My family of 5 stayed at the Lake Motel in Lake George, NY for the first time on June 12-15, and it won't be the last! First of all, you can't beat the location. Lake Motel is right on the lake, with unobstructed views of the majestic waters of Lake George. The owner, Steve, has taken full advantage of this by building a deck fully equipped with 3 grills plus a Blackstone flat top grill, ample seating areas by way of picnic tables and fire pits surrounded with comfortable Adirondack chairs. My family grilled burgers on our last night, and made s'mores over the fire pits the night before. There is also a 2-storey dock with even more intimate seating areas where one can enjoy coffee, a cold cocktail, or simply read a book or stare out into the tranquil, clean waters of Lake George. My girls enjoyed looking at the lake from this vantage point. Kayaks, paddle boards and a raft are available to guests, free of charge! We are by no means water sports athletes or experts but believe me when I say we all went on the kayaks and didn't come back until 2 hours after! The lake and mountains compelled us to stay there as long as we could, and we had never felt more connected to nature as we did then. The motel is right in the village as well, so throughout the duration of our stay, we did not find a reason to drive the car out of its parking spot. Everyday, we walked to the village, explored it, and made our choice of where to eat, which was plentiful, by the way! The heated outdoor pool was a clear winner with all my 3 kids. I feel like I have to say that the pool REALLY was heated to 83F, because so many hotels claim their pools are heated, but you realize it's a white lie once you take a dip in the pool. Lake Motel clearly believes in truth in advertising because my kids stayed in that pool for hours in sub-75F weather. I would be doing the owners and staff an injustice if I didn't mention in this review that the place was immaculately CLEAN. I am not a high maintenance person and do not need to stay in high end, expensive hotels, BUT I am a neat freak and will NOT stay in a hotel that has less than stellar reviews on cleanliness. It's actually cleanliness and location that are my top considerations on where to stay, and Lake Motel gets excellent ratings on both. Last but not the least, the owners and staff, particularly Steve and Jorgina, are the humblest, most unassuming, helpful, accommodating, friendly, hardworking people I have ever met. There is a lot of pride and dignity in their work, and their hospitality is one that I will never forget. We had the most fun, happy, relaxing time that we have decided as a family to make this an annual tradition, coming back every year in June. Steve, Jorgina and everyone in the Lake Motel family -- thank you for everything. It was the best family vacation we have had in many years. See you again soon!

I was pleasantly surprised with this place . The outside looks very unassuming but the rooms were updated and clean , alittle small but we didn't spend much time in them . The staff were all very friendly. The pool was small but clean and clear , the dock was in great condition no broken boards or worn out paint . Lots of kayaks and stand up paddle boards to use (included in your stay) multiple fire pits and lots of lounge chairs and regular chairs to sit and enjoy the pool or lake . Small swim area with steps in , nice clean sandy bottom . The parking lot is the only issue in my opinion it is very narrow so if you have a bigger suv or truck like myself it'll be a tight squeeze but it was doable. I would definitely stay again .

We stayed here for one night and really enjoyed the location. The pool was perfect and we had a terrific view of the lake and fireworks. In fact, the staff brought in an ice cream truck and bought the guests ice cream. That was really cool! The rooms were simple, but clean. The staff was friendly. I would highly recommend this motel.

SOMEONE'S THONG WAS LEFT AND NOBODY FOUND IT OR PROPERLY CLEANED THIS ROOM

I'd give 0 stars if I could. My husband and I stayed here for our first anniversary and we found a THONG from previous guests between the bed and the nightstand. He asked me if it was my sock, but after continuing to look, it didn't look like a sock. I absolutely washed my hands (multiple times) after finding it, but I was mortified, disgusted, and uncomfortable with our entire stay. When I told the woman at the front desk, she had me send the pictures to their email, but I haven't heard anything from anyone.

