I recently decided to sell some bullion coins and silver bars, after moving back to Hemet. Since my options were limited (ie not much else around), I decided to take my items to Crown Gold Exchange. I went later in the day, but still about an hour before closing. Upon walking in, I did not feel uber comfortable, as the store looked like it was attempting to maintain a look of semi-dark, high-end luxury. Some people might appreciate that, but for me it was a bit of a turnoff. That said, the interior of the store was clean - bordering on sterile- and I was greeted politely by the young man at the front desk. He invited me to sit down and discuss the reason for my business. As we began speaking, I cut to the chase and told him I was looking to sell some gold and silver bullion and coins, and asked if that was something he could handle. He politely stated that he was not able to assist me with much of what I needed but that he would try. So...I showed him my pieces and asked how they priced their items. He immediately said that, indeed, he would not be able to help me, as his "bullion and coin guy" was not there. He did, however, offer to send him a text with photos, to which I obliged. He got a response back in less than five minutes but I was appalled and insulted on the prices offered for my items. I mean...not only was I insulted, but it quickly illustrated how this company makes money: they pay pennies on the dollar to people desperate for money, then turn around and sell at a HUGE premium. In fact, the young man who was assisting me qualified those very thoughts for me. Thankfully, I was not desperate for cash and walked out. For those in the know, I was offered barely 50% of spot price on .999 silver, and only hair better on .9999 gold. The silver coins (eg ASE's, Canadian Maples etc) were laughably priced, as they offered the same deal...about 50% less than spot with ZERO accommodation for the numismatic value. That is absolutely ridiculous! I knew that I would not be paid retail prices for my items, and didn't even expect to get wholesale pricing; I figured I would get around spot price for the bullion and maybe spot + a SMALL premium for the sovereign coins, but boy was I shocked to learn their offers. Had it not been for the fact that the shop was clean and the young guy was polite, this would be a 1-star rating. My advice to you...if you need to sell coins, bullion, or jewelry, take them to Main Street Coin & Jewelry in San Jacinto. You will get a better and much fairer price for your items. I mean come on...the young guy basically gave me the run down, saying they buy super low so they can sell super guy. That is obviously their prerogative, but it felt like a predatory business, especially since their (supposed) targets are people who desperately need cash and/or know nothing about what they bring in to sell. I would steer you away at all costs and like I said... take your things to Main Street Coin & Jewelry in San Jacinto. It's only about 5 miles away. Don't get ripped off by Crown! ***ADDITIONAL EDIT FOLLOWING OWNER's. RESPONSE, 3/29 *** I'm adding this note in response to the owner's reply to my review. It should be noted that the owner emailed me multiple times, asking for details of what occurred on my visit to Crown. He seemed genuinely concerned with what I had written as it pertains to their "normal business operations and buying policies," as he put it. I provided him with as much information as I recalled, in hopes of assisting him determine where the disconnect was with his employees re: pricing policies and practices quoted to me. Sadly, I now see that he cares less about the actual disconnect (and my experience) and more about my 2-star rating of his business. Case in point is his response below. Not only does he take NO responsibility for what occurred, but he essentially calls me a liar when stating that my "recollection of events is inaccurate." Quite honestly, while I initially felt conflicted about leaving a negative review, even one based on my experience, I now feel somewhat vindicated for the poor review, as the owner failed to take any kind of responsibility while simultaneously stating that I was lying. While my initial review was 2 stars, I felt I laid it out respectfully and made sure to point out the positive aspects I could find from my visit. That said, as of today, 3/30/2023, I am lowering my review to 1 star. I took the time to respond to 3 or 4 emails he sent, as I felt a responsibility in helping him determine what happened over the course of my visit, but because he was unable to determine what occurred, or qualify my experience, his reaction is to call me a liar (essentially). In my opinion, FWIW, that is no way to do business, especially since he was more concerned with the Yelp rating than solving an issue in his business operations. Two dollars UNDER spot for American Silver Eagles? Are they serious? And they look at you as if they just found the cure for AIDS! Update: I just read the owner's response and I appreciate his comments. However: Spot price should be the minimum price offered for plain silver bars or rounds. American Silver Eagles carry at least a $1 premium above, even for a SINGLE Eagle. I can get that from MANY shops and private collectors within a 20 mile radius. BTW: -2 was the price offered for five tubes (100 Eagles) and four tubes (80 rounds) of silver Maple Leafs. But, again - thank you for your response; on a Sunday no less. read more

I took a beautiful diamond ring with an emerald that I've had professionally appraised at $3500. The lady that helped me did not day one word to me when checking my ring. She didn't even look at the diamonds and emerald. She just swatched my ring on that thing they use to check if it's gold or not. She then proceeded to weigh my ring and use the calculator. When I asked if the diamonds were worth anything she was very condescending and said no. I then got up and said "thank you, have a nice day" I'm hoping this is not an everyday attitude. I went in today to have a ring checked and the older woman who was working was not in the least friendly. She did her checking without saying a word and then handed the ring back and all she said was "nope". She was very unfriendly. I didn't care if the ring was gold as I had found it in a parking lot and was curious, however if you're in customer service, you should be a tad more friendly and interactive. I would not recommend AAA Gold Exchange to anyone. I have been in twice and I know the market very well. I have sold a lot of silver and gold in the last couple years. The first time I took in a bag of silver quarters and they were only going to give me $1.50 each where when I went to another coin shop in Sun City, they gave me $4.00 each. I just went back in today with a Gold coin and after the girl looked it up she actually lied to me about the weight of the coin. I knew before I went in that is was 16 grams, aprox 1/2 ounce of gold. She told me it was a 1/4 ounce of gold and would give me $277. I took it to Sun City and they gave me $565 and it was 1/2 an ounce of gold. AAA Gold Exchange is totally there to take your gold and give you nothing for it. I will never go back there again nor will I recommend anyone to go in there. I do not know how they stay in business except for someone who has no idea the value of the gold or silver that they have. Stay away from this place. They are lying to you. read more
