Crossed Paths was referred to me by an acquaintance who had a very positive experience. So I went to Brent to have my Marantz 2226 and a Technics SL230 turntable refurbished. The work he did was excellent and reasonably priced, I'm knocking off one star because of communication issues. Overall, he's not very responsive to emails and texts and he finished the restoration about 4 weeks later than he originally predicted. My experience is similar to everyone that's posted a negative comment: Exchanged initial pleasantries over the phone, received an invoice to restore my Pioneer receiver, packed and shipped, and then ... silence. After a number of queries regarding a status, I'd receive the typical short response (Sarcasm Intended): - I drank last year's milk and just woke up. - My socks were mismatched and could not function enough to drop the receiver off at UPS. - I couldn't put down my favorite Dr. Suess book, as it was too compelling. - The door locks were recently changed and I couldn't get out. - I was waiting to have my Unibrow plucked. - BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH and did I mention BLAH!!!! THE END RESULT: After speaking with the lovely detectives in Burleson, TX (who know him by name) I received my equipment back, which was never unpacked and was in the same box that it was initially shipped in. I would not recommend Cross Paths Vintage. I sent my Sansui G-9000 15 months ago for a $600 restoration. It did need a couple new output transistors and a little work, but was returned with very few capacitors replaced. While it was returned in good working condition, The amount of effort it took me to get the owner to respond was completely unacceptable, including showing pictures of all the text messages, other correspondence, and the threat of filing a police report. While the unit works perfect today, it has NOT been re-capped and it's not been restored for future longevity. read more

If I could offer a negative rating, I would do so. My experience with Brent Huskins and Crossed Paths Vintage echoes the other accounts already posted. While I was able to secure the return of my receiver, I succeeded only after about sixteen months and threatening to contact law enforcement. I have not received a refund for the $500 I paid for the promised renovation of my Pioneer. Indeed, upon my last request for a refund, Brent texted "We do NOT issue refunds once jobs are started. We will not be issuing any refund. Your unit has been returned at your request and our business is complete." I am still awaiting Brent's response to where this "policy" is stated and he has given me nothing to indicate that he started any work of any kind. I opened my unit immediately upon receiving it from Brent and can confirm that nothing has been touched since sending it to him in May 2023. I was seeking to get my Marantz Stereo Receiver re-capped. It stopped working and I wanted to do what is called a recap of the board where a service technician replaces all the components. I searched for someone for several weeks. I talked to other vendors. Most were backed up and said it would take them up to a year to start. I found Brent Huskins on Ebay, who said he could have the receiver back to me in about 3 months. I was going to purchase his services through Ebay but I wanted to talk to him to find out more about the extent of his re-cap service. I reached out to him and he called me directly. He mentioned he would take $50 off the price if I would just deal directly with him instead of going through Ebay. I should have known better but I did it anyway. I sent him money directly to his Square account and shipped my receiver to his house. On April 8th 2023 that will have been 2 years ago. I have texted him constantly and he keeps making excuses. It took six months and many threats to report him to finally get my receiver back, which was still in the original packaging I had packaged it in as nothing was done to it. He has no regard for any person whom he scams and just wants your money. There are many reviews here so I wont waste a lot of time other than to say my story is the same as the others, her took my stereo and my money. Shame on me for not doing a better job at due diligence. He shows a 5 star rating on Ebay and that is where I stopped checking. I have to now believe that those rating are bogus. He did a great job of making me comfortable and getting me to send him my stereo (A VERY expensive Yamaha CA-1000 from 1974) and to pay him $570.0 0 for initial repairs and refurbishment. eight months later, no communication, and no return of emails, Texts or calls for several months. Then just excuses, sick, very busy, ON VACATION! (really?). Anyway I filed complaints with the Johnson County Sheriff's, Texas Office of Consumer Protection, BBB, Federal Trade Commission and the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) of the FBI. Most of them have heard of this guy. I also got Legal Representation and started a law suit to get the stereo and my money back. When the Sheriff's Department started calling him, he