Today was my first day working out at the gym during this whole COVID time, so this review only…read morepertains to my experience today though I have been coming here for years. I saw on Facebook that they opened back up and did remodeling, so I was thrilled to get back to the gym! The whole interior has been freshly painted and re-carpeted, giving it a more updated look. Before my sister and I walked in the door, they took our temperature. I recommend wearing a mask when you walk in for curtesy and safety. Once it was all fine, we walked up to the check in desk. You scan your own ownership card on the reader instead of handing it to them like before. I personally feel like they should keep this up! Less spread of germs! You are still able to get a locker in the locker room, you just put the key in a basket once you're done so they can disinfect. The hot tub in the locker room was closed, as was they outdoor pool. They indoor community pools are open though! All of the equipment was separated 6-feet apart, which I appreciated! They turned all the workout rooms into rooms with extra equipment Incase you want privacy. The workout rooms require a mask on at all times. The "open gym" only requires masks on at designated time. So I was there from 12:30-2 and you didn't need to wear a mask during that time. However, 2pm started a mask-required hour. Guess it's just your preference as to which time to come! You are required to wipe down equipment after using it, and employees will say something if you don't. They do have a designated employee going around constantly wiping off equipment also! I was VERY impressed with how they're handling this pandemic, and I look forward to going back & continuing to support this business!

I was told I could join with Silver Sneakers, but when I showed up today, I was told "membership"…read morewould not be there all day and that I'd have to pay a $10 guest fee. If "membership" is not there at all during a weekday, then when is it? And I should have been told that before I made the hour and 10 minute round trip there. This place is only interested in ripping off people as other comments have pointed out. They are "abusive" and "disgusting" --and willing to shame themselves for just $10. As other comments confirm: do not give them your credit card as they will continue to use it fraudulently.

For a general-purpose fitness center, it's not bad. The selection of weights isn't great, but it…read moredoes have a few squat racks and a couple of deadlifting stations, which puts it above your typical fitness center. It also has a decent selection of pull-up bars, which is also unusual. (Most of these bars are actually intended for use with TRX rigs, but they still do the trick.) I have limited experience with their classes, but from what I've seen, they're basically just okay. Their so-called "high intensity interval training" or HIIT classes are really just plain circuit training. (Do a Google search if you'd like to learn what high intensity interval training really means.) They have a convenient indoor track, albeit smaller than advertised. (The signage says that eight laps in the outermost lane constitutes one mile, but according to my GPS watch, about nine laps are required.) As with many community centers, the patrons have poor track etiquette. You'll frequently find people playing or standing around on the track, blocking people's way. There are often people strolling slowly in the runners' lanes. On one instance, I even saw a staff member and her tour group blocking both of the runners' lanes as they stood around talking. On a positive note, this track does have more lanes than most other locations. So even though the track rules are poorly observed, there is more room to move around the offending parties. The track is also right beside some of the other fitness equipment, such as the rowers, the TRX rigs, and the kettlebells. This makes it easier to design a good track-based circuit workout. It would help if they had some heavier dumbbells near the track (the heaviest ones only go up to 30 lbs), but I guess you can't have everything. So while the amenities are limited in comparison to a more serious gym, and while the poor track etiquette is an annoyance, it's not bad overall.
