Personal training, fitness studio, fitness classes, an olympic size swimming pool, racket ball, karate for kids, water aerobics, a cafe' with beer that is served by the tap and fine wines to choose from and yummy food, I'm sure there is more, but this is what I rattled off at the top of my head. My membership that contains all these amenities costs me £35 a month. They have a strict cancellation policy in regards to their classes, if you don't cancel within a 24 hour period you get charged for the full price of the class and the spot that you reserved because people are breathing down the back of your neck to get the next slot and that penalty is £5.50 I believe but don't quote me. Service with a smile, I can't complain! The fitness instructors are also VERY easy on the eyes.

Most famous for being the home of the annual Cambridge Folk Festival, Cherry Hinton Hall is a…read morelovely park and often overlooked. It's especially good for toddlers, as it has a nice play area, a duck pond, lots of mature trees and squirrels, and in summer there are two paddling pools. When the weather is good, a very charming Italian gentleman rolls up in his equally vintage ice cream van, I remember him from when I was a kid myself! The Hall itself is now a school, but has some nice gardens around it which are good for picnicking. There's free parking and no entry fee. The toilets can be a bit gross in summer.

Plus points: long opening hours (though they don't always stick to closing times if you're a late bird), good range of machines and weights all on one level, hot showers, plenty of lockers and changing space. Pick the right times and the place is surprisingly poseur free, with more than enough machines and space for you to work your guts out without interruption. Low points: fairly disinterested staff imo (I know it's cheap membership and guess they are on peanuts but still), not all machines that look the same act the same (I think this is due to wear n tear, so tend to have a favoured machine for each exercise to be consistent). In peak hours there are a few fitness fanatics who make you feel like why bother. Music is a bit too loud, take an mp3 player if you don't like chart music.

Recommend a visit to see what classes are on offer here. There is also a bar with a snooker table and pool table. The tv in the bar is very sports orientated though!

I used the cardio machines, the pools, the sauna and steam room during my free trial. The pool was warm and clean, and was pretty quiet whenever I went there. The cardio machines were good, but some of the bikes didn't work properly which is annoying. I liked the changing areas and the showers, nice and warm and very clean throughout. I'd love to join, but £51 a month off-peak is too much for me at the moment.
