the trees. everything there I tried looked fancy but taste simple,not complicated. and you know simple is usually the best!!!! I also got to have their yummy sandwich,I was pretty surprised with how soft the bread is and it's not dry and doughy !!! I am never a big fan of sandwiches,but this one totally win my heart!!!! Excellent croissants, organic breads and sandwiches. I saw muffins, cinnamon buns and tarts as well but didn't try them. They have an actual wood fired oven here which lends a certain extra special something to the breads in particular. The croissants are good but not the best. Is still out then in my top 10 though, which is pretty good. I was a little disappointed in my London Fog, which I thought was made with more fog than tea, but this is a bakery and not a coffee shop so I don't fault them too much for that. All in all, a worth while visit. I will return. read more

I recently made two trips to Wild Fire for muffins and croissants. I'm usually a pretty cautious about buying croissants from a bakery in the pacific northwest but still I have to try as I've now found ONE that does it right among 25 bakeries or so. That one is Cafe Besalu in Seattle. Having found that it can be done I buy croissants on occasion just to see. Butter croissant: A little flakey on top and a bit chewy inside but mostly greasy. Not a horrible croissant but not worth going out of my way for either. Pain au chocolate: Again not made the French way where it's half bread, half pastry and falls apart as you eat it. More chew like bread with just a slight flakiness on top. Still not worth going out of your way for. I love muffins so I tried several from Wild Fire. There was a carrot, bran/blueberry and one with grain on it, was it millet? I thought it started with an S. In my experience whenever people stick grains you've never heard on something they're trying to get you to think it's healthy for you but let's face it - it's a muffin! It's not healthy for you, you're eating flour, sugar and fat in a tasty hand-held package. They're tasty, but let's not fool ourselves here. All three of the muffins I tried were trying too hard to be tasty and healthy but failing at both. All three were dry and had off flavors that are hard to identify. For the record I love bran, carrot and blueberry muffins. I have no problem with mixing these things either. I'd just rather have a muffin I enjoy even if that means I have to run around the block a few times. I don't see the point in eating a muffin that isn't quite as bad for you but tastes bad. I didn't have their breads but looking at their awesome oven and the rustic breads laying around I'd bet this is why you come here. Go for the bread, skip the patries. I feel bad that I didn't buy bread so I could give them a proper review. Maybe next time. read more

Certainly one of our favourite places in Victoria. They have a great choice of sandwiches and bred. Usually most of their popular products are sold out by the noon or earlier, so if anyone want to catch the selection - be here before 10AM. Our family used to go there to buy coffee, sandwiches and cream of broccoli soup before we went to the beach on the Saturday morning. Highly recommended. read more

So cute! Went here to try some delicious vegan baked goods and it did not disappoint! Cute little space with friendly staff, and a good variety of options. I had some of the vegan loaf, a vegan chocolate chip cookie, and a vegan blueberry ginger muffin. All were amazing! I have heard their vegan pizza is very good and saw some people enjoying it immensely so I will have to return to try it. All in all if you are looking for a great little bakery for breakfast or lunch I would highly recommend this place! read more

Best bakery in town. Great, chewy bread. Wood fire oven, natural yeast, great desserts. Rumour has it that they are going to change their baguettes to make them softer, lighter and less crunchy on the crust. I'm sure they know what they're doing but I've seen so many people pander to the toothless masses it kind of worries me. How about leaving the bread as it is and sending people who want softer baguettes to Safeway or Thriftys? Just saying. Even if they mess up their baguettes (which I'm sure they won't, fingers crossed) the rest of their breads are fantastic. read more

Everything at this bakery is very good. We got the spelt loaf, vegan pumpkin and anise cookie, vegan ginger spice cookie, Ethiopian almond cashew parmesan soup and coffee. The pumpkin and anise cookie is by far the best cookie we have had in a while. But IT IS quite oily. We got some to go and left it in a brown paper bag and the next morning we can see all the oil that was in the cookie thru the paper bag. Strange thing it doesn't taste oily while we were eating it. I gave this place a 3 star because the young lady who helped me was kinda spacey. She also wouldn't slice the rye bread for me telling me it's too dense so we got the spelt instead. But then another customer walked in after we sat down and was helped by another lady and she didn't complain and sliced the load for him. read more

I just went back last week to have their almond croissant and I gotta knock down one star. Although the filling was that yummy crushed almond stuff, they were being super cheap on the filling. Seriously couldn't tell it was an almond croissant while eating most of it because there was hardly any swipe of filling inside it. I could've just ordered a butter croissant. May try it one more time in case that was an exception. read more

I had a very bad experiences in Wildfire for the third time, unfortunately I joined different friends each time and we all got disappointed, personally I did time and time again. Don't think I'll ever be going there again. read more

Their breads? Fantastic, rustic, complex. I had an olive loaf which was a dream come true. Their pastry? Tastes exactly like their bread. So if you like your pastry to taste like a loaf of wholewheat then by all means order one. Personally I like my pain au chocolat to melt in my mouth in a buttery wave of ecstasy but then that's just me. Stick to your breads Wild Fire. read more

Tasteless goods at a steep price. I have tried several breads and cookies/pastries and have been entirely underwhelmed. In addition, the establishment harbours poor service and unprofessional ownership. I have been here at least 4 times in repeated attempts at a positive experience to no avail. Do yourself a favour and take your well-earned money to another bakery. read more

I loved this little bakery. Fresh ingredients and reasonably priced for organic. I had the ginger blueberry muffin on one visit - quite delicious. I loved that it wasn't overly sweetened, nor had an overload of butter or oil like so many muffins. Another visit I had the quinoa salad. Hi We just returned home to Terrace after a road trip in our Volkswagen to Vancouver Island and Saltspring Island. I drive my husband crazy when we go away because I always want to check out bakeries. I am allergic to dairy so do not find many goodies that I can eat. We had been to the Saltspring Farmers' Market and I was pleasantly surprised to find dairy-free and gluten-free goodies. I spent about $20.00. I thought I was in heaven!! But, heaven was about to come! We were going to leave Saltspring Island by going to Tsawwassen. I was not paying attention when my husband said that we had to be at Fulford Bay at a certain time. Back there somewhere in the brain the light went on but too dimly. Anyway, we discovered that we had gone to the wrong terminal and had to go to Schwarz Bay first and then to Tsawwassen. BUT, and here is where my story has been heading, I noticed a quirky-looking cafe and bakery called Morningside Cafe. I told my husband that I was going in to see if there was anything I could eat (ever the optimist!). I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT!! They were selling the kind of food I like, vegan and healthy. But, the best thing of all - they sold dairy-free muffins and cookies and chocolates!! I had just told my husband that morning that I would love to be able to eat a muffin. WHAT A FIND!! AND the baked goods were DELICIOUS!!! So, going to Fulford Bay was a wonderful mistake! I was told that the baked goods came from Wild Fire Bakery in Victoria.
