Talk about a great workout! I had my reservations about CrossFit, mainly because I was afraid of bulking up or getting hurt, but CrossFit HYPE definitely put all of those concerns to rest. First and foremost, the trainers are amazing - Ben and Rob have clearly taken the time to really learn about CrossFit and fitness and nutrition in general, these guys definitely love what they do and practice what they preach. Not only do they thoroughly explain each movement and exercise, but they explain the importance of good form and make sure you have the form down before moving on to the WOD (workout of the day). From there, you bet they keep a good eye on you throughout the workout - making sure you are doing the movements properly and, most importantly for me, encouraging you to keep going. That's actually the whole mentality at HYPE - everyone is super supportive of each other, it's basically a no man (or woman) left behind mentality, everyone is cheering everyone else on and it makes you want to do your best.
As for any worries I had about lifting heavy weights or bulking up, Ben and Rob make it a point to explain each movement and then a scaled back version of each movement, so that you're still working out the same parts of your body but at a less difficult degree. They really take their time with each person to make sure that he or she knows what version of the movement they're doing and to make sure they have weights and/or equipment that is appropriate for their skill level.
Yes, the workouts are hard. Yes, you might feel like this is the hardest thing you've ever done, but I can promise you that at the end of the workout, you'll feel so good about yourself, you might just consider doing the WOD again (and then the endorphins will leave your body and you'll realize that's just crazy talk, but you'll be super proud of yourself nonetheless).
