We booked this hotel through American Express and got a complimentary upgrade to a splendid room…read more The room was a good size and I especially loved the decor and natural light. The bathroom was on the smaller size but clean. Our room was stocked with tea and a tablet where you could order everything from hot milk, room service, to dinner for your dog. The house itself is really spacious with lots of rooms to lounge and enjoy a drink or tea. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to enjoy the spa or other amenities. We enjoyed a five course dinner at the Portager which was excellent. The restaurant over looks the garden and is just lovely. Make a dinner reservation at the same time you book your room to avoid any disappointments. The portion sizes were tiny so don't come hungry. Breakfast the following morning was also a treat. They had all the standard fixings (pastries, fruit, cereals and juice). I ordered waffles from the hot menu but found they were rock hard, definitely pass. I would highly recommend Dormy if you wanna treat yourself to a rustic cotswolds retreat.

Such a beautiful hotel. Every room was fantastic! If possible rent the "attic" or the "studio"…read more The studio has a full drum set!? and a turntable stocked with fabulous records. All the staff was attentive and engaging. Every morning at breakfast Alex was so attentive to our specific dietary needs and tolerated our weird American humor! She made sure we had a great breakfast to start our day. Isadora at the front "desk" was also so helpful and fun. She gave us wonderful suggestions specific to the area and so fun to laugh with. The morning we left I was having a little tummy trouble and she made me a hot tea with fresh ginger. The spa was amazing! We started every morning in the sauna and salt room. We were sad to leave and will definitely return.

Gayle and I found this hotel on the on the village green in Broadway, the 'Jewel of the Cotswolds'…read more This is a cosy sixteenth-century inn which for us brought together the best combination of outdoor patio, bar, restaurant, and room during our recent 6 day walk. Here are my ratings: Location (5 Stars) - Right downtown and an easy walk around High street. Very dog friendly and very nice front desk staff. Bar (5 Stars) - Gorgeous inside bar area, which we saw both from ground level and via the upper catwalk to our room. Service was friendly and engaging. Patio (5 Stars) - Steller outdoor patio on a very nice day. We relaxed with our drinks and never wanted this experience to end. Dinner (5 Stars) - As fine a dining experience as we had during our week in the Cotswolds. We took dinner in a very nice dining room with comfortable seating and excellent meal choices. Breakfast (5 Stars). Breakfast was in the dining room and featured good selection, nice dining room, timely service, strong coffee, good portions, and tasty choices. You can't do much better than that. Accommodation (4 Stars). One thing we found about historic UK Inns is that climbing up the stairs with luggage is required. Yes, they'll help you, but we're starting to get a little old for this. The room was a big small, but we really appreciated having both a bedroom and sitting room, which accommodated our different sleep schedules.

We've stayed at Buckland a few times over the years and it was charming. Our latest experience was…read moreless than optimal. The bell people were either too small or frail to help us bring our bags up the stairs. There is not a lift. The rooms need refreshing -badly. Everything including the service seemed "tired" - not quaint or charming. The bar service was inconsistent. Sometimes, the drinks were phenomenal and other times they were subpar. The dining experience was lackluster and the food was average. The chef and staff have changed since our last experiences and it shows in every detail. Would seriously reconsider staying here. What a shame, it had such charm and vibrancy that it is now lacking.

Tucked away right before the main Broadway strip, Buckland is a gorgeous manor…read more We didn't stay at the manor but went for afternoon tea. The lobby lounge area was very quaint and cozy for tea. We sat on some cushy couches to enjoy. The tea selections were plentiful and several options for the tea food as well. The service was also on point. The food was just ok - one of the finger sandwiches was dry around the edges, so it had clearly been pre-cut and sitting out. The fruit scone was also extremely dry, burnt, crumbled at the touch. Surprising and unfortunate. One of the sweet options on the top rack was stuck to the plate so it exploded as we tried to placate it and we didn't really get to eat it. Food was 3 stars at best but the ambiance was key. To note - there was a 10% service charge auto-added to our bill and parking is free.

Three Ways House Hotel - Superior Room with One Bed

Off the beaten path…read more This is out of the main area of Chipping Camden in a quiet neighborhood. The place wasn't fancy and reminded me of a bed and breakfast. We started in a small room with no AC. They accommodated us switching to a bigger room with an AC unit since it was hot out. The breakfast was included and was just okay. Based on the breakfast we decided to not try out their dinner and eat other places. Everything was clean and tidy. Overall the service was good and everyone was really nice.

Okay, so I should start with a little backstory. There is an English board game called "The Cooking…read moreGame" which our daughter played with us and her friends as a child. You go around the board collecting ingredients to make classic English dishes. The first person to complete a starter, main course and pudding(English dessert), wins. As I was planning our trip, I came across the "Pudding Club" that is held every Friday at the Three Ways House. It was created in the 80's to preserve the history of classic English puddings (or puds, as they are affectionately known). You check in at the desk and are told to present yourselves no later than 7:30 in the dining room. At the appointed time you are greeted, given a glass of elder flower presse' and after some mingling time with the other 60, or so, attendees you are welcomed by the Pudding master and informed of the entrees and puddings that will be served that evening. You are seated at assigned tables and provided with a light dinner after which the fun really begins. The Pudding Club is brought to order and the rules are disclosed. There are 7 puddings every evening and lashings of custard are strongly encouraged. On the night we were there we dined on poached salmon followed by Summer Pudding, Eaton Mess, Sussex Pond Pudding, sticky toffee pudding, chocolate mousse, Lord Randall's Pudding and black currant Charlotte. As we had requested the Sussex Pond Pudding and the chef had been kind enough to add it to the evening's lineup our daughter was tapped to carry it in the Parade of Puddings that usher in the dessert portion of the festivities. It was a masterwork consisting of a pastry shell over whole lemons making for a sweet/tart/crusty delight. Finally all present vote on their favorite and a winner is crowned, it was the sticky toffee per usual. Tea, coffee and goodbyes brought our fun evening to a close. Hurrah for puddings!
