Although this place is called a café I have to say the café section is the least interesting part! The shop is divided into two sections. The upper mezzanine area is the café which is your fairly bog standard, "milk and two sugars please Vera" kind of café. The lower level is a sort of newsagents come confectioners hybrid. You can buy really rubbish greetings cards as well as newspapers and magazines. There is also your usual newsagent's sweetie selection such as chewing gum, Mars bars, Dairy Milk etc. However what makes this café/newsagents/confectioners review worthy is the old fashioned, rots the teeth right out your face sweeties! I'm talking Iru Bru Bars, Gob Stoppers, Sugar Mice, Drumsticks, Love Hearts; feeling nostalgic yet? You can also get a quarter of Kola Kubes, Pink Shrimps, Pear Drops, Astro Belts and many more in a little paper poke. How very retro! The Cross Café makes me feel about 10 years old again. The latest issue of Girl Talk please and a quarter poke of Strawberry Bonbons! read more
