The restrooms are kept clean, and there is ample parking, even on the weekend. This is a great place to get some fresh air, whether solo or with family and friends, and enjoy the beauty of nature!

A central feature is the park's paved jogging trails, which includes a model airplane flying center, and the city's recycling center and even a dog park, at the extreme end of the system. The city's Police Department features great officers who can help via 911 Phone Calls, 24/7. Fortunately for the residents who live close by, response times are prioritized by the severity of the situation and the need for urgent assistance. Denton, Texas is going to grow with respect to the Dallas, Fort Worth, and Arlington area by virtue of the local attractions offered to the voting public's attention to the very positive thing that green spaces offer to the people. North Shore Trail has become one of my fave places to escape for a few hours. It was my first trek…read moreon these trails, and even though I'm used to climbing mountains when I hike, navigating a hilly terrain full of rocks and tree roots was its own kind of challenge. It definitely keeps you on your toes in a different way. I love how the trail winds through the trees, opens up to peaceful lake views, and gives you just enough difficulty to make the scenery feel earned. I usually start near Murrell Park, and that stretch has some of the prettiest spots. Lots of quiet coves, shaded paths and little pockets where you can stop and just listen to the water. You'll see plenty of wildlife, too. I've run into deer more than once. The trail can get rocky and narrow in places especially with mountain bikers flying through, so staying alert is a must. It will definitely keep you engaged instead of just strolling on autopilot. What I appreciate most is how peaceful the hike feels even when others are out enjoying the trail. North Shore Trail always delivers a sense of calm and connection to nature.

Plus the well maintained trails and good amount of parking along the trails, this is a great spot if you're looking to get into nature without having to go too far. As a hiker, there are a lot of bikers along the path, so don't use headphones or you could get hit. Even when it's crowded with bikers, everyone shares the path well.

I was so happy and wanted to do it immediately. (but had to wait for good weather) Today was gorgeous out, almost 80 so I decided to go for it. The ride is not short, but safe, goes through playgrounds, soccer fields, under highways, it's a fun ride. It has many routes that I will explore in the future. Can't wait to do so! :D

Grateful for having the chance to bike the whole distance to and around the lake and back, and it is totally clean and safe the whole way. I love that it features parks the whole way down... a solid choice if you're looking to bike with family or in general and don't want to be on the street amongst the crazy drivers!

This is an expansive, beautiful park. There are baseball fields, soccer fields, football fields,…read moretwo playgrounds, fishing ponds, and trails. We have not had a chance to walk the trails yet, so I will have to update my review once we do. In regards to the playgrounds, one is a small little structure near the baseball fields and the other is a large, spread out structure that can be accessed through the second entrance into the park (NOT S Field Dr.). The playground has a small fence that runs nearly fully around it, with openings for entering and exiting. There is plenty to do, including lots of "spinney things" that my kids love. The design of the structure itself is top notch. Bark bottom. Benches are situated within the fence, circling the playground or parents can sit under the covered pavilion behind the playground. The park is beautiful and the playground is fun, but there are two negatives: 1. Lack of shade 2. Bathrooms far away from playground The play structure has limited shade covering the slide areas, which probably help to keep the equipment from getting burning hot, but there is no shade otherwise. I hope the trees they planted around the playground will grow into massive shade trees, but for now they aren't doing a thing. The bathroom is far from the playground. It's a long walk for little legs, and some parents might not feel comfortable leaving their little kids on the playground for a quick run to the bathroom, because it's not really that quick. Also, when I went, there were allllllll kinds of cicadas in the bathroom: swimming in the toilet and crawling all over the sinks. LOTS. I haven't lived in Texas long and am new to Cicadas, so I can't say if this is a sign of poor sanitation or just par for the course, but I thought it was worth noting.
