It's run by Michael, who has mastered the art of motivating without sounding like a drill sergeant. He genuinely wants to see his clients succeed, so whatever your goals are -- strength training, conditioning, Spartan runs, marathons -- he can tailor workout routines that will help you achieve them. People of all skill sets and body types work out alongside you, and no one has an ego -- EVERYONE is incredibly supportive of each other, and it will only take a few classes for you to feel like you're part of the family. Classes are set up using a reservation system, so there's no more than 8 people allowed in one time slot. This makes it easy for Michael to give you the individualized attention you need -- which is absolutely vital if you're new to weight lifting and need guidance on proper form. There's a set list that varies from day to day, week to week, so EVERY part of your body gets worked on. A membership averages out to less than $10 a class, so it's absolutely affordable. You just gotta come ready and willing to give it your all!

It is a great workout and he moves slow enough for everyone to follow. He works with each person one on one and then moves around the group. It is fun and a great workout. Plus the staff is really nice and they know me by name. That is pretty cool! They have beginner packages that are super affordable. To kick off their grand opening they offered free classes for the entire week. They offer personal training, boxing, yoga, trx, weight loss, and boot camp classes. The gym is very open and the public walking by can see everything that is going on inside. The thought of being a window display for mall walkers terrified me and almost made me turn around before walking in. I am glad I didn't though and gave it a try. The employees were friendly and our trainer teaching the TRX class was welcoming and made us all feel comfortable. After warming up I didn't even notice the people walking by and was too focused on the workout to pay attention to anything else. I am not a fan of going to group classes and often feel like I get a better workout by myself, but the small class sizes (12 people) didn't allow for any slacking off or feeling like you didn't know what was going on. Classes run $15 a class and I will definitely like to be put on display there again :)

Cleveland Sports Institute seems to be the umbrella organization for Parisi Speed School (a running…read more/ speed school) and Cuyahoga Crossfit. This is about Cuy Crossfit. The actual gym is amazing and I couldn't ask for more. They have a flat track along the side for the running school, along the other side are machines, pull up bars and in between is this plastic turf. At first I hated the turf, it hurt my hands and is very rough but along the way I realized that it provides great traction and cushion for many of the workouts. The trainers (I've gone through three of them in OnRamp) are all doing very well considering the OnRamp class sizes. They had a Groupon, so I'm not sure if this is indicitive of a regular OnRamp, just to throw that out there. They work on form, though not as much as the other two Crossfits that I've been to in the Cleveland area. There are always some people with poor form...and if I can see that they have poor form, that's pretty bad. Personally I've found them to be helpful and attentive though. There are a wide variety of workouts going over gymnastic moves, weight moves, etc., all in a training function. Overall, pretty happy with Cuy Crossfit.
