Expect hidden fees upon sign up, and expect more hidden fees upon cancelation (plus a difficult cancelation process.) Make sure to get email verification from VASA that you canceled. Honestly thought the gym was nice, but the billing put a bad taste in my mouth. I probably won't be back. I'd be more likely to come back if they would just be straightforward about billing. In fact, I'd probably be willing to pay more per month if I didn't have to worry about hidden fees. I'll probably go to the local rec center instead. Reflect on yourself: doesn't that feel like a scam? Would you want to do business with a company whose contract you have to thoroughly read just to make sure that you're not getting duped? Don't get me wrong, it's smart to read contracts that you sign. It's just that high-trust organizations don't hide their fees in contracts that they know their customers won't read. You know that most people won't read the contract, and you also know that most people who sign the contract won't be aware of cancelation fees, 30 day cancelation notice requirements, rate guarantee fees, or other fees beyond the monthly payment. Yet, you charge people those fees anyway. That's what makes you a low-trust organization. To the VASA employee who is responding to my review, I know you're not the one who makes these contractual policies. It's not your fault. But if you have any say in the matter, maybe you should bring it up. It could be a great marketing strategy to advertise VASA as the only gym chain in the US with no hidden fees. When it first opened, it was fantastic -- welcoming staff, community events, clean facilities, and a great overall atmosphere. Since the new owner took over, everything has gone downhill. There is rarely any staff present, making it nearly impossible to bring guests or get assistance when needed. You can't purchase merchandise or basic items anymore, which shows a clear lack of basic operational effort. Multiple pieces of equipment are broken and remain unrepaired, and the facility itself is noticeably dirty. It feels neglected and poorly managed. It's obvious that there is little to no pride or care being put into this business anymore. I can no longer recommend this location to anyone. It's truly sad to see what was once a great gym deteriorate so badly. At this pace, I would honestly be surprised if this location is still open a year from now.
