I wanted to learn how to climb a rope so I decided to do a drop in. My expectations was to just find a place and I'd just figure it out somehow on my own. Oh no no. Not the case at all. From the initial call to find out if they can accommodate my request to the end, CrossFit San Ramon was top notch. Tim was super friendly and when I got there, was super helpful. He was very patient and there were times I was struggling for things to just click and each time he helped me out. Offering me tips each and every step of the way. I seriously cannot even imagine life without CrossFit. I tried every weight loss program.. paid thousands for a trainer.. gym membership and nothing helped truly with weight loss/ strength or mental health until I found/ joined CrossFit. Not only are the owners Tim and Lori incredibly kind so are all the members and coaches. I had to leave CrossFit, and all exercise, due to a medical issue. Wanting and needing to get back into - I checked out FIVE (YES 5) local CrossFits in the area and ended up at CROSSFIT SAN RAMON. Not too big; Not too small; Not smelly; LOTS of different equipment not available at the other gyms; Great schedule; 2 bathrooms; and my favorite...not too many coaches - so THEY GET TO KNOW ME and MY needs. OH - and for you girls - THEY HAVE HUGE FANS ALL OVER! They are so welcoming and knowledgeable and the environment (your work-out buddies) cheer you on so you can be the best that YOU can be!! I'm 57 - but here you will find ages 10-77 - seriously. They have something for every age, level of fitness, the hard core to the couch potato - whatever your goal is. Oh and nutrition too - which I plan to check out soon! I love working out!!! Who says that??!! NOT ME... that is.... before coming here!! EXCUSES: I'm to old. I can't do weights. I don't have the energy. I don't have the time. I have past injuries. I'm not sure. Anxiety. I hate working out. I finally just walked in, talked to them, told them my fears and began the next day. All ages, all fitness levels and they can modify anything to your needs, fears, and strength. Coach Tim, Coach Ty, all the coaches are AMAZING, and they know their stuff! I broke my neck years ago on a trampoline, have torn rotator cuffs from throwing newspapers for 10 years, a bum knee from soccer, oh and I have fibromyalgia - thanks Mom! The regular 24 hour, crunch, studio, dance, focus on one thing type of gyms, weren't doing it for me, they were girly, tutu, and boring AND my Dr. said at my age, I need weights for better bones. CrossFit workouts (WOD = Work Out of the Day) are different, and work a different part of your body every day, so it's exciting and NEVER boring. I'm not going to lie, the first few days I thought I was going to die - I tend to push myself - so just getting IN TO the gym was my goal for a few weeks. JUST GO! JUST GETTING THERE is a win! Then you meet people, they encourage you, they are caring, you only compete with yourself, and they make sure you are doing it properly; the right form; the right way; the right balance, etc., you even start to want the music louder - LOL! I have a gym at home - but no way would it do what CROSSFIT SAN RAMON does. It challenges me, pushed me, takes care of me, makes me accountable and makes me WANT to work out! I feel accomplished when I'm done. Plus I get to join in on challenges, play Bingo, attended a ZUMBA class, YOGA, parties, do mini WOD's for my core or just grab some fee cold water and head out feeling strong and ON TOP OF THE WORLD! It's loud and crazy sometimes, they have fun events too, but it's also like family "where everybody knows your name " and they don't care what you look like, or what you are wearing (one day I forgot my shoes). No problem. I think you can try it out for free....but like anything...give it a fair shot. Give yourself time to get used to it too. I have been a member here since 2013 and I can't say how much I love this place! I go about 5-7 days a week! The coaches are awesome and the best part is the community there. I have made lifelong friends there and hang out with many of them on a regular basis! This review is long over-due but anyway better late than never. :) I have been a member of CFSR for over a year now and I tell you things are just keep getting better over here. I walked in to CFSR from zero workout experience and without knowing anything about CrossFit. The first few sessions I had at CFSR already convinced me this is my kind of box and workout activity. Apart from having a great community that is very open, welcoming, supportive, and non-intimidating, the programming and coaching are top-notch. All coaches are very professional, knowledgeable of the movements, passionate about fitness and nutrition and most importantly show genuine care towards athletes' development and safety. In just a matter of a month, I have seen huge results in me physically and mentally. The mental toughness that the WODs brought to the athletes definitely help me also focused on my job and other aspects of life. Six months into CrossFit, I ran my annual half-marathon and oh boy, I cut down about 41 mins of my time from previous years and finished it at 2:09. I credit this to the training I had at CFSR as it boosted my endurance and also elevated my mental toughness. Since joining CFSR, I lost about 14lbs of body fat and gained about 2lbs of muscle weight and I feel more agile and flexible. With this physical transformation, I gained more confidence to socialize and I was able to wear and enjoy more fitted clothing that I used to dream of wearing. If you are looking to have a real life transformation, and yet enjoy and feel excited to do the workout, come try CFSR. Just bring your happy face, positive outlook, and commitment, and you will do great and see results. I signed up with this gym for their outdoor boot camp that took place at Heather Farms park.. The boot camp was great, definitely NOT BORING, and no one was left behind.. I found that the boot camp to be a little easier than expected -- I was looking for something that would push me to my limits and that's when I started their Crossfit classes. I found Crossfit and have not returned to 24 Hr Fitness since. This place will give you your money's worth. Expensive, not really because it WORKS. It's cheaper than a personal trainer, yet that's almost what you get, along with the results. Every warm up and workout is structured and different every day. The clients are all friendly and encouraging. A bond is formed with everyone because the workouts are not like anything you've done before. Everything can be modified to your level of fitness and strength, but the intensity is always high. You will never spend more than an hour from start to finish, yet I've lost 22 pounds and in better shape than I have ever been since high school. Now I'm keeping up with the younger folks and I'll be 50 in Jan. Can't say enough about the place and the trainers! It works. read more

