Highly recommend! Cross was on time, and offered a relaxing tour of Marco. It was my wife and two you kids. We did end up finishing at the Goodlands Marina and they immediately returned us to our hotel. Would absolutely hire again. read more

Had a wonderful afternoon cruise with Captain Hugh, his son Noah and daughter Jacqueline. They were very attentive to our comfort and needs. The captain gave us a little history of the area and we cruised along the coastline searching for dolphin. He had a lot of great stories and his children were wonderful. What a wonderful sailing trip this was! Family run business on a beautiful catamaran. 2 1/2 hour tour of the southern part of Marco Island. Saw plenty of dolphin throughout the morning and world-class shelling on one of the 10,000 Islands. The captain provided wonderful stories and narratives along the way accompanied by the perfect blend of Jimmy Buffett/reggae music.$60 per person was extremely reasonable. We wanted to go for a sunset sail and found these guys last minute. They were fantastic! First, the boat was immaculate, they were very attentive to comfort and safety, and most important, they actually SAILED the boat. In so many of these cruises they put the sails up but keep the engine on. We had a lovely evening breeze and sailed up along the coast of Marco and a gorgeous pink settled over the island. I wasn't using Yelp last year when I took a charter boat tour with Cross Cruises, so this review is a year delayed, but I remember the details of this horrible experience clearly. In short, DO NOT TAKE A TRIP WITH CAPTAIN CROSS!!!! We were a group of two adults, a 10 year old and an 18-month old baby. We called to make a reservation and were told we would be picked up on the beach at our resort. This was fine, although I don't care for battling the waves to get on the boat especially having had a baby in my arms. I asked for a life vest for my baby and I was told he has one "in case of an emergency." I should have gotten off the boat at this point, but decided to continue on and I will say that the boat ride was lovely, stopping to go shelling and enjoying the ride. He provided water only for refreshments. After the shelling portion I noticed that we were heading in the opposite direction of our resort. When we asked about this, he said we were his last charter of the day and we were heading to his marina in Isle of Capri (several miles from our Marco Island resort) rather than back to our resort. When asked how we would get back to the resort, he said he would drive us in his "limo." Please keep in mind since we were picked up at the resort, we came on the boat without shoes, without clothes (we were all just in bathing suits with a towel). I asked about a carseat in his "limo" and he said it wasn't a limo, but his truck, no carseat, but "it's okay if she's not in a carseat, she can just ride on your lap, it's safe." At this point, we asked to go back to the resort and he said that he couldn't turn around. I asked him for the location of his marina so that my father would pick us up, in a car with a carseat, and he refused to give us the location. We asked him repeatedly and ignored us for the remaining 20 minutes of the ride. All the while, he was calling his wife to bring a carseat from his house because "these people need a carseat." He was openly complaining to his wife, if she was even on the phone, that we were complaining about the circumstances! In any case, we arrived at his marina. We were told that he personally had to return us to the resort, that he was obligated, etc and I refused because of the safety issues (amongst other things...being misled about drop off, etc). He said it would be about an hour to get a carseat from his home. My 10 year old nephew searched around the marina, barefoot in the scorching heat, to find an address and finally, my father came to rescue us from this nightmare. This summer we used Off the Hook Adventures. They were awesome. Read my review! And no shocker here, my now 2 year old daughter was "required" to wear a life vest, which this year, we had actually brought our own, but of course it would have been provided and required. read more

Captain did not take safety first approach and used extremely poor judgement when he asked families to tread 6 foot waves with women and children holding bags of shells and belongings trying to board a boat 50 feet off shore, ridiculous. Find a tour that cares just as much about safety as they do collecting payment. Overall experience was not worth the risk. read more

I've taken many cruises with Captain Huge and his sweet family over the years. This time I had my children and grandchildren in town with me. My grandchildren are 3, 2 and 1. He quickly turned his vessel into a pirate ship for my two grandsons, which they LOVED!!!! His sons, Noah and Harrison were absolutely wonderful with all of us...especially the children. The morning of our cruise, they watched the weather VERY closely for us to determine the best time to go out. They were dead-on with the timing. He suggested, since the seas were so choppy that we not go out into the gulf and by the looks of the water....he absolutely made the correct call. We sailed around in the 10,000 islands and then went shelling. He got us as close to shore as he safely could. Then Noah helped us all into the water and Harrison helped get us all to shore and even carried the children himself. He stayed on shore with us, helping us find some of the more rare and beautiful shells. My oldest grandson stayed with him the entire time which was just adorable. That kind of attentiveness can't be faked!!! Those boys are truly that kind. When we got back on board, Captain Huge wanted to try and make sure we saw as much sea life as possible. He took us into a little cove...even though it meant going over his allotted time. I know he can't do this in all instances because he has back to back cruises booked but we certainly appreciated him taking the time for my grandchildren. We ended up seeing so many dolphin and manitee. What beautiful sites to behold. One dolphin came up right beside the boat and swam with us and we could hear him blowing as he came up out of the water. My oldest grandson was going nuts!!!!! I've never seen this many manatee before. Thank you for all your safety precautions. Thank you Captain Huge for treating us like family. Thanks to your dear wife for making all our arrangements. Thanks to your sons for being such outstanding young men. You made this trip so memorable for all of us!!!! You will be seeing me again very soon. read more

My fiance and I took a spontaneous trip to Marco Island because we wanted to see the domes of Cape Romano. We needed a boat to get there. Marco Island's Hilton concierge recommended Cross Cruises. For $60 each, we enjoyed and amazing ride to Cape Romano, saw wild dolphins and manatees, and met fun people. Captain Cross plays nice music, provides chilled water bottles, is knowledgeable about the area, and his kids are helpful skippers. Highly recommended adventure. Absolutely beautiful. read more

I wish I had read the previous review before we booked our "sail." We had reservations for an afternoon cruise. The morning looked cloudy, and it had been raining so we called to try to change it to the next day. He assured us it would clear off and be a great day for a sail. We arranged to meet him behind a resort. We (four sixty year old ladies) had not been told we would have to wade out into the water (almost waist deep) and climb up on the boat. We were not dressed in our swimsuits... Now maybe we should have asked him how we were to get on the boat.....I'm not sure, but I had been sailing numerous times before and had always gotten on the boat from a dock. That's what you get for assuming. Once on the boat, we started off. I was a little surprised none of us were even told where the life jackets were, but since we were on a catamaran with an experienced sailor, I put my concerns aside. We motored up the gulf. I noticed the wind...it seemed light and variable, but enough for some sailing. I thought for sure he would sail once we got out a ways. Well, we NEVER DID SAIL...we motored around looking at the houses on the island....Hmmm. Something we could have done in our car. I was so disappointed. Since I was the only one of the four of us that had sailed before, I was upset that none of my friends got to experience sailing. We were dropped off at a dock and driven back to our car by the captain in his economy rental car. This sail was a waste of time and money. I'll have my friends come sailing with me in central Illinois since we were unable to do it in Florida. read more

Had a wonderful time. Hugh Cross and his son were great. There were two of us on the ride, and we hesitated at first on whether or not we wanted to go, but decided to do it. I'm glad we did. We lucked out being the only two people on boat. Great sightseeing and a chance to see some different scenery nearby Marco Island. Cross Cruises is very local to Marco Island and convenient. Huge was very informative answering many questions about the local area, points of interest, geography and general information. I recommend him to anyone who would like to try something different. read more
