Lots of local traffic popping in for coffee and cakes, especially lots of cyclists so it can be difficult to get a seat. I've picked up take away cake from here before for friends and its went down well. There is usually one gluten free cake option. This time we visited just for coffee which was good. Order at the till, pay and staff will bring to your table. They also have a licence do organic wines available as well as innis and gunn on draft. Good addition to Kilmacolm and worth checking out.

The weather wasn't the best so I found it a little stressful but we found our way there in the end! I think the easiest way to get there is via Paisley/Bridge of Weir but if you like a long drive, you could go via Port Glasgow (ahem). I'd never been to Quarrier's Village before and was keen to get out and explore after lunch but with the rain, didn't have a chance. Quarrier's is like something out of a movie, lots of open, grassy green space and cute houses. It's a really delightful area. Three Sisters Bake is easy to find at the end of Faith Avenue and is one of the most magical cafés I've stepped into in a long time. I was there for the food, but I think the decor won me over just as much. I love the bright colours and attention to detail - this is a real wonderland, the kind of place you only see on wedding blogs and Pinterest. Onto the food. We were there for a long time, so ordered loads of food - the seafood platter to share for starter, and then I had the gourmet cheese on toast. With a heavenly mackerel pate and some seriously juice prawns with chilli and coriander this was a great way to start off a long lunch and made a good size starter between two. There was also some really soft and smooth smoked salmon on the board which I scoffed up while Graeme wasn't looking. The cheese on toast was way more fancy than I'd expected and came with a smothering of rocket - probably one of my favourite green things, so I was well chuffed. There was also leek hiding under the mature cheddar which definitely upped the age limit of this cheese on toast. For desserts we had a look at the cake counter but as I don't have much of a sweet tooth, I initially wasn't fussed. That was until I overheard the waitress delivering coconut and lime tart to the table behind me. I love coconut and lime! I tried to order it but that was actually part of their wedding tasting menu, not a dessert they were serving that day. But the delightful waitress went to check, and got a slice just for me - what a gem! Service was impeccable, friendly and warm and you can tell they all know a lot about the menu and that all the food is freshly prepared. I'm not sure I've managed to do Three Sisters Bake justice, but one thing I do know for sure - if you haven't been, you really need to go!

We were…read moresuper early to tour the nearby Dumbarton Castle so we wandered down the street and stumbled onto this little shop to have a second breakfast. It's a fast food shop where you can grab a simple meal, a quick snack or a cup of coffee. Plenty of the locals were picking up breakfasts while we were there. I had the hot roll with sausage (only 1.30 pounds!) and even had a choice of soft or crisp roll. The shop is run by a very nice lady, but she handles the orders, cooking and payments on her own. Don't think it would ever get too crowded, but be patient and don't rush her!

There is a café at the back of this deli and you can get a decent cup of proper Italian coffee and watch the big screen TV mounted on the wall. The staff are really friendly but unfortunately as Pieri's is quite expensive I don't get to pop in as often as I'd like. My budget can usually only stretch to Billy Bear Ham from Asda but next time I am feeling flush I shall certainly be treating myself to some fancy smancy ham from the lovely people at Pieri's!

It seems family run, with the mom in the kitchen, and at least one of the waitresses a daughter. They have gluten free bread, so I had options for sandwiches, though I was tempted by their soup and salad offerings. It was a busy Saturday, and it took them a while to get around to our table, but then the food was quick in arriving. My sandwich was tasty and I gobbled it up, while my husband ate both our coleslaw portions and said they were delicious, and his burger which he enjoyed. Their desserts look decadent, but none were gf so I didn't even have the choice. They have a local ice cream, but it was a cold day and I couldn't picture myself enjoying it so I opted to forgo the sugar. I would certainly return, though it seems unlikely I will. This town is cute, but we were passing through.

I have been visiting here for a number of years, and will continue to do so. I love the chilled out…read moreatmosphere and maturity of the clientele. The locality is also superb, beautiful scenery all around. Over the years this place has being able to attract so many people that now it is advisable to pre book a table at night to avoid long waits. The staff are great, each morning I get a great Costa coffee without even having to tell them how I like it.
