Nick came out to our home, talked with us for several hours, provided an estimate for everything we wanted in our deck, and it was under budget!!! Bruce built our deck; he was very thorough and did a great job. After the deck was completed, we had a problem with the lights not working; both Nick and a person from the lighting company (which is close to where we live) came out to inspect and fix the problem (one of the lights was faulty, but it was replaced the same day). Homeowners Beware -- Save Yourself the Headache…read more I entered into an agreement with Superior Design and Restoration LLC in February 2025 with the best of intentions and a genuine desire to support a local contractor. Unfortunately, my experience has been deeply frustrating, exhausting, and unacceptable, and I feel it is necessary to warn others before they make the same mistake. After signing a contract on February 10, 2025, and selecting my roofing shingles on March 11, I encountered nothing but delays, disrespect, miscommunication, and flat-out dishonesty--with one exception: Zach, the sales representative. Zach was professional, courteous, and did everything within his role to help me. Sadly, he seems to be the only competent person in the organization. The job was scheduled for April 25--and then canceled less than 24 hours beforehand. What followed was weeks of being ignored, lied to, and pushed around. I was incredibly patient throughout this ordeal, but it began to feel like I was begging them to do the very work they were already paid to do. I made call after call, and each time I was met with incomplete answers, false promises, or no response at all. Maria, one of the staff members, was especially combative and disrespectful--refusing to identify herself over the phone, cutting me off, and even trying to push a last-minute material drop-off and install without my agreement. She outright lied about materials being ordered, which was later debunked by another staff member, Dave, during an in-person meeting. When my wife, Laura, visited their office to try to resolve the issue face-to-face, Maria was just as rude and dismissive to her, showing a complete lack of professionalism and basic decency. It was clear from that meeting that Maria and Keith (the owner) are at the root of the dysfunction within this company. Keith eventually called me on May 15, 2025--the exact deadline I had set for a resolution in my formal demand letter. Instead of taking responsibility or offering a refund, he offered only excuses and immediately, without hesitation, refused to return the $7,666.50 we paid, despite the fact that they had not done a single minute of work or even ordered materials. To make matters worse, I later came across a google review from another customer stating that their new roof installed by Superior was leaking, and they too were being given the runaround. That solidified for me that this isn't just about poor customer service--it's about deeply flawed operations, poor workmanship, and leadership that refuses to take accountability.

Joe responded after a few days saying that an availability opened up and should be able to wash my deck in a couple of weeks. He kept me informed the whole time. I was given all the instructions and what to expect before their visit. On the scheduled date, their crew came and power washed the deck thoroughly. Next day, they promptly showed up and stained it. Also, they were to power wash my deck and seal it. The windows needed special attention because spiders build webs in the windows then poop all over them. It's really gross, and I especially hired Grime Busters to take care of this problem. I specified this as the reason I was getting my house pressure washed. As such, I was told to remove all of my window screens to ensure the best results. So when they were finished, imagine my anger when I looked in my upstairs window and it looked as if water hadn't touched the window at all. OK. We all make careless mistakes. I called and someone came back out to inspect the job of the previous person. Agreed they didn't do a good job, but he didn't come back with a pressure washer to fix the problem! He asked me to use my pressure washer...uhh, WHAT? That's not all. The original washer also left whole areas of my deck unwashed then sealed over them. You could look and tell the angle he washed the stairs and balusters - imagine the sun casting a shadow is the best way I can describe it. So of course when he sealed the deck, whole areas of the deck didn't get sealed, because they weren't washed properly. I was also told the seal would last (assuming proper washing, of course) for 3-5 years. Even on the areas I felt were properly washed, rain water stopped beading on the deck within weeks. The last thing is they were to restain my white deck railings, and they did this, but sloppily. I have white wood railings on white (pvc? plastic-like) balusters. The white stain for the wood can be seen on the plastic -like balusters. In all, while I appreciated their attitude and they were very respectful, I paid $2500 to have a job done well and it was not. And returning without the equipment to correct the problem was pretty inexcusable.

I purchased a Living Social voucher for this company and immediately called to schedule the work to…read morebe done in a home that I was purchasing but had not closed on yet; it was about 3-4 weeks out from the time I called to my desired appointment date. When I made that initial phone call, I described EXACTLY what I wanted done in my home (install a light fixture in the ceiling of three bedrooms, none of which had any existing such fixture previously installed). The person I spoke with asked me additional questions for clarification (did I have an attic {yes} and was there a switch in each room that operated an outlet somewhere in the room {yes}). I was told that if my answer to those questions had been a "no", then they wouldn't be able to do the work because it would require a licensed electrician, which they were not, but since I said yes they would be able to just "fishline" down the wire and get it done. The day before my appointment I was called to confirm the job date and time, which I did. The next morning, the guy showed up 25 min late and apologized saying that he had gone to a different job site that he was on the schedule to do, only to arrive there and find another employee already there who informed him that the jobs had been switched around (but no one had told him apparently). So I was a little bit put off but no biggie. I showed the guy the bedrooms and the lights I wanted installed and the attic, but suddenly he says "I'm not equipped to do this job, let me make a phone call to the boss." He steps out, comes back in a few min later, and tells me that not only can HE not do the job, but NOBODY in the company is licensed to do that job. I was SO mad because I had described the job in detail over the phone and they should have told me then that this was not something they could do. I had taken the day off of work for nothing! So I asked for his boss's phone number, and called him. That, my Yelp friends, is when this went even further down hill (and caused me to give them a one star rating instead of a two).... The boss/owner, Mike, did say "I'm sorry". I'll state that upfront, yes, he did. But his tone from the get-go with me was RUDE, AGGRESSIVE, and with a VERY loud tone....at one point I even held the phone away from my ear because it was so loud and I stated to the employee (standing in front of me): Do you hear how he is speaking to me?!?! Mike said that they could not do the work because it was a liability issue, if my house burned down they would be liable because they are NOT electricians...he asked me to be sure that I included that in my Yelp review when I mentioned to him that I would be sure to up this company here, so there it is. Yes, I understand they cannot do the work for liability reasons, but my problem here is that they even scheduled the job in the first place rather than telling me this would not be possible. Mike said "human errors happen all the time" (regarding why someone made the appt), and while this is true, it was his beyond unprofessional attitude with me on the phone that totally made this experience even worse. I told him he should review the records to see who took my original call so he can be sure they do not repeat the same mistake again, and he said they keep thorough records and he will do that (we'll see). To give a fair review, Mike did try to stress that I had a 4-hr voucher that they were very willing to honor if I had any other projects to be done around the home, but while I do have a project list a mile long (welcome to home ownership and buying your first home), they were all projects I felt I could tackle on my own or with my dad's help (who happens to be visiting this week) so I didn't feel like I should pay for work that I could do for free on my own anyway. I decided to send the employee away and get my money back from Living Social. So in the end, I cannot speak for the quality of any of the work that they do, because none was performed in my home. But I can absolutely say that if you hire this company and everything doesn't go smoothly, be prepared for nasty dealings with an owner who needs to take a class or two on customer service.
