Service
Upon walking in to Crumbl, I was greeted. The thing that gets me, and this is with more places than just Crumbl, the salutation was obligatory and did not have anything to back the greeting. I was not greeted with eye contact or any other for of acknowledgement other than a group of employees looking down and making sure they fulfill their assignment to great every customer.
Upon reaching the front of the line, little to no guidance was offered. I didn't know that I could order one cookie, four cookies, or what. On the cookie display, there were smaller cookies, however, you can't purchase those as those are for catering only. Upon asking for recommendations, the employee taking my order did not offer much assistance, if any at all.
Upon receiving your order, a rushed employee performs a presentation check with your cookies. The box is opened up and the employee awkwardly stares at you until he realizes he should ask you if it looks okay. It was almost a poor recreation of Dairy Queen's Blizzard upside down quality check, except you don't have to worry about your cookies being tossed upside down and put on the ground. I am not sure what the cookie presentation test is checking for. My overpriced cookies are methodically created and placed on a pan and baked that it takes the fun out of home baked goods.
Atmosphere
Even if Social Distancing was not a thing currently, there is no in store dining. The cookies are baked fresh and they are constantly making them. I assume that the reason the store is cold is because of the constant running ovens.
After standing in line and reaching the counter to place your order, you get a feeling that you need to rush. There is only one person taking orders and everyone else is running around at the ovens, fulfilling online orders, or checking the cookie presentation with customers.
Food
The cookie... is it overrated? Overpriced? Honestly, yes and no. Crumbl knows how to make a cookie. It is pretty tasty. However, their cookies go down in taste and presentation when they try and create more flavors. Their basic simple cookies, chocolate chips, churro, sugar, and others, are the best tasting. When I tried anything other than the basic ones, the cookie tasted too sweet and too bold (overpowered with any one flavor).
Tip: check your cookies. I have had some doughy ones, and I mean that it was simply not baked completely.
COVID-19
They practice social distancing. However, the last time I was in there, the employees did not wear masks. read more