A wonderful place! I was extremely pleased with my stay here at the lake motel. Our little room was nicely decorated with cozy beds, nice size mini fridge to fit our groceries and a microwave. We didn't have turndown service due to the Covid situation but the staff was always available to provide anything needed. The pool and fire pit areas were well maintained and the motel offered kayaks and paddle boards for lake activities.

Great place to stay! Spent our weekend at Lake George and stayed at this motel. It is close to everything. Inside of the room looks like cabins. The back of the motel is right next to the lake. Great view! There is a deck over the lake as well. Free kayak and BBQ equipment provided to the customer. Definitely recommended!

Piss stains on the mattress cover

Well , let's start with I booked a lake view room and got the room next to the office. I was told when u book thru booking.com your not guaranteed a lake view. Well why do I pay for a lake view room on booking.con website. You do have a contract with booking.com so u should give the customer what they paid for. The mattress springs were popping through the mattress. I had the lady from the front desk look at it and she says it's. Brand new mattress. Lol. You could see them coming through the mattress so when she left I got the other guy to help Me and he even agreed that it was springs. I throught maybe he could put a thicker mattress pad on the bed well too out surprise when he lifted the sheets three huge piss stains were on the bed. Wtf. They had to get a whole new mattress. They didn't even offer to give us a discount on the room. Won't be returning here.

    Pool

Clean, friendly! Free kayaks, paddle boards to use. Nice heated pool. Little swim out dock in the water. Lots of fire pits for night time gathering. Bathrooms were so spacious and nice! Parking was tighttttt. I was terrified to get hit or hit someone. 5/5 I would stay here again. Loved it. Free s'mores night, free make a candle night.

My friend and I stayed here for memorial weekend. It was our first time there and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and free kayaks offered! The hotel is in the great location. Just walk and enjoy the gorgeous town. Can't say enough about the staff that made our weekend sweet stay and very enjoyable!

The room had two king beds, a small miracle for a man accustomed to one, and the soundproofing was a triumph of human engineering. Even with Oktoberfest raging below, once the balcony door was closed the silence was so complete that I could almost hear my own thoughts apologizing for existing. The hotel sits right on Canada Street, which is the main artery of Lake George's little heart. Shepard Park is practically across the street, full of families, music, and the particular chaos of people on vacation trying to have a perfect time. The staff managed to stay cheerful through it all, smiling with the kind of sincerity that must come from good training or good souls. Parking was a game of Tetris, but I was grateful for the garage. Once my car was wedged in, I had no reason to drive again. Everything that mattered was within walking distance. The rooftop terrace deserves a poem, though I am too lazy to write one. The lake spread out below, blue and calm, and for a few minutes I believed in peace on earth. There is no hot tub, which feels like a crime against nature. The patio outside the pool almost begs for one. Imagine sitting there in January, snow falling into the water, steam rising like forgiveness. The restaurant did not thrill me, and the prices made my wallet flinch. Still, it was a fine stay, the kind that makes you feel momentarily better about the human race before the bill arrives to remind you of reality. Four stars. A lovely place, too expensive for what it is, but worth remembering all the same.

What started as a simple trip turned into something much bigger a weekend that's about reconnecting, laughing, catching up, and picking up right where we left off every year. By the time the Super Bowl rolls around, it feels less like a trip and more like a reunion. The first week of Winter Carnival just makes it better. The ice bar, great food and drinks, the energy around the resort and town it all sets the tone for an unforgettable winter weekend. A huge part of why this works year after year is the people who make the place feel like home. Courtney, the general manager, keeps everything running smoothly and consistently she sets the standard. Tyler and Nicole at the bar are always a big part of the weekend, and Becca and Tonya at the front desk make arrivals feel easy and welcoming every single time. Even in the heart of winter, the place is always spotless thanks to Keisha and her housekeeping crew something we appreciate more than most people realize. Sixteen straight Super Bowl weekends, countless memories, and friendships that keep growing. Some traditions just stick because they're done right. Can't wait to see everyone again at the Holiday Inn Resort Lake George. Already counting down.

