This was my third time giving this place a chance, and unfortunately, it will be my last…read more Each time, I booked a 90-99 minute massage, hoping that the longer session would allow enough time to focus on the areas I actually needed addressed. During my first visit, I booked a Swedish massage. The pressure was medium, and although the technique wasn't what I would expect, the massage felt good enough that I decided to give the place another try. I used to work at a massage school, so I have some familiarity with massage techniques and what a quality session should look like. My second visit was for deep tissue. Again, the technique was unusual, but I decided to give the business one more opportunity. Today, I booked another deep-tissue massage with Lisa. I completed the online intake form and specifically identified the areas I wanted addressed. When I arrived, I was asked again whether I wanted Swedish or deep tissue and was asked to circle my focus areas again. This same experience has happened on all three visits, which makes me question whether the online intake forms are being reviewed at all. Unfortunately, the bigger issue is that the in-person feedback doesn't seem to make a difference either. During today's massage, once I realized the therapist was finished working on my back, I specifically asked her to focus exclusively on my upper and lower back and shoulders. I explained that there was no need to turn me over or continue working on my arms, legs, or feet. My back and shoulders were the primary reason I booked the appointment, and I wanted to give the therapist ample time to address those areas. Despite that very clear request, the technique remained largely the same: repetitive pressure using elbows and forearms, often over the sheet, with very little use of the hands or fingers. I understand that deep-tissue massage can involve elbows and forearms, but technique and precision matter. The pressure felt more like grinding over my skin and bones than effectively working the muscles I wanted addressed. I left feeling that my concerns had not been addressed, and my back and neck actually hurt worse afterward. For the amount of time and money invested in a longer session, this was incredibly disappointing and honestly one of the worst massage experiences I've had. My frustration isn't simply that I disliked a particular technique. It's that across three separate visits, I repeatedly felt that the therapist followed a predetermined routine rather than listening to my preferences and adapting the massage accordingly. I genuinely wanted to like this place and gave it three opportunities to deliver a better experience. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend it based on my experiences.

I work with computers and as a result of COVID found myself working long hours in front of a…read morecomputer. Over time I developed a tightening neck and shoulder and back pain. I realized I needed of a professional therapeutic massage therapist to get back to a good place. I did some research on yelp and was very impressed with the comments I found about April and Santee Massage. The office complex where April's business Santee Massage is close to the Ramada Inn in Santee. Her office is easy to find, it is the first office on the left (lower level). She shares this location with two talented acupuncture specialists. When you meet April you will find she is very personable and smart. She has over ten years of experience and has gone to school far surpassing time studying massage techniques off many studying this field. She is an expert. Before starting to work on me April asked targeted questions that came from over ten years experience. These questions helped her maximize the time she she spent doing the therapeutic massage. The detail of the questions let me know I was in good experienced hands. Some issues she covered were asking me If I wanted targeted massage specific to my areas in pain verses general massage. The massages was given Small office room one well suited with lights that can be dimmed and aromas to help enhance the therapeutic massage experience. She has a high quality table with a light blanket and sheet below. She even has fans that give a reassuring breeze while she works. Her skill has lead to many returning customers. As she worked on me I could see that her high reviews on Yelp were well deserved. She obviously knows what she is doing. She works with her hands following a guided plan. In her head Her pre-questions now act as a map she uses to move from one area to the next. She worked not only on areas that were causing me pain but also other areas as well. She explained to me how everything when it comes to your body and pain is interrelated. She had special methods she knows like holding up my legs up and folding them towards the main frame of my body relieving tension in my lower back (genius). All her training and knowledge she has gained in those ten years is paying off. From start to end April is very thorough she made sure as she worked that I was ok and not in pain from any of the work she was doing. She adjusted her techniques as needed. From my first appointment I can say April shows a sincere interest in wanting to help. She, because she is good is very busy. You may need a couple of weeks to be able to see her. Post massage: The overall experience was better than expected. I am very happy with the overall results. Yes I am a bit sore, but that is a good thing and to be expected, I think. She makes no promises but is so efficient at what she does that I truly believe she will be successful in helping me over time. Her prices are fair. I plan on seeng her for more sessions until my pain is under control. I fully believe April will using her skills help me feel a lot better. I highly recommend her. She has proven to me that she is very good at what she does.

Half way through it just stayed off and I could hear people talking in the hallway. My massage therapist was very nice, so I asked her if she could turn on the music again and she said " sure, I don't know why it always turns off" she started it again but within mins it turned off again. I didn't ask again. I tried to relax but had a hard time. I won't be returning to get another massage here. I left her a tip because I felt like it wasn't her fault that the music wasn't staying on but I wish I could have had the full time I paid for 105 mins. Trying a different spa next month.
