Root Company and along a branch of Route 18, Root 18 already displays its wit, humor and personality. The culture of encouragement and positive reinforcement sets Root 18 apart. It starts with the owners/trainers and attracts like-minded people, all of whom are welcoming from the get-go. The rotation of trainers and workouts offers a variety of teaching skills and styles which is engaging and challenging, mentally and physically. I often come straight from hours at a computer feeling sluggish and reluctant; I always leave energized. The trainers are watchful - making modifications as necessary, yet challenging us to our limits - safely. Safety is another significant difference at Root 18 CrossFit. I'm working my way back to fitness, so the proper balance of cheer and challenge is key. I think I've found my home.

Always providing modifications if you aren't doing something properly. They cheer you on, correct your form, and the energy and vibe is amazing since that energy and positivity transfers to us in class (all cheering each other on). With Covid precautions, there is no rotation stations. Youre assigned a station and watch your corresponding monitor to tell you what exercise you're doing... they've already set your station up with everything you'll need for that day's workout. M/W/F are more cardio based days (think jump squats, burpees, box jumps) and T/Th/Sun are more resistance / weight days. Saturday is a 60 min combo. Coaches (and everyone attending) are very thoughtful about their masks, it feels safe inside considering how far away you are from others.

Luckily I found someone in the parking lot to lead me to it. I never would have found it myself. The box is nice space with all the bells and whistles--Rogue equipment. Old-school style with a whiteboard on the wall to record your day's WOD performance. Great coaching and encouragement on technique. Great vibe here. Lots of ability levels ranging from super athletes to everyday folks getting in shape. Friendly people who will introduce themselves to you and get to know you.

The owners are amazingly supportive, and all the coaches are so great at taking the time to get to know you so that you push yourself past what you thought you were capable of achieving - but never, ever too hard. The best aspect of this gym, though, is the community.
