This used to be my go to local liquor store for over 10 years. Recently it went through a…read moremanagement/ownership change. Service has gone from excellent and some times above & beyond to abysmal. They are removing interesting hard to find items with huge stacks of generic ales. They were previously well known for their craft beers and large variety of different stouts, porters and Scotch ales. Not to mention the wine & spirits selection was amazing. I am now much less interested in utilizing their services so much so that even though they are walking distance to my home, I Uber or bus to Shrewsbury or utilize delivery services to get the selection & variety I want.

Upon a brief interaction with the hostess, we both felt spoken down to: "YOU'RE trying to come in on Valentine's day? Without a reservation?" This, coming from someone with a Worcester accent who was dressed like a boy going to church choir. We were shooed away into the dining area: "I guess you could stand over there and look at the menu". It's about 330 in the afternoon- most tables are completely empty. Then a different staff member, also with a working class accent, says "I need you to clear out of this walkway because this is for staff only", despite the fact that no staff were walking there and we had been standing there about 20-30 seconds. We left without saying anything as the hostess tried to say something to us. If you want to feel spoken down to, in the working class city of Worcester no less, come here. Alternately, if you're feeling aggressive and want to squeeze your way in to sit touching shoulder to shoulder, come here. The time before this, the hostess was a soft-spoken woman who mumbled a lot; we had to elbow people out of the way at the middle bar section, which is where she directed us. Maybe in another year I'll want to come back for lunch only. Honestly, I'd rather drive back to Boston if I'm going to be treated snobbishly.

However great their craft brew selection is, they are more focused on fine wines with the obligatory 40oz and macro-brew selection in the walk-in cooler. Like every wild crazy, insanely conjured craft beer that may be known to man. It takes up 2/3 of their store, which I may add is sparkling, shiny and new still after a couple years. It's a much-needed addition to West Boylston because WB liquors is AWFUL and the people are RUDE Af there. Legit so so so so sooo many beers and almost all of them stored cold. LOVE IT! Not the largest selection of wine, but what they do have is very nice! Liquor is good and they have some of the lesser seen mixers, aperitifs and such. One plus here - there is a large clean bathroom for customers!! So nice when you must see the boozeman before getting home but you forget to pee before you leave the office! Most of the time I use their delivery service which is only $5.99 (plus a tip for the driver). In some instances, especially when shopping for gifts, I visit this store. I found their prices to be much more competitive than grocery stores or local liquor stores. They offer 10% discounts on quantity wine purchases and have occasional flash sales providing a 15% discount. They offer classes and wine tastings here, and have a good rewards program which earns $5 credits among other perks. They have a large humidor and offer many non-alcoholic gift items. Returns have been easy on the rare occasions needed, and on two occasions when my delivery order was incorrect, the Total Wine customer service team immediately credited me for the incorrect items. Their delivery has always been on time, within the one-hour window provided. Their text updates make it easy to track the delivery.

Kj's has a huge selection of wines, both domestic and imports. They also have a seperate tasting room which is a great idea. The interior is clean and tastefully decorated. They sell sparkling wines (Champagne, Cava, etc) and liquors that they might not carry at other places. While this is mainly a wine store, they do a good job of offering other liquids. They have a good cheese selection as well. And they are always offering free tastes of the cheeses. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about everything in the store. If you live in the area, definitely worth stopping in. One of the finer wine shops in the area.
