Beautiful restaurant continently located on Schweitzer mountain. We visited crows bench twice while we were out there and found yummy food options. The menu selection was limited and prices were a bit high, but we ended up ordering burgers and wings one day and then wings and chili the second visit. The teriyaki wings were so delicious!!! The burger was also pretty good. The chili was not bad, a little spicy, but later on in the evening I ended up feeling nauseous and threw up chili. It was terrible. We did have to wait a little bit to get seated the first time, ended up sitting at the bar the second time. Drinks were tasty! I would still come back to crows bench while out on the mountain, but stay away from the chili. read more

Crow's Bench is a new restaurant inside the Humbird hotel at the Schweitzer Resort! Initially the architecture is what caught my eye. It's beautiful inside and out! The menu here is very simple, with a few options for each course. Expect to pay $30-40 for an entree, and almost $20 for an appetizer. The food is not cheap. Because of that, I had really high expectations. I personally enjoyed everything I ordered, but the others on my table weren't impressed. When deciding between the Veal Chop, Wiener Schnitzel, and Game Hens, definitely go with the Wiener Schnitzel! The lemon cream cheese and lingonberries add another layer of complex flavors that worked really well together! It was easily the favorite dish on our table. We got the meatballs for an appetizer and those were good too. The Apple Strudel for dessert was yummy, but needed ice cream or something to balance it out. My main reasons for rating this place 3 stars instead of 4 is because it took at least 45 minutes to get our food. We were the only people eating dinner there at the time, so it wasn't even like they were slammed with business! It just took forever. It's also super pricey, and I don't think it was worth it. While my Wiener Schnitzel was really good, the other dishes on the table weren't anything special. If I'm going to spend that kind of money on dinner, it better blow us all away. I would come here for the architecture and atmosphere, but prepare yourself for waiting a long time and spending a lot of money for food that may not feel worth it. read more

We wanted to try out this newly opened restaurant with our family. Since we are staying in the Humbird Hotel, it was an easy choice. The place looks great. As you walk in there is a tall fireplace with lounge seating, perfect for a cocktail. Apres ski! Our table was a beautiful piece of wood, perfect Alpine themed decor. The whole Humbird hotel is very cool, and the Crow's Nest felt inline with the look and vibe. The service was ok. It wasn't packed at the time we showed up, but there were a good amount of people. The hostess asked if we had a reservation, no. I could see empty tables so I had a good feeling that wasn't a requirement. Perhaps if we wanted to go back we'd give them a heads up with a reservation. Then she said "you do know there is no kids menu, right?" Well, we didn't but we felt flexible so we said it would be ok. It took a while for a server to take our drink order, and then it felt like each next step was longer. At the end of the evening waiting for our check felt like ages. (I know that's a delicate thing for timing though, if you bring the check too quickly the guest will feel rushed.) The menu is pretty impressive. I was excited to try the signature cocktails. The food was very fitting for the mountain setting. I had a version of a hot toddy with Elijah Craig and thought it was very good. Brot (with incredible butter), and fondue started us off. French onion soup was pretty good. Then our entrees were a bit lackluster. I got the Das steak, it was a very salty dish (still tasty, just heads up) but the part that was impossible to overlook was the cut of the meat. There was more gristle and fat than I expected. I don't normally order the NY Strip, so maybe this is normal? My husband ordered the Beef Bourguignon and the flavor was wonderful. Unfortunately the meat also had a fair amount of fat hiding in there, so neither piece of meat was anywhere close to finished. We didn't stay for dessert but the offerings sounded delicious! Overall, cool spot with good drinks. I bet it's more enjoyable without kids. It felt pretty clear that they really don't want families to dine there. I wanted to bring my girlfriends up here for dinner tonight because of the ambience of the restaurant with its modern Scandinavian feel. We almost didn't come because of the previous Yelp reviews, however since there were only 2 of them, we decided to give it a try. I'm so glad we did because my girlfriends and I had the BEST service at dinner tonight. From the moment we stepped into the restaurant to the moment we left, we were well taken care of. Selena and the rest of the staff were so attentive. The food was delicious. We ordered the steak and truffle fries, beet risotto, mushroom soup, and the Idaho Valley salad. The portion sizes were perfect and the food arrived promptly. Thank you again Selena and staff for such a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back! read more

