I have been working out with Shem Johnson (Owner) and Yankton Sothern (Boxing Instructor) since…read moreOctober 2014 and absolutely love it. I have never been a very active person, and after starting my accounting career, the long hours at my desk meant I had put on 80 pounds before I got up the guts to try and find help. As I have never been a very active person, and hate working out, I thought I would give boxing a try as I heard it can be addictive. That was exactly what I needed, an addictive physical hobby. I researched gyms around Springfield, and decided I would give this place a try. Upon contacting Shem, I found him to be very kind but not a pushover, and I began to really value our personal training sessions that helped me to tone up. I also feel his prices are incredibly reasonable, and the atmosphere of the gym is very encouraging. The other people who do cross fit type activities during my sessions were all encouraging and kept me coming back despite my battles with depression and my long work hours. The Saturday boxing instruction with Yankton was very valuable as well. I learned that boxing is indeed very fun, and technical so it keeps my mind active as well. After every session I would make the 25 minute drive home, and still be covered in sweat by the time I got home so I could show off to my husband how hard I worked. If you are looking for a gym that values their patrons, and won't be snobby, this is the place. If they could get a fatty like me to look forward to working on physical goals, I believe they can work miracles in anyone's life, as long as you are willing to put in the time and effort. I absolutely love working out with Shem and everyone I have met at this gym!

Anytime Fitness…read more.. I've been going to gyms off and on since the '70s. In '88 I was in a nearly fatal one-car rollover. Spending over a year in hospitals and years of lessened activity, my muscles were becoming atrophied. Unable to do many of the things once done with ease...walk, talk, stand, sit, bend, grasp, lift, hold, or do basic functions. I found a good fit here at Anytime Fitness. They are patient with us disAbled people, not all gyms are. I've been a "Silver Sneaker's" member here since 2015 when my daughter and I left Minnesota. But again, only off and on. Until that is - the new owners, Wyatt and Marsha, rescued this "Anytime." It is no longer your ordinary, cookie-cutter gym. I now attend at least three times a week and am noticing improvements, and feeling the burn. Marsha always seems to be on hand to guide and help. She is fit and trim and a great example of what can be achieved. She leads individuals and groups in various fitness programs. She set me up with equipment to better my glutes, core, abs, pectorals and more. The place has never been so clean as it has been since their takeover. I am totally impressed with their love of the gym. Wyatt, her in shape husband, is fit and keeps the machines in good working order. They obviously live the life of health and fitness. Remember, "We don't stop playing because we get old. We get old because we stop playing," George Bernard Shaw. I am 66.

This is a great fitness facility. Very clean and the owner is so nice. I would definitely recommend…read moreto anyone that wants to get into a fitness routine there is plenty of equipment and weights. Absolutely love

5 STARS! The entry service set the tone. She was so friendly and accommodating! I forgot her name…read morebut she was from Plano, TX. The best! That's what you need to keep members. The workout was tough as always but this one was at the top. Probably a pre hell week workout. The Playlist was awesome and not too girly. The coach even cranked up the music louder than any other coach I've had in five years. I like my music loud and this hit the spot on such a hard workout. I was visiting from Texas and happy I made the visit. Enjoy!

My previous review complained about their policy of requiring a credit card to book a free class…read moreand my hesitance to do so. I decided on a workaround. I used a visa gift card to book my free class. And I really liked the class, they were actually doing 2 free classes at that point in time, so I liked both classes. After the second I signed up for their cheapest membership which was 4 classes/month at $59. Then they ran a thing called Hell Week, where you got a free t-shirt if you did X out of X workouts in a week, I think it was like 5 of 7. This required me to buy more classes, but I got sucked into the challenge. And it was hard, but it was good. So I bumped up to their next level, 8 classes/month for $100. So I was going about 2xs per week. I'm a 38 yr old guy who hasn't really consistently worked out since high school. I had to kind of ease into this and make sure it worked with my schedule. But the workouts worked for me. The coaches work for me. I like the motivation. I like just showing up and having someone tell me what to do. They always show modifications, and I've never had anyone make me feel weak for the size dumbell I pick up, or modified sit-ups because my back hurts. I've increased my stamina and endurance on the treadmills (when I tried running outside last summer I kept getting bad shin splints, the coaches helped me with how to work those out, but the short bursts on the treads mean I don't get the shin splints very often anyways.) I asked the Coach Theo a few weeks ago about signing up for a 5k, and he encouraged me to do so, said I'm running almost that far on the treads in a class, and that I could totally do it. So I signed up for the Reentry & Recovery Fresh Start 5k last weekend and I ended up finishing far before my goal, knowing I could have actually run a little faster, and I bewilderingly won a medal, 2nd place in my age/gender division. It was an amazing feeling. I'm feeling way more strong, fit, energized. I love that there is a kind of team mentality but that it's also about me and my goals and pushing myself and not about anyone else. It's a great way to clear my head and a great start to my day. I'm now signed up for the unlimited classes for the next 6 months and I'm going like 4-5 times per week. You do have to use one of their brand of heart monitors, there's an arm one, a chest strap that's a little cheaper, and I think they're coming out with one that communicates with the Apple Watch? You can borrow one for the free class, rent one if you want each class during the first month if you're checking it out, but it's more cost effective to buy one eventually. Because of the 30 day cancelation policy, basically anytime you decided you want to quit you'll still have to pay for 1 more month. And they also have like 10 class packs. They want you to come in and try the class and then they'll explain the contract stuff to you, but it's not super high pressure. The people are chill and cool. There's a transformation challenge thing coming up in January that involves photos and weigh-ins and cash prize for percentage of weight loss.