I love this place and hands down its the best Cross Fit gym in San Ramon and surrounding area. Everyone there is very helpful and supportive. To me the best part of this gym is that they offer beginner classes for us overweight folks and it's good way to start, because the workouts are intense. It is not an easy workout, so it is great to have support from the staff and the others in your class. If I had to complaint about something and that's just me is that I would like if they would offer a beginner class at 6am for us folks with a busy schedule. I have been going to CrossFit San Ramon since January. I have two babies, and needless to say have little time for myself and the abs to prove it! I am now doing things I didn't know were possible, especially in less than two months. My posture is better, things are smoothing out, and I have more energy than ever before. Its incredible to work as a class (varying levels of fitness), compete a little, and sweat a lot! I didn't believe it before, but its true: "Your work out is our warm up" The trainers are incredible! I have worked with a few, and each one takes time to teach you correct movements to reduce injury. I personally have a few preexisting injuries, and they have worked with me to make sure I don't agitate them, but also strengthen where I am weak. If you want to push hard and get pushed hard (in a fun and friendly environment), this is the place for you. read more

I'm a long distance runner and a college student. And I have never considered doing crossfit, until well recently. I bought a groupon for 6 classes. And now I'm hungry for more. Last week was my first time doing crossfit and I'm already loving it. The instructors at this gym are professional, friendly, and extremely helpful. I love the class atmosphere and the crossfit community. Everyone is so friendly and encouraging. Since students are at different fitness levels, everyone works at a different pace. But even as a beginner, I did not feel left out. The instructors here pushes me to excel. I'm feeling stronger than ever after each class. Now, I have not been to other crossfit gyms so I cannot compare this one to other gyms. But the experience was amazing and I will continue to do crossfit. read more

I travel quite a bit and I've been to many Crossfit boxes... Boston, Houston, Atlanta, etc. In general, the equipment is consistent and you can't distinguish one from the other. What does make the difference is the coaching and attitude of the athletes in the gym. I have to say that Tim Hill at Crossfit San Ramon is the best coach I've had to date. He cares about the athletes and works to improve on your form and technique. I'm huge on technique. I've seen coaches let people get away with incorrect movements that will get them hurt in the long run. You won't find this at Crossfit San Ramon. I also love that everyone at this box is cool and it really helps get you motivated during your workout. I haven't met anyone with a bad attitude and that goes a long way. If you've been thinking about trying Crossfit or looking for a gym in the Eastbay, give this place a try. I'm sure you won't be disappointed! read more

I've been to another CF gym and thought that all of them were the same. I was wrong, CFSR (Crossfit San Ramon) has changed my view on CF. The people here are friendly. The trainers are helpful, funny and will push you without risking injury. Tim, Lori and Alex are great instructors. When I first started here, I only knew one person but now I've met so many friendly people that when I come here alone, I know that I'll be working out with someone I know and that keeps me coming back. It's also great to see new faces experiencing CF for the first time. I know when I workout here, I will leave sweating from a hard but excellent workout. I would love for you to give it a try.