Had heard mixed reviews from last ski season, but decided to give Crow's Bench a try to start this season. Burger was pretty average, and $16 feels like a decent deal on the mountain in a very upscale building / hotel. Service was where it really fell short. We were one of two occupied tables in the whole restaurant and it took quite a while for someone to come over to us, and we never got checked on once during the meal (water glasses were empty less than halfway through dinner. The bartender was the one who eventually got us more water, I don't think our server ever even noticed. Also, it feels ridiculous to have a crumpled paper menu at a restaurant with no entree cheaper than $20. read more

Great service. Good food, but the entre was a total let down. The beef bourguignon was dry and there was a lot of fat hidden under the top overcooked chunks. I was among the first seated for dinner and yet I appear to have got the worst of the slow cooked meat. Maybe it was because I am young and by myself and not dressed nicely(just got done snowshoeing). Anyways, I should've sent it back. Expected more given the menu and the way everything else was prepared. Tasted like 20 dollar meat given how it was prepared, costed double at 40. The baby carrot appeared to be sous vide and then grilled. It was amazing! And the plating was very nice too. I expected better quality control on the most important part of the entre. Not worth the price. This was the only place open during the summer, so my friend and I went and decided to check it out. The staff was nice and helped give recommendations of options on the menu, but the food was really lackluster, especially considering how most entree options are well over $20 for a single dish. The salad was so bitter without much dressing to go around, I couldn't finish it at the end. I did enjoy the sauce and mushrooms in the pasta, but the quantity was disappointing. Took the beautiful drive up the mountain and found the Crow's Bench restaurant and bar located in the Humbird hotel. Friendly greeting from bar staff and we were seated promptly near the fireplace. Server was friendly and eager to please. Cocktails were very good. Menu was odd has octopus, tacos, a banh mi sandwich and a Thai salad, none of which really seemed to complement each other. Ordered the Wagyu hamburger and the pork tacos with the pot de cream for dessert. The menu said the tacos came with a pineapple salsa but arrived without and they really needed that acid. The menu stated the chocolate pot de cream came with huckleberry jam but again did not. The server was very gracious and offered to bring us some huckleberries. Overall okay but they need to work on the menu so that it is accurate and more cohesive. Hopefully they will work out the kinks but service was great! read more

Food quality is sub par at best and over priced even for a ski area. The lodge is nice but why would you design an open concept dinning area with a bar and charge top dollar for food? It's noisy and not intimate for the price you pay. Gormandie and sky house have the best food on the mountain. read more

