My oh my! Crust is soooo scrumptious! I had no idea they existed but we were at Azealia getting lattes around the corner and I happened to ask a gal there if she would recommend some nearby spots to pick up pastries. Crust was one of the places she named. I am so thankful for the recommendation. We drove right over and everything was fresh and delish! Our items were still warm even. We ordered 5 different things (several kolaches, a Nutella croissant and pecan tart), all of them equally incredible in their own ways. Service was great. Highly, highly recommend if you're looking for fresh made yummies. Be sure to check their hours as I noticed they wouldn't be open the next day when I'd hoped to return for round two :) read more

I first encountered Crust at the Columbia Wine & Food Fest this past spring. The danish I got from them there was amazing. When I discovered their location was near one of my regular running routes, I knew this was kismet, and other than when they were doing some construction, I've been a supporter since. My go to is their scones. They're so light, and so tasty. Their kolaches, the first I've seen in SC since moving from Brooklyn, are good too. I like that they switch off the flavors of all these, depending on the day you visit. I did try one their specialty breads - the cranberry walnut sourdough - and that was fantastic too (try it with some fig jam and tea -- so good). If I wasnt trying to cut down on some carbs I would try more of them more often, LOL My one negative is their coffee. It's not that good, at least when I've had it. They also didn't have any non-diary milks on hand, which is strange since Rosewood Market is walking distance from there (Publix too). But that won't stop me from going back, and it shouldn't deter you either. read more

I have been wanting to try Crust's Bagel Bombs for a while. Luckily, a friend of mine was able to grab one for me and porch drop it. It was the cheese filled one. I expected it to be much smaller, so that was the first great surprise. The second great surprise was the perfectly chewy exterior of the bagel, just the way it is supposed to be. The interior was a good softness and moist. But, WOW, the cheese filling!!! Not overpowering so I could still enjoy the flavor of the bagel but enough flavor and texture. I'll send someone to get me another one next Tuesday! I gave 4 stars because I could not find a phone number on any of Crust's social media sites. I wanted to call in to order and pay over the phone so my friend just had to pick up. But I can't find a number! read more

Delectable -- if any place is deserving of that word, it is this petite bakery! I have to remind myself to take pictures of the goods before I devour them Cookie Monster-style, so my fellow Yelpers can see what they should have had for breakfast this morning. I make a point to try something new each time I visit. I've been here quite a few times now and I have NEVER been disappointed. Everything is so flavorful and has the perfect consistency... texture? Whatever it is, it's perfect. In addition to my one new item, I always try to get the chocolate cork whenever they have them! Yummm! Definitely my favorite thing... so far. I haven't tried their coffee yet (been on a tea kick lately), but I've heard only positive things. But even if the coffee was garbage, l would still give this place 5 stars for the baked goods alone! Y'all... Sausage and pepper jack scone? You had me at hello. This was my first trip there. I should have taken a little bite of the scone before I left because I seriously would have bought all the ones they had left. (Sorry, Cola Town peeps!) The store is tiny and smells like heaven. Check out the chalkboard for the breads of the day and I'd suggest getting there early. They apparently sell out of items because it's all that yum. If anything is left over then they mark it down the next day. I scored a day old loaf of ciabatta for only $2 and it was still super delish. They have sweet items as well and even some little doggie biscuits! How cute is that? This was my first visit to Crust. Yelp says they're open till 530, the sign on the door says 330, the owner says that they often stay later than 330 when they're prepping for the next day. Long story short, lucky me! I got a wonderful scone. One of the best selling items, and I'm excited to go back and purchase some bread later this week. You can't spell Crust Bakehouse without 'bae'. Seriously, a gem in Columbia. My son and I used to have crust at least once a week when we lived on Rosewood, and even now that we're in the Vista, I have it at least weekly at staff meetings. There is an amazing variety of super fresh baked goods daily, fresh coffee, and even day-old loaves for a steal. The only complaint that I would have is that they often have breaks of which I'm unaware, and then I get to the door, drooling and mouth-breathing, and am left in the dust Still not worth losing a star. I adore this place. Having it steps from my home is one of the true perks of life. Their focaccia is incredible. The gibassier are a favorite that you won't find pretty much anywhere else around these parts. They really know their away around dark chocolate and the chocolate and cherry scones are the best I've ever had. They brew excellent, strong coffee. They work in a bakery in a climate that's a bajillion degrees, WITHOUT the oven heat factored in, four or five months of the year. Is there a sixth star?! I have lived in Rosewood for a while, but my wife and I just got around to buying some pastries from Crust a few months ago and we've been back MANY times. Yes, the hours can be irregular and they can sell out, but that's part of the charm of a small family operation. Where to start....best scone I have ever eaten in my life. EVERY time. It's so rare to find a scone that is not crumbly or floury, but these guys hit it right every time--moist but not too wet, flavorful.....and the combinations are always creative and delicious. The same is true of their biscuits and sweet treats--Cinnamon Puff, Cherry and Cheese Biscuit, and the Pecan Financier are specially good. Also, their breads are equally tasty and creative. I feel like I'm incoherent here because the place is SO GOOD. No offense to Rise and Silver Spoon, but if I had to have one more baked treat in Columbia before leaving, I'd come here every time. read more