actually sent my unit back to me. It was in the same box and packing that I had sent it out in. He had not even opened it in eight months even after telling me it was all fixed and he was getting ready to send it back (three months ago). Brent Huskins and his Crossed Paths Vintage is an outright scam and he does not tell the truth! I purchased his Pioneer SX-1250 restoration service on eBay for $700 in November 2021. He refunded the money and said it was because eBay required a 30-day turnaround time and he had supply chain problems getting repair parts in time, but if I sent my SX-1250 to him and payed him the $700 plus $75 return shipping he would repair it in 60 to 90 days. He had a 99.9% eBay rating at the time so it looked legit. I paid FedEx $250 to double box and ship with $4k insurance. I paid his new $775 invoice on line. Brent was right on top of it at first calling and texting me, but then I heard nothing for 90 days. Then I started to get worried. For 6 more months he strung it out, one excuse after another, he got Covid, then his staff did too but "He was going to do it right". Then he made a promise date to ship and missed that. After two more promise dates he missed he sent me a UPS Tracking number for his business that he can start a shipment with, but it was minus the last digits that are assigned when it actually is received at UPS. At that time I noticed Brent/Crossed Paths was not selling on eBay. He then said basically that's the UPS number so don't bother me again! UPS told me that it was only a partial tracking number for Brent/Crossed Paths but it won't be in their system until he drops it off or they pick it up and add the rest of the numbers. I am trying to put together a case against him with all the dates, excuses, etc. but he is 1,000 miles away so its difficult so far. I have photos of my SX-1250 bought new in 1977 including the Serial Number Plate on the back. Brent has stung me for $5000 in total damages. Today as I am looking to see if he is trying to sell my SX-1250 on eBay I noticed he is back on eBay saying he has 100% positive reviews!!! I would not even give Huskins one star but it's as low as it would go. Brent has used the internet, computer, computer programs, companies such as eBay and banking services across state lines to steal goods and money. Those of you that got your unit back are at least somewhat lucky even if it not not functional. If there is a way for many of us to aggregate our financial losses it would and should elevate to Federal Bureau of Investigation level. read more

******BUYER BEWARE******I sent my 1977 Pioneer SX-1050 to them in November of 2020 to get "re-capped" and one year later I still did not have it back and the owner kept giving me the run around so finally I contacted the Better Business Bureau and they contacted them and that was the only way I was able to get it back. And he did not replace the MAIN FILTER CAPACITORS which are the most expensive. I brought it to a local shop and they said the main filters were going bad and cut out at certain levels. I found Crossed Paths Vintage on EBay under restoration services. Saw that he had 100% positive feedback. I contacted Brent, the owner, on July 10, 2020 and after a lengthy conversation decided to send my two units to him the following day July 11, 2020. I sent him a NAD 7400 for complete restoration because the phono section quit working and it would shut off at times. The other unit just needed checked and cleaned. Well after exactly 2 years of waiting and dozens of texts and calls in between with no return conversation throughout those two years trying to get my stereos back, I had to text because he doesn't answer calls that I was coming to get them finished or not! Oh, now he answers a text, which I still have every text since the first day I have talked to him. He did answer a few at first and few every six months or more saying because of COVID he has been having issues with getting parts but locally I was having my crossovers done on my speakers with no issues in finding parts! His social skills are not up to par nor is his repairs. He texted and said it was ready so my wife and I drove to get them 4 1/2 hours away on July 1, 2022, not to his business, but to his house. And we did business with him in his driveway out of the back of his SUV. I asked him if he could show me what he did, which he said he didn't have anything to opened them up so he said he could tell me. My wife recorded the whole conversation of Brent talking about rebuilding this and that without he or I knowing. I paid $500 for nothing but I wanted them back and knowing I had someone 15 minutes from my house that I found out about after reading these complaints on Yelp about Cross Paths Vintage that they sent their stereos to after their bad luck with Brent. And after talking to this other guy that is 15 minutes from my house he has had 10 stereos brought to him in the last year that Brent did not fix. I plan on contacting the TX AG and seeing what can be done to get my money back because this guy Brent has screwed a lot of