I joined NDCF a couple of months ago & I couldn't be happier, or in better shape, after choosing to go with NDCF. I have arthritis in both of my shoulders. NDCF was the first gym / box that did not push me away because my mobility was limited or try to push towards a one-on-one personal trainer program that I just couldn't afford. Everyone at NDCF has been very understanding of my situation, kind, motivating & is determined to see me succeed in my goals; not theirs. All the coaches work with me to ensure that I can do the exercises / movements successfully, even if it is modified version, until I gain mobility and strength the necessary areas & joints. They do not push you to do anything that could hurt you. In just a couple of months I have lost 10 lbs., I know it's not much, but it is to me. My family, friend, & co-workers have even noticed a change in me. Not just the physical change, which they have noticed & they all like, but a mental change. My self-confidence has started to come back, I'm happier, & healthier. Thank you NDCF Family!!

I was very worried about feeling pressure to go too heavy or too fast, but instead I've gotten a lot of encouragement to go at my own pace and to focus on correct form. LeeAnn is especially caring and really looks out for her clients. She listens to you and puts a lot of thought and personalization into the individual sessions based on your needs and abilities. I trained at Crossfit Annandale for the summer, and I cannot say enough great things about my…read moreexperience there. I emailed every single xfit gym in the Annandale/Burke/Fairfax//Arlington area looking for a place to call home for the summer, and Crossfit Annandale was by far the most responsive, had the most reasonable rates, and seemed the friendliest in that initial email exchange. Once I got to the gym, the athletes were friendly, encouraging, and generally awesome. The coaching staff was incredibly knowledgeable, emphasizing good technique while also holding every athlete accountable for doing good work (read: leaving you gasping on the ground like a fish out of water when the wod was over). Sam, the owner, was at the gym basically every day, either coaching, or working out, or doing one thing or another to improve the facility (some days, I'd wager all three); he and his wife are so rad, and their attitude totally comes through in the way the gym is run. It feels like recess, it feels like home, it feels like it works! I had multiple PRs over the summer (bench press and double-unders, as well as strict pull-ups), and I'm certain that it's because I loved showing up to Crossfit Annandale everyday and just trying to kill every single workout. That's the kind of environment they've created at their gym, and I, along with every other athlete I saw there, left every single workout smiling. Go there. Work hard. Love fitness, and love Crossfit Annandale. They'll totally love you back.

I've definitely met a lot of people that really love it, which is great. Finding an activity you can stick with is the key! I'd have given more stars, but there are a few things that I wish were different: - It's loud. It's so, so, so loud. I wear earplugs, and even with the earplugs, my tinnitus is roaring after class. I basically flee the building as soon as I can. - Cramped. I wish there was more than 2-3 ft of space per person. People adjust sideway or move around to make it work, but it's weirdly cramped. The instructors are fine. Not much correction or assistance, IME. There's not any gym-chat (maybe partly because it's so loud it'd be very difficult to talk to others). Everyone I've been in classes with seem unwilling to interact. So, not a social/CrossFit-like option. If I could find a good weightlifting class anywhere else, I probably would give up going because of my sensory sensitivities, but for now, it's an okay option.
