I had high hopes for this salon because I figured, who would know how to wax hairy Indian legs…read morebetter than fellow Indians? I came into their tiny waxing room and the first thing I saw was black dots of mold on the walls, a dirty and torn towel covering their waxing bench, on which they told me to lay down, and little bits of hair all over the floor. There are small children in the studio that run up and down and peek their heads in the waxing room while you are half-naked. The aesthetician talked on her cell phone with one hand and peeled off the wax on my legs with the other. In summary, this is probably the worst waxing experience I have ever had. However, the one pro is that the prices are cheaper than dirt: I paid $30 to get my full legs waxed. They have really cheap advertised prices- for example, $40 for full arms, full legs, and underarms from Tuesday-Friday. They did a good job with the waxing, but as I said before, it is pretty painful when the aesthetician waxes with one hand and therefore doesn't hold your skin taut as she slowly peels off the waxing cloth. I was considering getting my full arms done there too, but I was just glad to get out without a skin infection.

***Review from a lash extension First Timer!*** See Pictures ***…read more Wow! I absolutely LOVE the way I look with my new set of lashes. I've gotten so many compliments and I can leave my house with no makeup (maybe just a little under-eye concealer) and look put together. Definitely a confidence booster! I got mine done 4 days ago on a Wednesday and this is how it went: Thursday at work: Female co-worker #1: "wow, look at your eyes- did you do something different? Me: "mmm, no. I just used mascara. What? Does it not look natural? Is it too much?" (i normally don't wear a lot of makeup) Female co-worker #1: "no, no, no, It looks very nice, i love it -- it gives you a pop! You hardly ever wear makeup and i love this" Me: "Eye lash extensions ;)" Female co-worker #1: "Omg, i gotta try that, blah, blah, blah" Female co-worker #2: we are talking by the coffee machine for like 5 minutes and all of sudden: "OMG you got lash extensions didn't you!!" me: "huh?" Female co-worker #2: "Yeah I know because my sister gets them done and she's been trying to get me to do them. I love them! you look awesome - maybe i'll try it one of these days" Male co-worker: comes over to chat and all of sudden "What did you do different? Did you do your hair? it looks nice" Me: "LOL" Friday: I asked my boyfriend, do you notice anything different? and he says no. Saturday: I was wearing no makeup and cuddling with my boyfriend and he was like "you are so pretty" --- I batted my lashes at him but he still didn't notice lol. The funny thing is that we were watching Coco and Ice and then the Khloe and Lamar - and for the first time I noticed that all these females on tv, the kardashians and all of them wear lash extensions. there's no way they are natural. Today - Sunday: mom looks at me and says wow you lashes are nice and long. Me: "Yeah mom, I've been using these oils and they grew lol" Mom: looks at me stunned like she wants the secret Me: lol "ok mom lash extensions, you want to try them?" lol o that reminds me, let me write a review. Tanya was my tech and she was very communicative, walking me through the entire process. She told me it can take up to an hour or sometimes longer and that i can take a little nap or ask any questions to help time pass by quickly. The procedure is not painful at all and although it took about an hour, time pass by very quickly as we were chatting most of the time - I had a lot of questions. She told me how to take care of my lashes and gave me a tips sheet to take home. In our chat learned that she started her business on Facebook as a home business and it was so successful that she opened up this lovely lash studio in Union Square. That to me is always a good sign. I highly recommend this business whether this is your first time and you haven't quite dared to let a chinese or Korean salon do it or whether you've done them before and are looking to try a different place.

Shanika is extremely welcoming, has a nice studio and a bomb playlist! During my first visit she gave me a thorough assessment, ased about my skin history, skin goals, and current skin routine. Yay for electrolysis near my place! I've been seeing Elyse…read moreand Cecelia since 2005 for various hair removal treatments. I'm not sure why the 1 star person got such bad burns, but yes, you should get a lower current or frequency if you're just starting out and let them know about any skin problems. Both ladies are so professional and I have seen results with each treatment done. I was referred to by two friends and I'm happy I was. Hair that was once unruly and a pain to look at is finally gone! They have an ice machine and will numb the areas that need to be zapped, which is always quite helpful when you're in pain, like I usually am. Like their website says : - arrive early, if you're going to be late, call them! They have things to do and could probably book a last minute client if possible. - bring cash or a check ( yes, they take checks!!!) I've always been pleased with their service and would highly recommend.

I saw Elyse a number of times. I have mixed feelings…read more On the one hand, she is fast and efficient, and was able to cover more ground in less time than anyone else I've been to. On the other hand, what I at first perceived to be chatty friendliness soon began to feel extremely uncomfortable and invasive. She asks an inordinate amount of questions, nosy ones, and doesn't back off even when it's clear the client doesn't want to answer. She also makes sweeping generalizations about entire groups of people and when you're lying flat on your back, at the mercy of her zapping needle, it's not really the time to get into a heated discussion. She also once surprised me with a significant price increase that there had been no warning about. For me, the tipping point was when she kept insisting I must have a disorder or condition because I'm overweight and have facial hair and inquiring time after time if I'd seen someone about it. I assume she was referring to PCOS, which many thin people have as well, but it really doesn't matter. She is not a medical professional and I did not come here for a diagnosis. I came for electrolysis. Had she said, "I don't think your hair growth is responding to electrolysis and I don't want you to waste your money if it's not helping. You might want to see an endocrinologist to see if there's an underlying cause before you continue," and then left it to me, that would've been entirely different. I stopped coming here after that, and it's a decision I do not regret.

She was running late and I had to wait 20 minutes past my appointment time. There is not an official waiting area so I just sat on the hair washing chairs right outside the waxing room. I got a wax but during the wax, the lady was on the phone the whole time with someone else speaking Russian. She did not try to communicate with me at all. There was wax and remaining hairs leftover in my area that was waxed. Sometimes other waxers will clean it up for you with tweezers, but not here. After the wax she did not give me any instruction for aftercare and I had to ask what to do. I would not come back here again.
