I walked into the office at 4:10 and said, "Hello, I have a 4:15 appointment." Someone with an "office manager" nametag snapped back, "It was at 4:00 and I also don't have your insurance information." Um....it's great to meet you, too? This was so rude and unwelcoming, especially for a first-time client. I had made the appointment online (for 4:15, as stated) and had indeed entered my insurance information, which the office manager eventually acknowledged. She continued to be curt and abrupt, so I guess her "greeting" was a signal of her personality. I decided to stay, and luckily the optometrist (Shannon) and the optician (Ajhia) were both great. Shannon did the usual eye testing and discussed the results with me as well as answering a couple of questions I had. Ajhia was fun to work with as I selected frames, and ran several different pricing options for my choices to see what combination of insurance and discounts would get me the best price. I'll pick up the glasses in two weeks and will update if anything changes, but in the meantime, I highly recommend this place once you get past the gatekeeper.

All I wanted was to find an eye doc and staff that would help and listen. Finding a pair of glasses has always been difficult for me. This experience started off hopeful, but after I got my glasses it went downhill! I paid a WHOLE LOT of money for a pair of glasses that have been nothing but trouble and are now causing my vision to be worse. Each time I went back for an adjustment and / or expressed my concerns / worries in regards to how the glasses were working out for me, it always ended with "give it a little longer". On my final visit I was told my glasses were no longer under warranty. OF COURSE NOT! Yes, I accept my part in not knowing the exact date my warranty expired, but as mentioned, when I would go in for assistance I was trusting the experts. It became harder for me to express my concerns as I was now starting to feel very much like a number and once they got my money my concerns were not important enough to be heard. This may not be the case for everyone, but was for me. If anyone knows of an eye doc and staff that truly want to help, please let me know.

Come here first! From finding a prescription mistake made by my previous Optometrist to getting the…read morelens by the next day, The Eye Bar is the best place you can possibly go for your eye-care! Reasons why this place is better than the rest. 1) Finding the right frame is a breeze. Jared and his team helped me find a frame so perfect that it could've been made exclusively for me. (I went to 2 different eye-wear stores before The Eye Bar and barely anyone would talk to help me find a great pair). 2) Incredibly fast service! Visiting home on break I was in a rush to get the new glasses on both times (more on the "both" below) by noon the next day the glasses were ready to be picked up. When I went to pickup the glasses the first time when I put them on something wasn't right, I shockingly was able to see better without my glasses than with them on! I let Jared know and after checking the prescription that my optometrist wrote Jared and I figured out that my prescription was wrong! Jared set me up with an appointment with his optometrist and after a great eye exam with her, I had an entirely new prescription. The next day Jared's associate gave me a call letting me know my glasses were ready. The best part is throughout this whole process all the Eye Bar staff were exceptionally friendly and kind, I can't recommend this place enough!

My love affair with Costco Optical continues…read more Once again, they quoted me a price on contact lenses that was less than half of the optometrist's office. And once again, the service was great. This year I decided to get glasses, too. Their selection is smaller than at bigger stores like Lens Crafters, but their prices are a mere fraction of what you would pay elsewhere. I'm used to paying a few hundred dollars for nice frames, but at Costco I got a cute, trendy pair for $50 (not including lenses). FIFTY BUCKS! Never again will I pay Lens Crafters prices for frames. Be aware, though, that they make the glasses off site, so you order them and it takes a few days to come in (for me the glasses and contacts were in within 5 business days). That means they don't do "glasses in an hour" at this store.

Prices for contacts or glasses are noticeably less than I had been paying at Clarkson Eyecare…read more Frame selection is less varied but I had no trouble finding some I liked. If the eye doctor changes your prescription after you get the glasses, they will redo them free. Glasses came back promptly after ordered. Beware, however of two things. First, the optical area is ALWAYS understaffed for the number of customers, so expect to wait 30-60 minutes every time you visit. This means you will be helped by a staff person who is hurried and under pressure, with five or more people waiting for you to finish. They have no "line" or even "take a number" system, so you have no idea how long the line actually is. Second, every optical retailer I'm aware of is willing to exchange unopened boxes of contacts if your prescription changes. Not Costco! I purchased contacts in September of 2019. Dr. Steele changed my prescription in February of 2020. I had two boxes of contacts (approx $200) in the old prescription (with an expiration date on the box of 2024) and Costco refused to exchange them because my original contact prescription (NOT my purchase) was more than 12 months old. Happily, I found out 1800Contacts has prices that are better than Costco and they were willing to take back the contacts I purchased AT Costco(!) and fill my new prescription with that credit.....and they were far faster, friendlier, and competent. My advice is that the "savings" isn't worth the hassle, the lack of customer service, and the more restrictive approach to exchanges of contacts.

Beware of Bait-and-Switch Sales Tactics at This Location…read more THE SALE: We specifically requested premium Crizal HR coatings and XTRActive Polarized Transitions lenses that would darken while driving. THE "WAIT 3 MONTHS" TRAP: When the lenses didn't darken in the car, staff told us to give them three months because they would get darker over time. We followed their advice, which pushed us past the 30-day window. THE REVEAL: Within two months, the lenses were also severely scratched. When we later reviewed the order with LensCrafters, we discovered we had received neither the Crizal HR coating nor the XTRActive Polarized Transitions lenses we specifically requested and were told we were getting. THE BLAME: Management then told us we were past the 30-day return window, wanted about $1,400 for replacement lenses, and said we should have caught the abbreviated product descriptions on the receipt. You shouldn't need an optometry degree to decode a receipt and make sure the salesperson ordered what was requested and promised. This is about trust, and LensCrafters completely lost ours.
