Awesome bar! Fully stocked with everything including lunch options!

Last weekend I went to Cronins "for a guys trip golf tournament". I was the only female and I'm the best golfer (I'm a professional golfer) of the group of 22 of us. I was a little nervous about being welcomed...but boy was I wrong. From the moment we walked into the bar/clubhouse, everyone couldn't be nicer! One of the owners, James, went out of his way to find us a cabin that was close to our group of friends, but far enough away so that I didn't infringe on the boys. James gave us the key to the Luna cottage #13 and it was great. Remodeled, upgraded bathroom, small kitchen and queen size bed, perfect location right across from the 18th green! We had our own golf cart for the weekend we parked right outside the front door with our clubs on it all day long. Every cabin/cottage has a fire pit, and the one we used was backed up to the 17th fairway and that was grand central station for the other 20 guys. The bar inside the clubhouse was awesome!! We definitely spent a lot of money in there having a great time!! It's fully stocked with everything!! The other owner, John, manages the restaurant/bar and he couldn't have been nicer!! There was a ziti dish they put out for all to enjoy on Friday night. Saturday morning before the shotgun tournament at 9am we had breakfast sandwiches and hash browns. Yum! There were hamburgers and hot dogs and sides for lunch during and after golf and for dinner, we had prime rib, baked potato and corn on the cob outside on the back deck! All the food was cooked in house and excellent!! The drinks were excellent too!! The owners took the time to talk to everyone and even take care of those that maybe partook too much!! We played 16 holes of golf on Friday after we got settled in our cottage. Our friends were all over the golf course so we had a friendly match against them for 14 holes. The course was in very good shape. Greens not super fast. But not slow either. The layout was plenty challenging. Some long holes, some short holes, awesome views. I really enjoyed it...again, I am a professional golfer. The halfway house is perfectly positioned so that you pass by it often to help quench your thirst! I really enjoyed the golf course! We checked out the pool area which was nice... it was just a little too chilly outside to use. The range was small but right along the Hudson. Lots of cabin/cottage options to stay overnight or for the weekend. James and John Cronin were awesome! I'm soooo glad I ended up going. It was truly a weekend to remember and I will definitely be back again!!

Located next to the Schroon river in Warrensburg. Beautiful and relaxing views.

Beautiful course, reasonably priced, relaxed atmosphere. I'm a (very) novice golfer, so I won't really be able to compare this place to many others. However, I can tell you why I liked the course and why we'll be coming back here when we're in the area again: The price point is good. Green fees for two with a cart = $40 each. Not bad, especially with how well-maitained the grounds were. They have a practice tee (real grass) you can use to warm up with first. I especially appreciated that. The staff were really friendly and very helpful. At a few points, I couldn't tell if we were talking to staff members or really friendly regulars. Doesn't matter - whoever we talked to was just really nice. When I came in to use the restroom at the 9th hole, they asked us how things were going. The course was very quiet when we went (Thurs around 10 AM), and the rest of the people who were playing were easy going and friendly. No rushing or pushing, which I can't stand. The course itself is not terribly difficult, but challenging enough to make it worthwhile to come back (it actually seems to get more challenging the better you get, with the placement of hazards, etc). It was fun to play for me (I'm terrible) and fun for my boyfriend (he's pretty good). The setting is beautiful, sitting right next to the Schroon river. They also have a good selection of beer available and the prices were reasonable. I got an orange slice with my Blue Moon at the 11th hole snack/beverage stand. We'll be back for sure.

Great hidden gem of a golf course right on the Hudson River. Definitely will be making this part of our annual trip to lake George.

Service: One server for our party, she was nice but a little oddly for a server she didn't know what ginger ale was and wasn't sure if they had decaf. Our food came out with a pretty big gap between plates, I was finished with mine by the time another in our party got hers. I will say they were very gracious seeing as we were a half hour late. Food: Pretty underwhelming, you could get similar or better food at your local diner. Menu is somewhat limited as well especially for sides and drinks. I got the french toast, it wasn't very moist at all, uninteresting flavor, the strawberry garnish was dried up on the inside so must have been left out for a while, bacon was fine, maple syrup was good. I had a few bites of the omelette which was good and home fries which were on the dry side and without much flavor. Value: It wasn't too expensive thankfully despite being marketed as a 'fine dining experience' I'd say value was about even with the low quality food, french toast was $11. Overall definitely would not recommend, you could get better food at a diner or cafe.