people over the last couple of years, So Beware! P.S. - After I got home I looked inside and none of the caps had been touched, nothing! I hooked it up and the phono did not work and it still cut off after 10-15 minutes. The order was cancelled and then I got a message from Brent that he really didn't want to go through eBay and that it would be better for both of us if I just dealt with him directly. I Entered into a contract with Brent Huskins of Crossed Paths Vintage to totally renovate my SX-1010 Pioneer receiver on 04/15/2022 for the up-front amount of $600.00 plus $75.00 return shipping. Told it would take about 3 months to complete. I inquired on status on 06/20/2022 and told he had started and stated "smooth sailing so far". Inquired status on 08/04/2022. told awaiting parts. After this date he no longer responded to my phone calls. On 10/06/2022 texted for an update, told still awaiting parts. On 11/08/2022 inquired again on status told still awaiting parts. On 12/22/2022 told him I would be ok with him reusing the old parts if they met specifications. He informed me he "ended up in the ER and had to have some unexpected surgery and a lengthy hospital stay". On 01/30/2023 inquired again on the status of my receiver. On 02/02/2023 told he was getting caught up and should have my receiver "shipped in the next 30 days". On 04/05/2023 INQUIRED AGAIN on the status and told hom to let me know if there would any additional shipping charges. NO ANSWER. At this time, I did a little research and discovered NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS against CROSS PATHS VINTAGE and Brent Huskins. Now knowing I had very little hope of him sending back my receiver I proposed another business transaction (knowing his greed) to work on another receiver that I had. So, on 04/20/2023 I texted him I was planning on making a road trip (1200 miles) in May to pick up my receiver and drop off my other one for repair. On May 21 arrived in Burleson, TX and texted him that night to make arrangements for pickup. He would only meet me someplace other than his home or so-called place of business (his business address is only a fictitious storefront). I told him I don't do business that way. On the following morning May 22,2023, I went to the Burleson Police Department to ask for assistance. Not only did the Officer assist me but he gave Brent Huskins an ultimatum, to bring my receiver to the Burleson PD parking lot or face charges for theft and fraud. I rec'd my receiver that morning. He showed me the inside the receiver and it did look clean. I asked him about the $75.00 for return shipping and all he said was "So sue me". When I got it home it was evident that he did not do the complete restoration. The phono will only play in mono, stereo only has one channel, and switches still stick. I waited this long to make a statement because I wanted to decompress so I could be as objective as I could. I purchased a restoration service on Ebay, from the owner, Brent Huskins on Dec 22, 2020 for my Sansui G9000 for $600. After patiently waiting for 2 months, I called him, and he blamed the delay on the Ice Storms. I believed him. After a few more months, he said that he couldn't get the the parts. This went on for a few more months. Like a moron, I believed him. Then he told me the parts were "stuck in customs". Finally, he stopped answering my calls and emails. So, I went to Ebay. They told me that because I didn't file a complaint within 30 days, that I was "Shit out of luck" (my words, not theirs). I've been going back and forth with Ebay for about 2 months. They WILL NOT even contact Brent. I think that Ebay is in on the scam. They won't let you leave negative feedback. A few hours ago, I emailed them and said that if I didn't receive a refund, that I'd seek legal counsel. There are many of you out there that have been "scammed" by a combination of Crossed Path Vintage / Ebay. Let's try to get together. I sent Brent of Crossed Paths Vintage my Sansui 9090 receiver January 2, 2021 and have yet to receive it. I have had to send numerous emails to Brent asking for a status update before I received one. The last update I received from Brent was on September 2, 2021 stating that he would try and have it returned to me by end of month. I still haven't received it nor any update of its status. I have been very patient with him regarding my unit mainly because of the COVID. January 2, 2022 it will be a year. Since you have to pay in advance for this restoration and the fact that they advertise a "Quick Turnaround" for restoration I am sending out another email to Brent asking when will I receive my Unit. What bothers me most about this is the fact that their is no "Communication" from Brent in regards to status unless you ask for it. When you do ask for an update status it takes two or three emails before he responds. I have called on occasion and left a message but know response. If I had to do this over again I would not commission Crossed Paths to restore my unit. I read the review by Dave S and I am totally in agreement with him.