This is a sad review for me to write as I really wanted to love this place. The location and ambience were amazing. I came out for a bachelorette dinner in a group of 6. First off, the lunch specials were listed on a whiteboard by the bar/host table. They weren't labeled "lunch" or anything, so some of the ladies assumed these were the specials for the night. It was disappointing to find out you can't have what is advertised. Drinks were fine. Ordered some appetizers.. the portions did not impress. The fondue had about 4 pieces of each different dipping side. Like 4 tiny bread pieces and 4 half slices of Brussel sprouts, etc. The cheese was also beer cheese so it was ehhhh overall. We place our order for dinner. Of course we are having a great time until we start noticing that it's been 30 minutes and then 45 minutes since we ordered. Whatever if the food is amazing right? Finally food comes almost an hour after we ordered. I ordered a chicken Cesar salad. It came not cut at all. I kid you not it was an entire stalk of lettuce. It was so big it was over flowing the plate. Thankfully they brought a steak knife so I can actually eat my own salad after I do all the work of having to cut it. 1/3 into my salad, I notice a dead bug on the stalk. Okay I know that lettuce grows in the ground and there are bugs. That doesn't mean I want bugs in my $30 salad. I can't eat anymore after that. Right after this, my companion across from me takes a bite of her chicken sandwich and as she pulls the sandwich from her mouth, there is a hair connecting the bite IN HER MOUTH to the rest of the sandwich. Disgusting. I really wanted to say something at the time but my friend group said they didn't want to make a scene and make a big deal out of it. I think that was a disservice. We are ready to leave. My friend orders a slice of huckleberry cheesecake to go. Yum... right? We get back to our rental and she says you want some? And I almost say no but how do I say no to huckleberry cheesecake. I make a joke "as long as there are no bugs or hair!!" I take one bite. Every thing is fine. I go to take another bite and as I am pulling my fork away from the rest of the slice, there is a hair. Baked into the cheesecake. I vomited. There are some kind of quality control issues here. I can't imagine what is not seen in their food if this is how much just I found in one single dinner. Looked forward to a nice meal. The restaurant is designed to look fancy and upscale but the food and service was terrible. Found it odd they only had 6 entrees to offer. Not more than 30 people in the restaurant yet it took over an hour for entrees to come. 30 minutes for a glass of wine and somehow managed to undercook french fries. Ordered braised beef which was unseasoned beef with some spicy sauce and some bland ancho chili. Some salt and pepper would have gone a long way as well with some green onion or sesame seeds. Also all meals I noticed came in quite small for the price, which added to the disappoint. Looked like our server was quite inexperienced which is a shock as they make this restaurant look quite professional. What do you get when you pump millions into a restaurant (it's BEAUTIFUL!) understaff it with employees who couldn't care less, and put a less than average cook in as the "Chef"???? You get Crow's Bench at Schweitzer! Three of us spent $400 and the only decent thing was the wine. It is rare that I have such high hopes, and then experience such deep, dark low disappointment that I have suffered through with Crow's Bench. Right out of the gate, the setting, and the architecture is very impressive but from the appetizers to the extraordinarily overpriced entrées, this place is strewn with colossal mistake after colossal mistake. I am impressed with how they can take an otherwise decent cuts of meat and drain every bit of flavor out of it before it gets to the plate. The menu reminds me of a cookbook menu where that chef has no talent, and so they go through their favorite cookbooks or magazines and clips, or recipes to serve without any knowledge of the skill, techniques and prep it takes to actually achieve a good dish. My boyfriend stood around, waiting for a beer for 15 minutes, and was not acknowledged. He asked multiple people for service, and they told him that only one person could pour and that person was really bad at her job. I came into the bar and tried myself after he gave up and right way a younger girl asked me if I would like a water, which I appreciated. Then I sat there while an older lady just kept walking by (I think a server) just ignored I existed. Then I asked a lady if there was a bartender and she responded rudely yes she's over there and she was making cocktails. The lady making cocktails responded she would be with me soon. Then an older guy asked me finally for a drink menu and I replied I was there for a beer on tap and asked if they had a hazy. Him and the person referred to as bartender had no idea if they had a hazy out of the 5 beers on tap. I decide I would get one of each of the ipa's just to get out of there. I will not be coming back and I will not recommend this place to friends. I will tell people to not go here because of how bad of service we had. read more

I've been in a handful of times, but this was the first meal Ive had. We had 10 people, and 4 of the 10 meals were severely undercooked. 2 of these were duck breast, which were literally cold to the touch and very raw. Im very familiar with medium rare duck, but instead of apologizing for the mistake, the chef treated us like we were just ignorant. My wife and I ate at the Crow's Bench twice this summer and both times we had a burger. The first time it was mediocre to say the least but the second time it was INEATABBLE. The hamburger patty was dried out and way overcooked and the bun was hard as a rock with nothing else on it and for $18 it was the worst burger I've EVER HAD. read more