Pricing for accommodations is per person and includes one ride per person per day as well as 3 meals a day and all of the non horse activities on-site. If what's on-site wasn't enough to fill your time, the ranch is about a 20 minutes drive from Lake George as well as hiking. Gorgeous setting - the property is nestled along the banks of the Hudson River and the shadows of the Adirondacks. The stables and paddocks lay on side of the road under the shadows of the mountain. The accommodations, saloon, dining hall, basketball court, horse show pits, pools, beach, kayak launch and main office are on the Hudson River side. Our room had recently been renovated as the smell of newly hewn pine would attest to. The country cabin vibe was clean and the bed/ pillows were very comfortable. It also had a mini fridge, cable, WiFi and flat screen TV. It has a cute little porch attached with seating out front for 4 to watch your kids or just enjoy the view and sounds of nature. Meals are: 9a Breakfast 1p Lunch 6:30p Dinner We were there for 2 dinners, 2 breakfasts and a lunch. The food was great! Soda bar is available for refills as well pitchers of water and juice for breakfast and of course coffee and tea. * I'm not sure how it works for kids, I'm sure the Chef would work with you to get something they would like as he asked us. TIP: Bring snacks and additional drinks and keep in your in room fridge if you need. There's some gas stations and convenience stores in Lake George you can pick up some things of you feel like you or your group may need more. The stables are fine enough. There are helmets available, we brought our own. The horses are kept herd style and are grouped mainly in one big pasture. They bring in just the horses they need and switch them out as needed. The hands have the horses tacked and waiting for you, so make sure you come on time or even a bit early. TIP: The larger the group the more time wasted getting everyone on a horse and it'll start eating into your ride time. The first ride - NO MATTER WHAT BOX YOU CHECKED- is an assessment to see where you're riding skills and horsemanship are at. They try to find you a horse suitable based on what you rated your skill level and observe your riding up and down slight hills and the trails in general at a walk and trot. After that ride, the barn manager will let you know what types of rides they feel comfortable you can do next. There is a lead guide and another hand in the rear of the group. - A fast ride- which is the same as the first ride with loping/cantering and more aggressive steeper hills. If you want more rides - for an additional fee you can take lessons, work cattle, take a several hour trail ride or even cross the Hudson and trail ride more! The horses used for trail riding are atleast shod in the front if not all 4. With the rockiness, brush, hills and sticks it's important to keep their feet healthy. We got there extra early and they allowed us to brush our horses and assist them in tacking them as well. Obviously, this is only possible when there isn't a lot of other guests otherwise you could just be in the way. Everyone in the stables was knowledgeable of our horses personal quirks and how best to communicate to them..this horse listens better to neck rein vs plow rein or leg pressure vs reins. Shout out to Baby and Black Jack! We had a total of 3 rides - the assessment, a fast ride and a longer fast ride and used the same horses as we seemed to fit well with their personalities. But, if you wanted to try a different horse let them know - they would do their best to accommodate. You get one ride per nights stay per person, if you want more tell the barn manager and they will tell you what time and you would just pay the front desk. The owner is on premises the entire time. Staff everywhere were friendly, asked how our stay was going and if they could do anything to make it better...and on my birthday at dinner they had gotten me some pretty flowers, card signed by all the ranch team and even a piece of gluten free cake!!! SUPER thoughtful, sweet and made my day! The current owner has had the property for a year and has been working on improvements. The pools outside and some of the rooms/cabins are going through renovations currently. The indoor pool area was ok, we couldn't find the lights, but there was enough natural light from the windows to see.. but the hot tub was more like a Luke warm tub so hopefully that's on the list soon to update.

The room had two king beds, a small miracle for a man accustomed to one, and the soundproofing was a triumph of human engineering. Even with Oktoberfest raging below, once the balcony door was closed the silence was so complete that I could almost hear my own thoughts apologizing for existing. The hotel sits right on Canada Street, which is the main artery of Lake George's little heart. Shepard Park is practically across the street, full of families, music, and the particular chaos of people on vacation trying to have a perfect time. The staff managed to stay cheerful through it all, smiling with the kind of sincerity that must come from good training or good souls. Parking was a game of Tetris, but I was grateful for the garage. Once my car was wedged in, I had no reason to drive again. Everything that mattered was within walking distance. The rooftop terrace deserves a poem, though I am too lazy to write one. The lake spread out below, blue and calm, and for a few minutes I believed in peace on earth. There is no hot tub, which feels like a crime against nature. The patio outside the pool almost begs for one. Imagine sitting there in January, snow falling into the water, steam rising like forgiveness. The restaurant did not thrill me, and the prices made my wallet flinch. Still, it was a fine stay, the kind that makes you feel momentarily better about the human race before the bill arrives to remind you of reality. Four stars. A lovely place, too expensive for what it is, but worth remembering all the same.
