I along with many others are honestly extremely disappointed with this establishment recently as…read moreyou fail to provide basic necessities such as resistance bands or proper attachments for machines. We pay more for this gym than others near combined and shouldn't have to spend almost $20 extra for something that should be provided by a gym. On top of this nearly everyday there is something going on in base camp that should be hosted in one of the yoga rooms, base camp is very popular and should be accesible for ALL paying members when they want to use it.

I chose this gym because I thought the price would make it more of an adult setting and not a bunch…read moreof teens and screaming kids, but I was wrong. They cater to the kids and dues paying, working adults come secondary. They sell you on all the amenities like pool and spa, but fail to tell you that If you work a job like most adults you will never be able to use the pool or spa without screaming kids or groups of teens playing grab ass, the no diving or horseplay is never enforced. Think they set aside time for hardworking, paying adults to swim in peace, nope think again Mon-Fri 12pm to 7pm is family time and when they run their second business of paid swim lessons. That's right you pay your dues so they can charge others extra for swim lessons during peak after work hours. So as a working person you can not swim laps or avoid screaming kids jumping in the spa. Oh, but if you want to come in at the crack of dawn or right at closing time you can swim laps, pretty hard to do if you work a regular job. They also do a horrible job keeping kids off the machines which will be your only option since the pool is off limits while you are there. And if it's volleyball season they rent out the racquetball courts to high school teams to practice. Avoid at all costs, and it's an expensive one, if you want to workout or relax in peace as this is a afterschool hangout and they are all on their phones sitting on machines, even kids on phones in the spa watching videos and no one ever comes thru to police anybody.

Recently I made the fearless decision to change my career path…read more In order to begin this path, I had a deadline to meet for a physical ability test. With little gym training, I had to search for a personal trainer and fast! I found Burntown Fitness! Personal trainers Kisar and Traci have the expertise and patience to get you through your challenge, whatever that may be. In less than 3 months, I successfully completed the physical ability test exceeding minimum qualifications, and was able to be tested remotely at their facility. I have interviews lined-up in law enforcement! I am beyond grateful!

I was looking for a gym that was close to my house, and that had early morning sessions to fit my schedule. What I didn't expect is an amazing facility, with a fantastic training staff, an owner who cares about every single one of his clients on a personal level, and a clientele with that get-it-done attitude to keep me motivated. I am the kind of person that needs a trainer to tell me what to do, to push my limits, and take an interest in my health and fitness goals. I feel like Kisar (the owner) is always trying to improve the classes by bringing in new and fresh ideas to the table, which is great, considering I really enjoy challenges. And if you work out with him, be prepared to get REKT. That guy pushes you to your limits, every time!! Burntown also has nutrition programs to help you kick start your journey. And the trainers... can't be spoken about highly enough. Each one is FANTASTIC and adds their own flavor and style to their classes (s/o to Emily who has a booming/motivating voice, who takes time to correct my form and lets me know if something looks to easy for me). I love a gym that takes time to learn about each members goals, and help them achieve them. And I love a great community that supports one another, and you get that here with Burntown!

They staff the gym at hours that are tough for people with 9-6 jobs. I had a 2 month membership while I was in town and I wasn't able to make it in to return my card before my membership expired. I sent the following message to the owner and received the following response: "Good afternoon, I leave the state tomorrow and need to return my access card to receive a refund. I called the phone number and wasn't given any options besides needing to come in when the staff is working. The staff hours are not ideal for anyone with a 9-6 job and the only time I can make it in will be this evening. I do not have access to the door since my membership expired yesterday. What solutions do I have since I will no longer be in Oregon as of this evening? It would be ideal to have a drop box or a way to let someone in for the sake of returning the card. Please help me with facilitating this. Thank you" Response from owner: "Please note that, should you return to Hood River in the future, we ask that you take your business elsewhere as our club is not the right fit for your needs." How rude and unprofessional. The owner could have responded with a solution other than visiting during staffed hours such as mailing the card or another option but I was met with that response. Since I was leaving the state, I stopped by the gym my last evening and had someone let me in to drop the card off since I was given no other options and didn't want to be charged for the access card.

Before I even had a chance to put on my indoor shoes (a policy I found unusual), we were told my sister couldn't work out or even sit on the benches while I worked out. We were only there for about 4-5 minutes and never even got past the front desk (we arrived at 4:03PM and staffed time had ended at 4PM, though I thought we were still within staffed hours). I was later charged a $20 fee because my sister entered with me. While I understand the gym has rules, this felt unnecessary and unfair from my perspective. Because of the way the situation was handled, and the fee applied, I decided to cancel my membership. In my opinion, I would not recommend this gym, as my experience left me feeling unwelcome and disappointed.
