This review is for the STX free boot camp that they have every Monday and Wednesday:…read more I wasn't ready. Mentally or physically for what went down Wednesday night. I'll try to keep it short. (Yeah right! Lol) Overall- such a GREAT workout, experience and Emily breeze is so awesome!!! The only thing that kept me from quitting..well two things kept me from quitting. Knowing that summer is coming and my booty isn't where it needs to be and sheer will power to just keep going. I almost quit. Like literally said to myself "I can't do this...I so can't do this". And I heard the small inner former athlete say "yes.you.can" so I took another step...one more push up...one more lunge...one more squat. It's a brutal workout. I think we did (well I did because I couldn't do them all) at least 200 squats. I'm sure others did more. I think about 50 or more (I dunno I think I blacked out after a while) push ups, so many sprints, a bear crawl, back pedals, omg...my body was quivering. My mental state was shot....until something clicked and I remembered "yes I can". Sure I didn't do 20 squats at each cone, but I tried to do 15. I just kept moving. Never standing and never cheating myself out of the movement. I push well past my comfort zone. Along with about 200 people. It's a good mix of fitness levels and a great sense of community. I met some great people. Strangers were encouraging each other. The group clapped for those who were coming in last to encourage them. Amazing. By the time we got to the burpee plank series I was spent. I'm glad that was last. The ONLY reason why I'm kicking off a star is because at the end a big muscle guy kick my foot while I was in a modified plank hold (my knees were on the ground and I would alternate left and then right knee) and said "is that your plank?" I said "yes. You don't know my story. You try having stomach surgery" and he walked off. What I SHOULD have said was "is that your face? Oh it is? Then yes. This is my plank" That made me mad and confirmed why I don't xfit. I was judged by my plank and he kicked my foot. So for that, I kick off a star. At least my plank will get better...your face?? *shrugs shoulders* I'm going to go back. I am so happy that I didn't quit. It's challenging and it will help push me past my level of comfort!!!

Man oh man! While on our year long travels around the US, we found this FREE bootcamp on Charlotte…read moreon the Cheap's site looking for things to do. When I saw that it was co-led by THE Randy Moss, I knew we had to go, being a huge Patriots fan. Since we have been traveling around the US, we have really only been running and getting SOME body weight work in. This class whooped our asses haha! For a class size of about 200 people, it was very well organized! Everyone got a great workout, I felt like I could go ROUGHLY at my own pace, and everyone was very encouraging. I'd like to say that it is an all-levels class, but it really isn't. You would probably be better off with some athletic background or at least average/above average fitness level to keep up. I would be back if I am in the area again! Feel free to follow our travels at www.tandaintheusofa.com! One thing to note, is they do charge $5 to park in their lot, which we did not know. We did see many other people parking on the street perpendicularly across the street.

Okay... so I may or may not be becoming a CrossFit drop-in junkie but... I dropped in at CrossFit…read more926 this weekend. And true to form within the CrossFit community, I absolutely loved it. I have been Instagram stalking them for a while now and finally had an opportunity to quit creepin and actually participate. No matter how many times you go to a gym or to a new place, you always feel like everyone stares at you when you first walk in. Well, maybe they are but each coach made a point come over and introduce themselves. I got a brief rundown of the facility and I was putting my bag away/getting water, more and more kept introducing themselves. Whether this is a one-off, or just the culture of 926, I was ridiculously impressed and immediately made to feel "at home." The workout I attended was a free community workout and it did not disappoint. Greatly programming but then also greatly coaching. I rarely do any overhead lifting. The coaches noticed some form issues and took time to coach me through without interfering with the overall workout. My... Absolute... Favorite... Kind... Of... Coaching. Because let's be honest, we are all competitive and who really wants to stop working out to talk? Even if you really should... Although, I am pretty positive they would have made me if I were doing something a little too crazy. The facility is AMAZING. Large, spacious, clean... AND IT SMELLS SO GOOD. Growing up and working in gymnastics facilities my entire life, I expect to smell feet, chalk and sweat in any workout facility I go into. Not here. I just wanted to lay on the ground and make turf-angels on the floor but I just met these people and couldn't show my crazy just yet. Get in on this ASAP as everything is new, bright and shiny. But really, it was the people that made it awesome. The location is spot-on too. Conveniently located off 73, but once you are inside "the gates" you almost feel like you are secluded and sectioned off from the rest of the world. Kind of ideal when you are trying to get into a certain "zone" to push yourself in your workout. I will definitely be adding CrossFit 926 to my circle of facilities to workout at.
