Gayle and I found this hotel on the on the village green in Broadway, the 'Jewel of the Cotswolds'…read more This is a cosy sixteenth-century inn which for us brought together the best combination of outdoor patio, bar, restaurant, and room during our recent 6 day walk. Here are my ratings: Location (5 Stars) - Right downtown and an easy walk around High street. Very dog friendly and very nice front desk staff. Bar (5 Stars) - Gorgeous inside bar area, which we saw both from ground level and via the upper catwalk to our room. Service was friendly and engaging. Patio (5 Stars) - Steller outdoor patio on a very nice day. We relaxed with our drinks and never wanted this experience to end. Dinner (5 Stars) - As fine a dining experience as we had during our week in the Cotswolds. We took dinner in a very nice dining room with comfortable seating and excellent meal choices. Breakfast (5 Stars). Breakfast was in the dining room and featured good selection, nice dining room, timely service, strong coffee, good portions, and tasty choices. You can't do much better than that. Accommodation (4 Stars). One thing we found about historic UK Inns is that climbing up the stairs with luggage is required. Yes, they'll help you, but we're starting to get a little old for this. The room was a big small, but we really appreciated having both a bedroom and sitting room, which accommodated our different sleep schedules.

We booked this hotel through American Express and got a complimentary upgrade to a splendid room…read more The room was a good size and I especially loved the decor and natural light. The bathroom was on the smaller size but clean. Our room was stocked with tea and a tablet where you could order everything from hot milk, room service, to dinner for your dog. The house itself is really spacious with lots of rooms to lounge and enjoy a drink or tea. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to enjoy the spa or other amenities. We enjoyed a five course dinner at the Portager which was excellent. The restaurant over looks the garden and is just lovely. Make a dinner reservation at the same time you book your room to avoid any disappointments. The portion sizes were tiny so don't come hungry. Breakfast the following morning was also a treat. They had all the standard fixings (pastries, fruit, cereals and juice). I ordered waffles from the hot menu but found they were rock hard, definitely pass. I would highly recommend Dormy if you wanna treat yourself to a rustic cotswolds retreat.

Such a beautiful hotel. Every room was fantastic! If possible rent the "attic" or the "studio"…read more The studio has a full drum set!? and a turntable stocked with fabulous records. All the staff was attentive and engaging. Every morning at breakfast Alex was so attentive to our specific dietary needs and tolerated our weird American humor! She made sure we had a great breakfast to start our day. Isadora at the front "desk" was also so helpful and fun. She gave us wonderful suggestions specific to the area and so fun to laugh with. The morning we left I was having a little tummy trouble and she made me a hot tea with fresh ginger. The spa was amazing! We started every morning in the sauna and salt room. We were sad to leave and will definitely return.

The idyllic, remote countryside setting was hard to resist. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated in traditional English country style and the grounds are beautifully kept with natural English gardens in both the front and back. Our room was very clean and well-appointed with little biscuits, tea and a lovely big tub. Why not five stars? 1.) we had brought local cheese and crackers with us to enjoy in the front garden for a little picnic and were told we couldn't have "outside" food there and would need to make purchases which was off putting given the great setting and that there was literally no one else out there. 2.) The food in the restaurant is *so* delicious but the atmosphere could really use some work. It felt like we were in a sterile cruise ship dining room with awkward music playing and near silence. It felt like this room had a different decor style from much of the remainder of the Manor. Some simple tweaks like a change of music and different wallpaper/chairs could make the dining room experience 5 stars.

A regret of our trip was not having enough time to really explore the grounds more. Small but smartly decorated suite that somehow managed to be modern, cozy, luxurious, and evocative of the rural throwback fishing theme. Excellent amenities including Cotswold woolen blankets in the rooms and high end soaps and shampoos. Great, hearty breakfast service. High quality of food and service at dinner too. Impeccable service at the front desk. Sadly, with all they're doing right, there were still a few rough spots: Iffy wifi that only worked in the lobby. Activities that were highly touted on their website and were a main reason for our staying there, only to be booked solid all weekend. (They had slots for a paltry six individuals per hour, limited hours, and some of them were age restricted. Maybe some extra capacity could be added on busy weekends?) Rooms with no closets, and very little storage at all. (That was common for the rooms we booked on our trip, though. This would not be a concern for a couple on a weekend getaway, but it was challenging for a family on a longer vacation.) Overall, however, we loved our stay here, would recommend it and would return ourselves.