The location is convenient and feels like part of our ritual now. The staff are almost uniformly kind and welcoming to our kids and us. They remember us, greet us cheerfully and make this feel like a home base. The outdoor hot tub was a particularly welcome amenity on this past brutally cold weekend and it helped us warm up a chill that seemed to go straight to our bones after time outside on the lake. It really is one of those few places that feels like a welcome retreat no matter the weather. If there weren't any flaws, this would be a much easier review to write. But there are flaws, and they are things that should have been tended to long ago. The rooms have definitely seen better days. Many of our dresser drawers barely opened. The refrigerator was hardly cool. Furniture had visible damage and some of the electrical outlets were non-functional or battered to the points that plugs fell right out f them. These are not deal breaking in isolation but taken together they left us feeling that the room was tired and poorly maintained. A little thoughtful maintenance or investment here could go a long way and make the rooms feel a lot more comfortable. Another disappointment this year was the breakfast buffet at TRs Restaurant. In years past it was a highlight and something our kids looked forward to to prepare for a cold morning out. This visit, the quality seemed to have declined and the selection felt smaller. The restaurant itself still has a lovely lake view and a cozy fireplace, and the service was still friendly and attentive, but the breakfast spread did not live up to our memories. So I find myself landing on a three star rating. If you take this place for what it can still be, it is a wonderful family resort with great staff and some truly nice amenities. But right now the condition of the rooms and some of the public areas combined with the breakfast experience hold it back from being the much stronger destination I know it can be. Here is hoping that ownership puts some money back into the property so it can recapture its full potential.

Boyfriend had no idea where to stay, and it was my first time going to Lake George so I didn't know either; I chose this place mainly because I like using the Hilton app to book... super convenient - you can choose your room the day before (we prefer the top floor) and if you request the digital key, you will receive a message though the app when your room is ready - and you can go up directly without checking in at the front desk (room unlocks with your phone). We booked the most basic king room. It was clean, bed was comfortable, big flat screen tv and all the usual Hilton amenities. Bathroom had a beautiful shower. The hotel is obviously an older one that was renovated, but it was very nicely done. The lobby is gorgeous. I *loved* the lobby bar area, the stone fireplace and the outside backyard with Adirondack chairs, and even a fire pit and a bbq. I would have spent a while there if the weather had been less misty! Our food came out with a pretty big gap between plates, I was finished with mine by the time another in our party got hers. I will say they were very gracious seeing as we were a half hour late. Food: Pretty underwhelming, you could get similar or better food at your local diner. Menu is somewhat limited as well especially for sides and drinks. I got the french toast, it wasn't very moist at all, uninteresting flavor, the strawberry garnish was dried up on the inside so must have been left out for a while, bacon was fine, maple syrup was good. I had a few bites of the omelette which was good and home fries which were on the dry side and without much flavor. I went for a family vacation with my wife and our 7-month-old baby. The first day seemed fine, but once nighttime came, things went downhill quickly. Every time someone in the building flushed a toilet or turned on a shower, we heard loud, aggressive banging noises coming from the walls. These bangs were so forceful that the headboards on our beds actually shook. The noise continued late into the night, keeping our baby awake until about 3 a.m. when other guests finally went to bed. The next morning at 8 a.m. I went to the front desk to request a room change. I was told nothing could be done until a manager arrived at 10 a.m. When I returned at 10, I was told it would actually be 12. By that point I had reservations for a steamboat ride and couldn't wait around. When I got back later in the evening, around 6 p.m., the manager finally offered to move us, but by then it would have been a major hassle to pack and move all of my baby's belongings with an early departure the next morning. After leaving, I reached out by email hoping for some kind of resolution or at least acknowledgment. Instead, I was told that "no one else complained about banging pipes," which essentially dismissed my concerns. To imply that a guest's issue is only valid if multiple people complain is incredibly unprofessional. Overall, Surfside at the Lake failed to provide a restful stay, offered very little support in the moment, and showed poor customer service afterward.
